Current Squad - Cowards

    Discussion:

Is the current squad the most cowardly, limp wristed this football club has ever seen? All too happy to be very well remunerated, trot out the usual platitudes to the fans while rolling over and surrendering week after week.

I am not talking ability here. I am talking about guts, passion and personal pride. We have had far far less technically / talented players but what they have lacked in ability they make up for in work rate.

This squad is a abomination and every single one of them should be ashamed.

Were they all to leave, not a tear would be shed.

Absolute charlatans and con men the lot of them.

(Note I lay the ultimate blame with those who put this feeble group of individuals together.)

    I think the basis of the above post has some merit;

    1) there’s no team spirit at all

    2) the recruitment team has failed dismally to sort out the defensive problems so obvious from April of last season

As I saw someone post online, signing Dawson to fix the defence is like trying to eradicate a life threatening illness with ibuprofen

I think a thread on the subject should be kept near the top of the page to call each and everyone of them out on it.

Hopefully external media will see it and report on these cowards.

The club will try and portray a different narrative but we know the truth and should out them all.

They make me sick, season after season of rolling over and downing tools.

Don’t even mention the cup run to me, that ended in a spineless humiliation on a global scale.

  5. I feel sorry for players like Quina and Chalobah who never get a look in behind gutless lightweights like Hughes and Femenia; and Success, who might fall over a lot but is never afraid to get physical and fight but never gets a look in either. Sarr must wish he'd stayed in France, he's barely got a scuff on his boots. My fear is young players stop choosing us.

This morning QSF needs to sit down and split the squad into 2 piles: those he can work with and those Giraldi needs to bin off. Then he needs to give Giraldi, Scott and Gino a list of positions he needs new players in January, starting with 2 CBs and a LB. After that take the pile of players he can work with and spend the week drilling discipline and shape. The rest can go wash cars.

I can not disagree with you there. Not sure he will be able to fashion a team from those who would be up for the fight.

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

At present this “team” is down. Absolutely awful. One half against a similarly lily livered arsenal side is not a true indicator of just how useless they are.

Who are the Top 5 of the Worst in the current squad?

Whilst I agree with a lot of what has been said here, this is also the same team that ran itself into the ground trying to gain a point against Arsenal at home last season, After Fosters error and the Deeney sending off no-one in their right mind could say that performance lacked courage, guts or no little determination. These qualities are in the squad, but I think we just face Man city and consider ourselves already beaten. Imagine if we had played Man City had three shots on goal scored three, saw City miss countless chances, and won like Norwich. The team that played them the following weak was always going to take a battering, and it was just our luck that it had to be us. Yes we could have put more effort in, and it is galling to see how badly we approached the game, but make no mistake Man city were gunning for revenge and would have beaten most teams in the world yesterday. Play like we did in the second half and for large parts of the first half against Arsenal and I think we will stay up comfortably this season.

We weren't "cowards" last week against Arsenal .

Think there is a bit of over reaction to some extent in terms of calling them that .

Just we have a crap defence and it was badly exposed and nothing up front to put any pressure on Man City at the back .

Maybe we just aren't that good ...particularly against the top sides.

Arsenal player Xhaka ? admitted last week they were frightened of Watford. City now obviously have us physcologically in their pocket. What is different about them is that most sides would ease back after scoring a few goals , city don't, they are relentless.

They have had one “good” half all season (ignoring last seasons back ended capitulation). This half came against a similarly weak team, in Arsenal.

So one half in 6 games. One out of 12 halves of football have been acceptable.

8% of the time they put in effort to achieve something.

If we add in Newcastle then that is 3 halves then they have played 25% of games with any sort of result (no wins remember).

25% of the total points available is 28.5 points.

This is clearly a concern and far from an over reaction.

The club is merrily sleep walking to relegation and the majority of fans do not appear to give a damn.

Oh yes I agree we haven't played well for a whille .

Yet the media seemed outraged Gracia was sacked .

I'd certainly say the wrong team was picked too .

And we were at fault for most of the goals rather than excellent City play .

