I've heard we have to wait until next summer's transfer window to force that one through.

I would like to see us bring in more defensive cover, and if there is any truth in the Dier loan rumour, I would be happy for it to be him. I know he is primarily DMF, but he is also a good CB/FB, and his versatility in covering all three of those positions would make him a good addition for the team.

However, what I really would like to see today is a massive clear out of our deadwood players, of which we have many!!!

Wait - what? You’re happy with Okaka’s output over the last 3 years? He’s exhausted after 45 minutes.

    Window right now: C.
We get a top quality winger/attacker in: B
On top of that we get another brucey bonus in - possibly a CB, hold on to the key players and unload some dead wood: A

Not 'happy' with it. Just acknowledging that he has contributed to some positive results. I don't think his lack of stamina is necessarily down to a poor attitude.

It's more a lack of ability than a lack of desire.

I actually like Okaka as he is basically a decent striker, it's just a shame he does not seem able to put in a 90 min shift, however, maybe this could make the Welbeck signing an even better piece of business, because if we were to put the two players in our match day squad, one starting and the other coming off the bench, we could have a real improvement to our strike force.

We all know DW is susceptible to injury and that Okaka lacks the stamina to last a whole match. Therefore they could protect each others weakness by "Job Sharing" so to speak, which could get us the best out of both players.

Brighton are bringing their spending up to the £70m mark without selling anybody for big money.

Have a very bad feeling that Everton will get Zaha --> Palace get Sarr --> us trying to get Bergwijn but we won't meet their valuation as PSV know we're desperate and up their price (and as we all know, Gino won't buckle if he thinks the price ain't right)

Clubs will rarely (if ever) out their price up because they believe a club is desperate.

If we don’t get anyone, it’s because Gino won’t pay what is being asked.

Why won't they, it's simple supply and demand? I agree with that last sentence regarding Sarr, but if we're starting fresh talks with PSV for Bergwijn then there's no reason for them not to up the price. PSV would be fools not to

I would agree. But on a 5 year £40k+ contract he is a considerable burden on our small budget when is able to contribute little. Same for Prodl. We can’t afford to pay those two a combined 70/80k per week for 4 years so do very little.

Because at the amounts being thrown around, clubs will be very fearful of the bid being withdrawn. Most football transfers work on good faith between owners. And clubs of a certain size (PSV, Betis) in the modern transfer world covet the money as much as the player. A week ago Betis said Lo Celsius’s wasn’t for sale for a penny below his €80m release clause. Now Spurs are getting him for €55m - because Betis have no other takers and want the money. If a price seemingly goes up, it’s very often because an agent wants more money, not the selling club. Putting the price up in a market of one - I just don’t see it.

PSV can (and likely will) continue to push the price as long as ourselves, Sevilla and any other clubs are keen. But the minute the market goes down to one club, I really don’t see any club asking for more because someone is supposedly desperate. I think every club in football would walk away.

We'll end up supplementing some of their wages, even if we do find takers.

Should have pulled an Arsenal and just told everyone we have £10.25 to spend - then we’d have signed all these players.

Only caveat to that is that we probably do only have £10.25

The Bordeaux full-back, Plattenhardt and now Danny Rose...

Seems we are after a LB which would mean either we want rid of Masina or the club think Holebas legs aren’t far from going.
