Very sad. His keys really made the Stranglers stand out from the crowd. First album is fantastic start to finish.

Same here and I have tickets to see them at Brixton in November, although pretty sure they'll cancel - it's not The Stranglers without those swirling keyboards and I doubt anyone could master playing them the way he did. More than any other member, he was the sound of The Stranglers. RIP to a musical genius. Their first single, Grip has his mark all over it:
