Bluebirds captain Darren Purse has been linked with moves to two Premiership clubs. Wigan Athletic and Watford are both rumoured to be showing interest in bringing the centre-half back into the top flight. Cardiff City skipper Darren Purse has been attracting attention from the Premiership. Watford and Wigan Athletic, both struggling at the wrong end of England's top flight, are reported to be interested in signing the centre-half at some point during the January transfer window. The 29-year-old has been on impressive form for the Bluebirds this season; forming a formidable central defensive partnership with Glenn Loovens and has also chipped in four goals this season. His form has attracted the attention of two Premiership clubs anxious to add strength to their backline and Purse, who has played Premiership football with West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City, may just fit the bill. The player seems settled in South Wales and enjoys his role as team captain; but a six-figure offer could tempt Dave Jones to part company with the former England under-21 international.
this rumour keeps on going around, i really hope it is not true. He was so far out of his depth in the prem last time as he has no pace and is not exactly a footballing defender. i hope wigan get him
Purse must be a non-starter, he's not as good as our top three and is hardly a future prospect. Anyway, he has already said that he doesn't want to come to Watford.
He's absolutley pony! He was a calamity at WBA in the prem a couple of seasons ago, og after og, mistake after mistake! No thanks, he's found his level and that's the championship! We do need another centre back as back-up for Danny and Jay...we should look to sign a youngster from the lower leagues and groom them here!