The worst part is that nothing will change. Javi was and Quique is are incapable of making brave or decisive decisions on personnel. The same limp-twisted, sheepish and gutless XI will saunter out against Wolves next week for another humping. We’ve got no youth policy or back up plan. Foster needs to be put down but where’s the next goalkeeper coming from? We’ve neglected Bachman and Dahlberg’s development for the sake of some misguided loyalty to Gomes. Players on the fringes of the team are watching while the same disinterested players put in 30% every week but keep getting picked. What does that do to a Quina or a Masina or a Sarr? What messages does that send? We’re loaded with expensive luxuries like Pereyra and Delufeou who turn up once every 8 games and look like utter bottle merchants the rest of the time.

Yesterday becomes more unacceptable the more I think about it. We knew we’d get beaten. We knew that this was effectively a write-off. But to just turn up and accept defeat shows low pitifully low morale and endeavour has gotten within this club. We’ve been in rancid form for months and unless we’re prepared to take a long hard look at ourselves it won’t change. I’m sick of Duxberry patting himself on the back and celebrating our obscene managerial turnover as some kind of triumph. I’m sick of seeing Foster smiling and shrugging and doing “oi-oi” bantz after letting in 8 goals. You should be f**king embarrassed and ashamed. If these last few years ultimately end with us skulking out of the Premier League while setting new records for incompetence along the way with a team of jellyfish, then we’re right back where we started. I’m furious. Absolutely furious.

Na **** it. **** those gutless ****s on the pitch yesterday. 5-0 in 18 minutes is a ******* abomination and I honestly promise unless those ****s refund every single fan that went yesterday, and docked all wages, i'm done for this season. Spineless clowns - every single one of those tossers.

If I performed in my job how they performed yesterday i'd be sacked. Ben Foster the most pathetic of them all.

I am that angry and that disconnected with these clowns that I have considered not going again this season. Sadly I purchased a spurs ticket before this abomination. Maybe the club should offer refunds as I am not signing up to supporting those feeble misfits.

5-0 in 18 minutes in professional sport, regardless of the the opposition is nothing short of an outrage and those condoning it or making excuses for it are as much to blame as the spineless players.

Tell me, how many times in the FA cup do lower ranking teams concede 5 times in 18 minutes.

    It’s a bloody disgrace.

Which players actually have a future here?

Foster - should be his last year, performances steadily declining.

    Gomes - lol.

    Dahlberg - poor bloke.

    Bachmann - see Dahlberg.

Femenia - limitations frequently exposed, probably not even good enough to be a viable backup.

Janmaat - has his moments, threatening going forward, but hardly reliable and capable of his own gutless defending (see Fulham away last year). Worthy backup.

    Folquier - see Dalhberg.

Cathcart - in an ideal world, he’d be our Mariappa. A reliable backup, good squad player, capable of coming in and doing a job, but ultimately, we should have better. As it is, he’s probably our best defender. I think he’d benefit from a commanding presence beside him.

Dawson - I’ll admit, thought he was a good signing. Hasn’t impressed, but I think it probably doesn’t help that our entire team seems completely incapable of defending as a unit. Could be a useful squad player.

Kabasele - potential is there, but can’t see him realizing it. Bizarre lapses in concentration make him unreliable as a starter or even backup.

Mapps - can’t fault his effort, but hideously overmatched. Shouldn’t be here beyond this season.

Holebas - proved his worth last year, but appears we’ve seen the best of him. She surely a factor in his rapid decline.

Masina - no idea. Came with a good reputation and seemed on paper to be a useful signing. Hasn’t really shown anything thus far. Would like him to get a proper run so we can genuinely pass judgement on him.

Capoue - looked the business last year, and showed against Arsenal he’s very capable. Looked to have finally brought consistency to his game last year. Happy to have him around, although I’d hope Chalobah could eventually push him aside.

Chalobah - I want him to be good. Desperately. He showed so much promise, but it feels like it’ll never happen for him, which is brutal.

Doucoure - can be exceptional on his day, but it feels like he’s not quite the player he was the season before last. Clearly has the quality to be a strong option for us.

Hughes - useful, but doesn’t impact the game enough, either with goals or assists. Works hard. Happy to have him around, though if he’s going to be left on the right wing, it’s a bit pointless.

Cleverley - in a squad that desperately needs leaders, I think he’s one. Lacks quality on the ball at times, but his energy is a useful asset and I think he’s able to improve others with his work ethic.

