Thanks everyone, but I'm OK, it isn't as bad as the really nasty bug I had over Christmas. I was working from home today. Very funny re the Spanish Flu UEA, cheeky bar steward.

Not too sure what to do about the isolation in the house, though. I've got Mrs ZZ and the little 'un here, but I'm pretty sure that they would have been exposed by now as we were acting like normal until this morning, so don't really see the point of us living separately in the house. We are just resigned to staying in the house for a few weeks and suffering together!

 

Hmm, supposedly the coroner informed the family that it was a coronavirus death, even though she hadn't actually tested positive for it.

It has now been recorded that she died of a heart attack (it has not yet been disclosed what brought on the heart attack):

Amazed the press ran with that Facebook story really. It always looked a bit sus, especially as the death didn’t appear in the figures.

 

The press have been running with photogenic young tragedy for as long as I can remember. Sadly it sells.

 

Blimey, good time to bump someone off at the moment then. Yeah they had a cough.. fair enough, next!

 

I went today to get food for my mum and nan who, after two weeks of me nagging them, have finally decided to properly self isolate. I had to queue to get into the store for a minute, with tape on the floor marking out two metre distances. Max 50 people in a medium sized Morrison’s with two people monitoring the entrance. 9/10 people seemed to obey the distancing rulings with some just barging around totally oblivious. Had some textbook banter with a few oldies who were very amused with making sure they were exactly two metres away. Good times.

No empty shelves, no one getting silly. They’d blocked off the ends of each aisle from accessing the tills except for the one stocking toilet roll and drugs. Seemed to deter people from rushing straight to the bog roll and grabbing it. Waited at the end of the aisle to be waved over to a till and they were fine on the checkout with me bagging up and paying separately for two lots of shopping.

It all worked perfectly, the staff seemed relaxed and glad of the structure. I can definitely live with this for a couple of months. The message finally seems to be sinking in for people, I just hope it’s not too late.

Although I wasn’t shopping for myself, it was actually really nice to have a more limited choice. Being faced with a few different options of stuff like snacks, pasta, bread etc made them all look more appealing instead of having 100s of options to decide on. Found that interesting. But then after two days of no work or structure I’m finding the random patterns on the floor tiles in the kitchen interesting.

Also amazed the Aunt deemed a priority pasting all over facebook during a family tragedy as well. Especially when facts were unclear.

Perhaps the real circumstances around the death were potentially embarrassing for the girl or the family, so they played up the coronavirus angle as an excuse/distraction?

What additional factors may cause a 21 year-old girl to have a heart attack?

 

What a load of rubbish, that just highlights everyone that was at the event and then where they went afterwards.

All the experts have said that social gatherings on their own have little impact. That highlights what would happen if everyone at the event had the virus, that obviously wouldn’t be the case would it.

Mrs TuT and I didn’t really get much of a cough or any shortness of breath. It was just 4 days of fever, splitting headache, sore throat and occasional irritating dry cough. Fever now going/gone but painful aches esp around lower back (wife couldn’t even lie in bed). Think it can affect kidneys which might cause the latter. No appetite to eat at all. For us the only issues now are the back pain and lack of appetite so hopefully another day or two and it will be gone. It’s not pleasant but to be honest the worst thing is the worry. The worst thing is people like Hornetfan (x 1000) then pick it up because they want to do their own virtue signalling and before you know it there is excessive panic.

Not counting my chickens but hopefully heading in the right direction. Still a little worried about the pains either side of the back given its known to attack kidneys (2nd most common organ target after lungs) but hopefully that will fade in next day or do.

Here a bunch of people who went to an event, and here is where they all live, what has that got to do with anything?

 

You don't think any of those people took the virus with them when they went home? I feel that's unlikely. What the traced movement clearly shows is that the repercussions of DeSantis refusing to close Florida's beaches will be felt a long way away from Florida.

 

All that shows is where people who went to an event live, that’s it. They clearly don’t all have the virus, if they did this whole conversation would be irrelevant because we’d have immunity if everyone had it.

To be any use it would need to show a few random people with the virus, who they interacted with, who then got it and where they all then went.

But it doesn’t do that, it just shows where people who went to the event live, completely irrelevant.

Our medical experts have clearly said that if someone with the virus goes to an event with 70k people they clearly won’t give it to all 70k, they’ll only give it to a few people they come into contact with.

Likewise if the event never went ahead and the same infected person went to the pub, then they’d give it to the same amount of people and it would spread in the same way.

This stupid tweet doesn’t show anything. Social distancing clearly helps to stop the virus spreading, but that’s social distancing across the board, banning everything, not just large gatherings.

 

You're arguing against something neither I nor the video said.

They set out to show how a single large gathering can potentially move the virus over long distances, much further away than people might expect. They did exactly that. It doesn't require all of those data points to be infected people for that to be true. Not once did they claim they were all infected.

 

It shows where people live in relation to an event they attended, I think we could’ve worked it out for ourselves.

 

Well, fair play to you if that's the case. You must be highly intelligent if you can do all of that in your head, so colour me impressed.

Myself, I don't have the ability to calculate the relative geographic dispersion of a large group across a country and it's well outside of my field of expertise, so I found the visual map interesting and informative. I wouldn't have predicted the spread to have been so far afield.
