Watford travel to the Smellhurst Park to take on the mighty Crystal Palace where a much needed win is on the cards.

England's oldest owl impersonator, Roy Hodgson took charge of the Eagles recently after performances below what was to be expected with their admitedly shockingly low quality squad.

    Roy Hodgson--------------------------------------------Owl---------------------------------------------------

According to Wikipedia Crystal Palace was founded in 1905. They turned to one of the biggest clubs in the country at that time, Aston Villa to seek advice and were duly lent serial loan midfieder Jonthan Hogg, who also completed a spell with the Hornets and to date is the most loaned payer in the English Football league.

Season Stats CPFC vs WFC so far
    Goals For 10 vs 25
    Shots 148 vs 139
    Saves 53 vs 41
    Yellows 3 vs 7
    Read 0 vs 2

So it looks like they have problems shooting yet have a good goal keeper. that'll be 0-0 then. Expect a card or two for the horns as gravity appears to be stronger in the area.

Need a point here. Richarlison probably deserves a rest Okaka should start even if he did do a poo on Silva's desk.

I think you have been very harsh to that lovely creature. An owl would never have placed Kane on corner duty.
'Hi There' David 'Margaret Trudeau' Jason, was a QPR Rangers fan before he became an owl,err eagle.
I shall be going and expect to be stuck behind some ruddy great pillar. Thus I shall be prevented from seeing Zaha's full repertoire of shimmy, fake, step over, fall over, throw hands in the air, flash unfeasibly white teeth and cry.
After his pantomime villain role against the Sainted Eddie's brave and plucky chaps,I have no doubt Benteke will score four and Holebas will be off.

  3. 60 minutes of Gray running around like a headless chicken and getting in the way of everyone, followed by 30 minutes of Deeney standing around sulking and waving his arms around

Add in some more keystone cops defending an I predict 2-0 home win fml and Silva telling everyone 'we've been working hard every day and we didn't deserve that I'm sure about that'

I hope Snakey finally puts his ego to one side and plays bloody Okaka! (Even if he did bang Silva's missus)

I’m looking foward to playing Catchphrase Count. All good continental coaches have them and Silva has two variations. Either ‘this is normal’ or ‘this is not normal’

We will lose. The wheels will fall off. Then this forum can spring back to life with arguing and disagreeing instead of the more recent rubbish on offer.

Well, I was a useful left winger for Mount Pleasant Lane Primary School in the 1975 season, until a rival school complained that I might 'damage myself' playing with boys!
I suppose I've had a suitable rest from the game, albeit not quite as long as Kaboul!
Can I take my racket onto the pitch? I rarely go anywhere without it.

The second half of the season starts at palace; or rather it started two games ago and will continue there.

    Reasons
We never get anything against Palace.
    Gray and Deeney
    Zaha will cheat

We'll lose. Silva has been found out. Millions and millions and millions have been spent and we're really no better than we were under mazzarri. In fact, we had more points under mazzarri than we do under silva at this point of the season (possibly, I cba to work it out).

b..b...b..b.but injuries!! Yeah, mazzarri had devastating injuries too, and a much weaker squad to deal with them.

We were outplayed and outfought by burnley FFS. Even if that *** (who's no better at all than holebas) hadnt have (correctly) been sent off, the score would have been 0-0 AT BEST.

It's downhill all the way from here chaps. Another dreadful second half of the season awaits. Yes, we probably wont go down, but turgid times await.

Unless we beat palarse. In which case we're ace, silva is a genius and europe is ON.

We need a good referee for this game and it looks like we've got one. Lee Mason is taking charge of this one and he's pretty good. No hint of bias or officiating to his own agenda in the past.

I'll go out on a limb and say we will not be talking about bad decisions after this game. You can always predict people will be talking about decisions, post-match, when we get Taylor, Probert, Oliver, Friend or Atkinson. I should probably add Mike Dean to that list, but from memory he tends to leave Watford alone. The others are pretty uncontroversial and non-descript which is exactly what a referee should be. Too many want to be a personality and these officials are dangerous for a club like ours.

