I think it’s a good signing. Should strengthen us and a player with a point to prove after a poor couple of years.

A good signing. Decent premier league quality player who has a point to prove . He also comes across as very humble in the interview which I like .

Yes I agree he came across like that in his interview. It's just up to him now to prove himself. I was a little unsure at first but he's got a decent fair contract and sounds like he's lucky to be here.

He’ll be the first putting in a transfer request if we go straight back down.

This guy can’t even get in the England team? Must be useless.

The bloke is a complete ****, he's all about Danny Rose when I thought the club we're getting rid of the toxic players not adding to them.

The one thing that offers hope for Danny Rose is that Luke Shaw is also a fat b******, and Shaw ain’t bad.

"Rose donated £19,000 to NHS staff in his hometown, Doncaster, as well as the same amount to the North Middlesex University hospital – where he also paid for hundreds of Domino’s pizzas to be delivered to frontline workers.

He was a mystery donor in both cases, before eventually being tracked down.

Rose has also handed over £10,000 to two domestic abuse charities, SafeLives and Chayn, helping those vulnerable individuals who have been impacted by the lockdown measures."

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/talksp...andemic-tottenham-defender-misunderstood/amp/

He's chosen to speak out about the racist abuse he's suffered, and the mental health issues he's faced. I'd argue he's made very positive contribution, especially considering the trauma he's been through ("uncle committing suicide, his mum Angela being racially abused and an assailant shooting at his brother inside the family home").

Not sure he's a **** just because he had a little moan at Mourinho or whatever people's gripes are with him.

I’m not actually against this signing, but I don’t get how he has a point to prove? All players make the right noises when they sign, that’s a given, but he’s previously said he can’t wait to get out of football and he has a two year deal. This is your classic Pozzo signing that could go either way.

Genuinely unhappy with this signing. Past his best? Check. Attitude problem? Check. Cheat? Check. Likely to be on massive wages? Check. **** signing

Every signing we make is a risk as we are not going to attract, or afford established PL players. I think this is a risk worth taking as he is a quality left back. Xisco will need to manage him, he comes across as a player that needs to be loved.

Xisco seems to be good at giving players love. Unfortunately he will be gone within 10 games and I'm not sure how Danny will get on with QSF.

Genuinely would like to know why you think he has an attitude problem? I've tried to find some past incidents on Google but all I can find is falling out with Mourinho. Mourinho falls out with multiple players at every club he's been to, we only saw the Rose falling out because it was on a TV programme. I can't seem to find anything that suggests he's a huge problem for us to worry about.

And if you think we don't have cheats already then you've got the blinkers on. Hughes and Sarr are excellent at 'being fouled'.

Purely observing his performances against us. I'm not going to suddenly change my opinion just because signed him. There's different levels of gamesmanship. Rose used to go down holding his face when he hadn't even been touched. Attention never got drawn to this as he is English.

He also comes across as stroppy and too big for his boots. Theres a reason no top clubs have signed him since he left Spurs. He ends up with teams who are desperate and then falls out of favour.

Outspoken black men and women are often perceived as 'too big for their boots'. Sterling, Rashford and Pogba, for example.

'He ends up with teams who are desperate'? What? Spurs saw fit to keep him in contract for 14 years, and he's spent the majority of last 8 years playing regularly for them, with the exception of a loan to Newcastle. Bizarre accusation.

The reason no big clubs have signed him is the same reason we were able to sign Capoue. He wasn't playing regularly and now isn't seen as good enough for the best teams. Quite straightforward.

I disagree. I think he had the ability to do better since leaving Spurs. If it isn't his ability that is the problem, it is likely to be an attitude problem imo. I'm open to being proved wrong about Rose, but can't see it. I would suggest we are the desperate ones for signing him tbh.

What big club would sign a player who has barely played in a year, when they afford to avoid that risk? Clubs like us have to take punts on players like Rose and Capoue. Some will pay off, some won't.

He was one of the best LBs in the country, and a World Cup semi-finalist. Then he was frozen out by the same guy who mistreated Luke Shaw. Doesn't mean they're bad players, or that they have an attitude problem

We signed Capoue while he was still in his prime, Rose turns 31 in a couple of weeks and seems out of shape.

Shaw also looks out of shape but is doing okay. I haven't seen Rose play for us yet so I'm prepared to give him a chance to get himself in shape

Past his best. Do you think it’s likely that we will buy somebody who is a current England international? Attitude problem? Who knows what his wages are? Sh1t signing? We will have to wait and see but every signing you have to do the same. There was massive criticism of Gosling and Sanchez last season but that didn’t end up too badly

I’ve said I can’t wait to get out of my industry - but when I’ve lost a job in said industry before, I’ve always taken another in it. Because it’s what I know and what I’m talented at. And what I enjoy the majority if the time.

Not sure why Rose shouldn’t be treated the same? Everyone has a right to speak about how they feel at any given time. It doesn’t mean that’s how they feel 24/7.

  28. Burnsy

Literally none of that is confirmed at all.

It’s far better to take info from former managers, teammates, fans and coaches. It’s not hard to find their opinions if you look. Don’t form your opinions on edited documentaries, tabloids and Jose Mourinho.

I know compared to most forum members he is skinny as a rake, but anyone who is in great shape (like me) can tell you this guy is in disgraceful condition for an athlete.

Obviously I don’t know your situation and what you do for work, but I think it’s difficult to draw parallels between mere mortals, who mostly need to work to 65+ out of necessity rather than choice, and someone who earns 2/3 times the National average salary in a week doing something most would do for free.

My point was simply that there is little evidence he has a point to prove and if anything there is more evidence he doesn’t have a point to prove.

I will reiterate I don’t have a problem with his signing, but it’s is nothing other than your text book Pozzo signing that has as much potential to go wrong as it does to go well.

  31. Burnsy

But he’s never said he can’t wait to get out of football because he doesn’t like playing football or doesn’t enjoy the game. That’s a pretty important distinction to make when he’s signing for us.

A lot of his complaints have come when playing for a team expecting to win the odd trophy or two and playing in front of foreign crowds with racist elements to them. You would hazard a safe guess that by signing for us, he no longer is chasing trophies and that by association, he knows he won’t be playing in front of those away crowds where he’s liable to face racist abuse.

I suspect he just wants to enjoy the trade he’s good at for a few years again in our environment after having a couple of years where his goals in the game have readjusted.

I agree. Why aren’t we trying to sign Chilwell or Shaw, proven Prem left backs with no doubts about their capabilities?

(PS The answer is because we’re f***ing Watford, and EVERY incoming with Prem experience will have question marks. Otherwise we couldn’t afford them)

I suppose it depends whether or not you believe the garbage that recently came out of Duxbury’s mouth about signing more Richarlisons and less Welbecks.

Obviously nobody is suggesting we should be signing Chilwell or Shaw, that’s just the usual type of reductive nonsense that gets spouted on here every time someone dares question something, you know on a forum designed to do just that.
