Customer Service: Tesco (mobile) or Samsung?

    So the littlest one's Samsung A40 screen went "bananas" last week. It was bought from Tesco (and is under contract to Tesco mobile) so I took it back to the shop (on Wednesday) after a bit of guff from the salesman I pointed out that as it was just over 2 month old I pointed out that it should be replaced under the Consumer Act 2015 (which superseded the Sale of Goods Act). He then pointed out that on the receipt it stated if there's a problem with the phone after 30 days from point of purchase I had to call this number. TBF he did give a company phone to call them then and there.

    OK the upshot is, we've been waiting since Thursday for a jiffybag to be delivered (3-5 days) to return the phone for it to be "...repaired...". Now I'm assuming it's just going to be examined to ascertain whether it's been damaged as opposed to having a fault.

    My question is: who's delivering this 'excellent' customer service Tesco or Samsung?

    Tesco I should think. That's who you have the sales contract with.

    You could also call Samsung I guess.

    Tesco should facilitate a repair or replacement through Samsung's warranty system.

    Likely upon receipt if it's not obviously been soaked or chucked about, you'll get a refurbished replacement model returned.

    I have a bank account with mobile phone insurance. I kind of ignored it for a couple of years, but I broke my screen, twice in the past 3 years and both times, paid a £25 excess and had it repaired within 3 days (had to send off and send back).

    Got to say, it's been more than worth the monthly account fee on its own. As has the breakdown cover. And the travel insurance.

    I believe this is a Samsung thing. We have the same arrangement over here with AT&T (I handle our corporate cell contract so I get to handle all the returns).

    Apple uses the same process.
