    Just been reading about the curtailed County Championship (named after Bob Willis) to be played this season, starting August 1st, with three regionalised groups. There was no mention of this being televised - if not, what's the point?

    Interesting contrast between cricket and football on the use of technology. It works well in cricket and adds to the TV experience. I love watching LBW reviews where they check the front foot, then snicko, then ball tracker, and the audio that goes with it - it all adds to the excitement. Contrast that to the shambolic way we have implemented VAR in this country. Even allowing for some subjective decision making in football over fouls that you don't get in cricket, it doesn't seem to have had the positive impact everyone expected.

    Just saw this one.

    Isn't the point:
    1. To ensure that players 'keep their hand in' with red ball cricket?
    2. Hopefully, to allow some county members to attend red ball cricket if easing of restrictions allows in due course.

    Hardly any of the County Championship is televised in a normal season, of course.