    Quina - see Dalhberg

Pereyra- flatters to deceive. Lightweight, doesn’t impact the game enough. Sell him.

Geri - build the team around him.

    Sarr - see Geri.

Welbeck - worth a punt. IF he can build some fitness, he’ll be useful, but it’s looking like he’s going to be Daniel Sturridge at WBA. What happened to them that season? Oh.

Deeney - been a great servant, but his time is up. Too big of an influence at the club, not necessarily in a positive way either. Move along.

Success - showed flashes, can’t see he’ll ever provide more than that. Get rid.

Gray - useful to come from the bench. Limited, but has a knack of getting goals.

Based on my rudimentary assessment of the squad, I’d say the following should have a future at the club (making the admittedly ludicrous assumption that we avoid relegation) beyond this season if we’re to avoid being even ******* than we are now.

    Dahlberg
    Janmaat
    Masina (backup at best)
    Cathcart (new Mapps)
    Dawson (backup new Mapps)
    Capoue
    Doucoure
    Chalobah
    Hughes
    Quina
    Cleverley
    Geri
    Sarr
    Welbeck
    Gray (sub)

Frightening to see that list and think about the huge gaps we have. Christ, we’re doomed. Even if we scrape survival this year, we’re doomed without massive changes.

We lack leaders and someone a bit nasty. Deeney is the closest we have to both, but it’s not enough and he doesn’t always do these two roles as well as he should do.

The overwhelming majority of the players at the club lack spine, guts and pride.

Look At Sheffield United, a much poorer team player for player but a much better team as a collective. Why? They care and show fight and backbone.

Watford are this season Fulham. Good riddance to them all. Maybe a relegation can reset the club and cut these chancers out for good.

Yet it was only about a dozen competitive games ago we were within touching distance of 7th place and Europe as well as the chance of winning our first major trophy. So could it be that we’re just very very low with confidence and some wounds from that final?

Confidence can hide many deficiencies as it did last season. We are not a truly terrible team. We are a team with zero confidence, who had the stuffing knocked out of them in the cup final. It will difficult to get back but I believe we have the quality to at the very least stay up this season.

That Watford were lucky to get a point after an equally spineless Arsenal let them back into the game by conceding a comedic, unnecessary first goal and then gifting them a penalty due to rash / brainless defending.

The Arsenal fans reaction to their side and performance tells you all you need to know about their thoughts on the team we huffed and puffed our way to a home draw against.

Fact - WFC are bottom with 2 points, -14 goal difference after 6 games. A RECORD for fastest humping of all time. There has been some utter garbage in the PL over the years but this lot are trying to be the worst of the worst.

Bottom after six games with no wins is obviously not good and very concerning but blimey there has been some over reaction to the situation. Worst day in the clubs history has been mentioned which it certainly isn’t. Pozzo out! Were people not watching where our club was when he came in. When you next go to Vicarage Road, have a look at the place, the club shop, the pitch, the stadium and just double check what league we’ve been in for the last five years and then confirm you want him out.
Yeasterday was humiliating, horrible and unacceptable but it was one game of football which does not mean we are going down or staying up.

I'm struggling to think of many worse footballing days as a club than losing 8-0 to a team in the same league as us after being 5-0 down after 18 minutes.

Whilst I don't subscribe to getting rid of the owner, I do hope that this might open a few eyes to the fact that he's just the Italian Mike Ashley. In it for the money.

Let's not continue to kid ourselves that the advancement of the club on the pitch is in any way a priority.

Just because Pozzo built a club shop and put up some fancy cladding etc etc does not give him free reign to deficate on me.

You call it an over reaction, I call it a culmination of dereliction of duty on behalf of the owners.

You give him more time, I say change is needed.

From what I have seen so far this team
Is going in one direction fast.

I am an early adopter of change. Ironically just like the owners are when it comes to managers.......

I would agree to this post. Time will tell.

I would be interested hearing how much money is being taken out of the club via interest on loans (and what rate is being charged vs other available revenue streams available in a LFL basis), what director remuneration is and a full breakdown of the fees paid back to Italy that are justified as costs for the scouting network.
