Contract at Sunderland cancelled by mutual consent and Dan's called it a day.

A player I always liked and followed his career with half an eye after he left.

He was a man with an eye for goal. A natural born striker. I'm sure there will be very few Horns and Hornettas who will have anything but fond memories of his time here and what he gave of himself to our club.

Couldn't not like the fella. Maybe he can come down and teach our lot how to find the back of the net.

One of our best buys in the days of tight money. It's a shame that we only saw two years of him. He also had a great understanding with Marvin Sordell which helped.

Great signing for Watford. A top bloke and fantastic player for us. Can't speak highly enough of him. It was a sad day when we sold him to Swansea.

Great player and a hard worker. Had some spells when it just wouldn't go in the net for him, but never stopped trying.

Great player for us. Always looked like he'd find a goal even in his rare dry spells. Great attitude and was a sad day when we sold him to a bigger club. We're heading back to those days when our best players in the champ are hoovered up by those with real prem aspirations.

Good luck DG9. Probably my favorite player of the post-Aidy/pre-Pozzo era

It was great when we used to make hidden gem signings like this. I'd put him in the Nick Wright, Allan Smart bracket in that regard. Really helped us at a time where most people thought we'd be cannon fodder.

Top player and top bloke. Made the most of what he's got through sheer hard work.

41 goals for us in 98 appearances was excellent. Even making 98 appearances in two seasons is exceptional these days.

He was in with the Watford fans as a paying member of the public at one of our games after he'd left, cheering us on. I doubt there's been many former players to have done that.

Maybe we could offer him a contract to the end of the season, I reckon he would be better that what we have, unless he is retiring because of injury of course.

Fantastic player for us. Despite limited resources we had a pretty decent side back then. Personally it resonates to a simpler and far happy time.

The connection between fans and players was far better then. We're in it together. Thanks Danny. In a time of straitened circumstances for the club an excellent player.

A lesson some of our recent players could do with reminding of.

Absolutely loved Graham when he played for us. Great eye for goal and always worked hard.

What I'd give to have prime Danny Graham in our team now...

Genuinely think we'd be top of the league if we had the version who left us for Swansea, always felt like he gave 100% too

Danny Graham was a great player for us, a goalscoring forward with a great attitude who never gave less than 100%. I was sad when we sold him. I remember him being in the crowd on one occasion to support the team, was it against Crystal Palace?

Apart from maybe the Dyche season, we always had a proper striker. Mooney, Helguson, King, Smith, Graham, younger Troy, Vydra, Ighalo... incredibly frustrating when you don't have one. You can't achieve anything without a goalscorer.

Thanks, I knew it was game that I went to, I just couldn't remember which one. Yes, how we could do with another forward like Danny Graham today or Heidar Helguson, Tommy Smith, Luther Blissett or Ross Jenkins (The 1970's Ross)

Bit unfair. Graham was consistently great for us. Smart and Wright were both mostly crap, but shone on the big stage at Wembley.

Smart did score a few well taken, important goals, but they were islands in a sea of indifferent performances.

    Wright was just shight.

I loved DG10 table tennis "get over it" tshirt!
In contrast, i feel nothing towards this team, they're just meh.. I havn't bothered to watch the Gray interview - maybe thats on me, but i just can't be bothered and i put my apathy at the feet of the club. Pandemic surely hasnt helped the disconnect, but it was already simmering away nicely beforehand in my opinion. Shame.

We always had a knack of finding a decent striker with very limited resources. We’ve managed to lose that knack with the most resources we’ve ever had.

I would put Graham in a bubble with Gifton NW. Brilliant poacher, great bloke with a sensible head and a football brain to match. Some of his goals were class, some were scrappy. He always made runs and attempted to make something out of nothing.

Have a happy retirement Danny, and wishes to all who know you. Xx

No he means the old boy from Brighton, now working in the Forest - Glenn Murray had a couple of years at Carlisle.

As most people have said, DG was a top signing for us and always gave his all at a time when we weren't much to shout about. Only best wishes for retirement from most Orns.

Put 2010/11 Graham in our team and we're up.

Brilliant player and it seems like a nice bloke too. That goal against West Brom which he lashed in from outside the box lives long in the memory.

He's just signed for us as a "Club Ambassador" As I said in my earlier post, I would seriously be up for asking him to consider delaying his retirement and offer him a playing contract to the end of the season, as he has to be better than Mr Gray.
