Too true. And let’s not forget the abysmal ball out of defence that led directly to Brighton’s first goal that set the tone for the whole season. And the ridiculous foul on Ings in perfect Ward-Prowse territory immediately after Soton had generously given us a way back into the game after the restart. He seemed truly brainless when he played for us.
That penalty foul at Arsenal annoyed me more than any other mistake. I genuinely thought we had a chance of winning that game with Arsenal's minds on the cup final. That stupid early pen killed any hope so damn quickly.
To be compounded by his part in the fiasco that was their 3rd goal. Even with giving them 2 goals and them scoring a deflected third, we still could have beaten them. Without that 1st minute penalty, I think we had a more than 50% chance of winning that game and staying up.
