I wouldn't worry about it. Welbeck will never be remembered as a Watford player. He has now become another of those journeymen who, as their career plays out, casts around for anyone in the PL who will have them for a bit.
You could well be right there. Got to feel sorry for players done for through injury. Sturridge is another who never fulfilled his potential.
Occupational hazard of an athlete. Juan Martin Del Potro,Robin Soderling and many others have been blighted by injuries and illness. Sport isn't very good for you in lots of ways.
Welbeck was also in the position of being transferred to a club with a manager (Wenger) who didn't really want him.
Sturridge is actually a brilliant footballer though, his peak / his best was way higher than anything Welbeck could produce. One of the best finisher's we've had in this country IMO, just a shame about the injuries!
Would have been even better if he'd got his head up and passed the ball occasionally as well. To my mind he was quite a selfish player.
Doesn't matter how much talent if you can't use it in a productive way for the team you soon get found out ie Penaranda and Success versus Doyley and Marriapa! first two costs lots no end product, later two cost nothing but we got hundreds of games out of them!
