Just seen Mazzari's interviee on skysports.

Saying he was disappointed we threw away a point. I know that is strictly true, but for me it just reflects how he approached the game. Negatively. If we actually attacked we would have had a chance.

Then him blaming the ref for our defeat as well, making excuses likeel that when the reason we lost is because of him.

**** off Walter. Not only have you got us playing terrible football, you're not even taking responsibility for it either.

Mazzari's comments are disappointing but all managers blame something or other after a defeat. Most blame bad refereeing decisions or bad defending. Ever heard dyche, if he is far worse with his moaning.
For me it should be right now if mazzari is to go with a two week break and two important league games to go. If not it's time to get behind the team and the manager and regroup in the summer.

I wouldn't put my house on anything as that would be stupid. You may think we might end up in a relegation battle but we are not currently. I'm very confident we will be fine

Didn't think it could be worse, but it was, what a terrible game by two so called Premier League teams.

Fortunately we won't get relegated, however, I think this is probably the beggining of the end for Walter - few more defeats and performances like that and he'll be back managing in Italy somewhere. Massive overhaul needed in the Summer otherwise relegation next season is very likely.

I know this is on other threads, but the fact that 2 coaches have produced the same turgid football says more about the type of players we have rather than the coaches.

Like many others, I am ambivalent about Walter but I suspect that unless we have another upheaval of players we will be having the same conversations next year, whoever the coach might be.

Absolutely spot on. We look like Bassett's Wimbledon or Pulis' Stoke, but without the attacking threat. We are going backwards, and this will be more evident than ever in 2 weeks when we lose to Sunderland - a team that's been rooted in the bottom 3 for most of the season. That win against Arsenal has done us no favours - as it saved Mazzari's job. He's got to go, and get rid of the bloody recruitment team as well. This season has for the most part been awful. It's killing my desire to follow my team.

What seems particularly odd to me is that Success and Okaka linked up brilliantly for one of the few moments of sparkle last week. Not starting either or both was strange but how on earth do you decide to put a rusty Amrabat on first?

I sometimes think managers spend too long thinking about it. Home or away against a team like Palace, just put on our best players who are in form. Let the opposition worry.

And if Success will struggle to last 90 why not play the first 45 rather than the last 10?

Fortunately I do think there's 3 worse teams than us so we should escape the drop but my word this season has been utter sh*t. It's got to the point where our matches just aren't even interesting anymore, you can tell quite quickly that we have no plan and a noticable few of the players just don't care enough to put in a good performance.

If we fail to beat Sunderland in a couple of weeks time then I fully expect us to be dragged further down the table to Hull etc.

A topic from yesterday was - if we had to pick our player of the season now, then who would it be? Prodl or Gomes are the only 2 coming out with serious shouts from throughout the season.

Anyone that was at Palace away last season and that was there yesterday - how insanely different was the relationship between the players and supporters at the end of the match? Last year we had all the players come over and also QSF. Yesterday we had 3 or 4 players clap from the half way line and the rest straight down the tunnel.

Sorry but we beat Palace last season so of course the reaction is going to be different. What a bizarre point to make in a post that generally makes a lot of sense.

Maybe, but when a team puts in 100% effort and has a few shots at goal then, regardless of the result, the crowd acknowledge the effort and endeavour, possibly the bad luck, and applaud the team anyway. When the performance was **** and the players know it was ****, then both crowd and players tend to slink off in embarrassment.

You have a point but I understand what Smithy means.

When we played them last season we weren't tip top and Quique's overly cautious nature was being questioned. However we all I think liked Quique and he was first class with the fans.

I love Italy and Italians and have tried very hard to like Walt but even my patience is wearing thin. Of course this is magnified when times are difficult.

I can overlook the lack of English to the media but his manner wins him few friends and his comments yesterday about Success not being match fit were juvenile in the extreme. A child of ten can deduce that match fitness is only gained by playing matches.

I would have more respect if he said he doesn't rate Success or has had a disagreement with him.

    Unacceptable Walt. Buck up man!

Can't imagine that Gino will be pleased to see one of his prize assets being devalued by a coach who doesn't seem to rate him. All the more bizarre, when you consider that despite few starts, Success has generated some key goals, which really means that only an idiot would not see him as an important asset.

Success is very hit and miss which is to be expected of a 20 year old, especially when they're only given 10 minutes a game to show what they can do. Him even being on the pitch drops teams back a few yards because he's so quick.

It's a mystery as to why the club have shelled out so much on young players in the last two seasons but hired two coaches who seemingly have no trust or intention to play young players unless absolutely necessary.

The only way you learn is by playing, improving your decision making in match conditions.

Walt's psychology on this is so wrong that it almost appears as if he is doing it to spite someone.

Immediately we conceded he HAD to change the plan. Lord above even pushing a centre half up front or bringing Okaka on would have been worth a shout if we are to persist in lumping it up Deeney.

I understand removing TC as he was flirting with dismissal and Atkinson didn't need too many reasons to punish us.The Bat before Success was really confusing, especially given his post match comments!

I totally agree with Kelso's post a page or so back.

I presented a daily radio show for many years. True to life, I'd get people who liked the programme and people who didn't. Letters/e mails written in to the management praising me and letters written in saying I was terrible. I preferred the first kind, but I always consoled myself about the complainers that at least they'd felt strongly enough to write in moaning. In other words, at least I'd elicited some sort of reaction. Far better than apathy. People who listened but could barely remember doing so a few minutes later.