It's traditionally a tough fixture for us. Zaha always dives in the box, and this will be Palace's most dangerous play. Keep him quiet then Watford should be too strong.

Just like at Burnley, the first goal in a game like this will be vital.

Sorry, IBB but that’s the second time you’ve dredged up that sexist schoolteacher anecdote; time to see a psychiatrist before you turn into Count Arthur Strong.

Agree about the others, but not Oliver, who is probably the best in the country right now. Bestrode Old Trafford like a colossus yesterday, even Mourinho didn’t have his heart in the low calorie sour grapes afterwards.

He maybe a top referee now, but he dumped on Watford plenty of times on his way up. Giving big controversial decisions, last minute penalties and just a lot of big showy decisions to get noticed. He wanted to be controversial in his early days to prove he's not scared of making big decisions at key moments. I can see he's considered very good now, but I do not trust an official that uses games to further his own career. Give me a ref that just wants to officiate a match on its merits, with no personal agenda, any day.

There are plenty of referees who are decent, but there are a few that cannot be trusted to be impartial and fair, because they have other things going on in their heads. Clattenberg lifted the lid on this with his bizarre admission, so that's proof this sort of thing does go on.

We play well away overall and they are doing much better than their awful start. Hodgson is making the difference that’s almost too easy to work out.

Palarse seem to park a double decker bus in their goal and brick it with cement when we go there unless their defence is feeling generally festive. We will score, but when we do is key...

If they get goal 1 then it’s Stoke/Burnley again. But how many times are we going to say this from now on?

Can someone post that picture of the chap with the egg and chips? I don't even know what the gag is as it started before I joined the forum but seems like a good tradition to post it at least once a season when we play Palace.

I’m going. I better drink enough to keep myself warm, as it's going to be freezing.

I'd give Richy a rest for this one. He gave the ball away frequently against Burnley, including very poor touches which led to the red card and to Burnley's goal.

If our midfield play well enough to carry whichever striker we chose, we'll be fine. If they aren't on top form, it'll be another soft Palace win.

I actually see this as good news. Lee Mason will be officiating tomorrow, and he's not one of the dodgy refs. It's very much in the news Zaha and diving. I'm hoping that will turn out favourably to Watford as it's in the mind of the official to look at what Zaha does carefully.

Having ventured into WGC to do some banking and shopping,I decided to buy my train ticket.
When I arrived all three windows were shut and the nice chap said 'come back in 15 minutes'.
    Not a good sign,thought I.
When I returned I requested my ticket and the gentleman said 'what time are you travelling?' I replied 'about 5'.
    'Am?' he said.
'Good Lord,it's bad enough having to go but at 5am? No sir!' I bleated!

I can't understand the negativity expressed by some contributors. We have been outstanding all season and, generally, been unlucky not to have picked up more points than we have. I cannot recall one match where we have been second best (apart from City). Grey is sh1te, but, apart from that, I can't see any reason not to be upbeat.
Palace will be flat after Bentecke's last minute penalty miss. We'll get an early goal and run out comfortable winners.

    No.

Sorry don't buy it. Id prefer to be a pessimist and be pleasantly surprised than an optimist and suffer worse despair.
We haven't look second best apart from City I agree but we aren't on a good run currently in terms of actual results. Results and points are what counts ATEOTD and history suggests that isn't going to change at Palace.

Oh yes, I forgot we lost to Man Utd and only managed to draw with Spurs! Forget Saturday - we would have trounced Burnley had it remained 11-a-side.
And, of the three league games we've played at Selhurst since the Pozzos took over, we've won 2 and lost 1, so I'm not sure what history you're referring to.

It will be a cold dire night, with a Troy scrambled winner - Three points and a total of twenty Five as we go into the Huddersfield game. I expect we should beat them as they are poor away (this seasons Burnley) - I presume the trains will be ok from London Bridge tomorrow

Because since the Pozzo takeover we've only won twice out of the 8 times we've played Palace. We've drawn twice & lost 4 times. History isn't on our side.

Sorry, but we've won 2 of the 3 league games we've played at the Croydon Supermarket Car Park Stadium in this time - so recent history is, in fact, very much on our side when it comes to this fixture. Stop accentuating the negative