And that's what I'm finding so sad about WFC at the mo. So many supporters, myself included to a degree, seem to just be shrugging their shoulders these days and saying 'well we were expecting that'. There seems less of a connect between many good posters on here and the team. Defeats that used to be followed by about 50 pages of lively debate and emotion these days barely elicit 15-20. People like HB1 seem to have given up bothering to post much.

Past experience makes me think we should just about be safe. Our home form isn't too bad, plus there's always the chance we could still pull off another shock win that few saw coming, such as at Arsenal. But safety isn't guaranteed and there's work to be done. And something needs to happen fast to remove the prevailing air of pessimism, gloom and low expectation that the Mazzarri era is becoming characterised with. This is the top league in England. We fought for years to earn the right to play in it. We deserve better than what we are being served up at the moment, and I firmly believe we all deserve to be enjoying it more than we are right now too.

And players appreciation towards the supporters should only exist if the team win?

I wouldn't expect a copy of last season but something with shades of it would be what I would expect to a sold out away end making noise for the entire match.

I thought the booing of the Watford players by a large section of the Watford fans was quite significant and may have a long term negative effect.

I'm surprised I haven't really seen it mentioned before now?

For those that weren't there or who had left, half of the usual suspects and Mazzarri himself, exited stage left to the tunnel (in the furthest corner of Selhurst away diagonally opposite the away fans) without a second look or a bye or leave.

The ones that had played well and IMO been let down by others, i.e., Kaboul, Prodl, Cathcart and Troy Deeney came over towards the howling away support to clap them. When they realised they were getting dogs abuse on behalf of the rest of the squad, Prodl and Cathcart looked a bit shocked and Deeney looked very put out indeed, in fact angry, and turned and went back to the half way line. Heurelho Gomes, who hadn't made it over yet met Troy and the quartet in the centre circle.

It was clear Troy quickly told Gomes what he thought and how cheesed off he was with the fans reaction. Gomes could be seen trying to persuade Troy to come back over to the fans, but TD wasn't having any of it, and without a look back continued off the pitch. Which is a shame as I genuinely don't think the vitriol was directed at him (or Prodl or Cathcart) personally.

Gomes did come over last, and for him alone, the booing stopped and he got applause back. Which after Southampton goal mistakes seems to be the crowd telling him we support him truly.

Deeney takes many things to heart - I hope he doesn't bear a long term grudge about it, but it wasn't good to see him ( and the others who didn't deserve it) so shocked and hurt by our own fans.

Troy had done a lot in the game with the ref to keep his colleagues out of the yellow and red card trouble. Cleverley and Niang stayed on the pitch due to Troy getting to the ref first.

I was halfway out the stand when the booing started. I presumed Zaha had wandered over. Didn't realise it was for our players.

I am not a fan of booing but players have let us down in recent weeks. I hope it will make the players realise relegation is a very real threat and we get a positive reaction against Sunderland.

tbf the booing changed to clapping after about a 30 seconds , as the voices of the positivitrons gained momentum in their struggle with the negativitrons .

After about a minute, the WFC nuclear particle was in atomic balance and a nuclear explosion was averted .

To be honest, I understand the need to look for a silver lining with out current awful play, but Success has continuously failed to impress in the time he is given, since his latest injury.

Of course he is young, and he has great raw attributes. But looking to him as the saviour at this moment in time is only setting yourself up for failure.

He is not match fit and can't seem to get match fit. He looks like he's made of glass, and now is playing with an element of fear which he's never had before.

I hope I'm wrong, Walt give him a half and he's suddenly great again. My mind says that he will continue to look a duck out of water.

Oh, and Niang's been sh*t too for the last few games.

I wasn't booing the team but I was Atkinson for getting two key decisions wrong.

I don't condone it if people were booing the team but having witnessed that dross in their flea ridden khasi of a dump would try the patience of a saint.

Incidentally I wouldn't want to be in the Arthur Mullard if a fire broke out,it looks ill equipped. Wasn't aware of it last season but could be fatal.

Reasonable assessment and I agree he hasn't looked the same since returning. However he isn't going to improve by only getting ten minutes, especially if we are chasing the game.

It is an invidious position for him and others seem to remain, having produced less.

Your assumption recently that he's scared of something is strange, the guy clearly doesn't struggle with confidence. He gets ten minutes on the pitch every game so tries to do too much, simple as that. He spends those ten minutes trying to take on 3 people and smash it in the top corner because he's a 20 year old who doesn't have a great football brain at the moment. Plus we very rarely get him isolated against the full back because we're pumping it forward and he's picking up Deeney's scraps.

Set up a goal vs Southampton in a cameo. What more should he be doing to be judged worthy of a start ahead of the players who start week in and week out and do **** all?

The away support booed the team at Norwich last season. They are the fans who witness most matches, and it's as much frustration with the result as the performance. But losing the benefit of the doubt from the core support not a good sign, and IMHO is most likely to be picked up by the owners (rather than the players) as another sign that the head coach needs to do better. Gomes as ever showed the maturity to both come over, but not to come so close, that his acknowledgement of the away support left him to far from Deeney, who he ended up walking off with. I think his personality and influence is a significant positive factor for the rest of the season.

I would start Success against Sunderland, and let him tear into them down the left wing, if it doesn't work with him in the first half take him off, Then at least we won't be able to say should have more than 10 minutes when we are chasing the game!

I might nip in there when I'm passing sometime. After I've had a dump on their hard shoulder of course. My wife once claimed I was 'allergic to porcelain'. In the vicinity of Scumtown this would certainly appear to be the case. So, if I nip into this supposedly nice boozer and partake of some comestibles washed down with a couple of senakot, I should be able to leave another 'al-fresco jobby' before high-tailing it out of there ...
