Yes, that is true. I think, once every one has been offered the vaccine, there will be pressure on the government to normalise the hospitality trade, sporting events etc as quickly as possible though.

If, for example, full grounds can happen sooner with vaccine certificates then I think most fans would be happy with that.

Anyway, as you say, this has a way to run. Talking of runs....the cricket has started!

Yay, we're out of the top 4 for Covid deaths.

My brother is back in the local Gt Yarmouth hospital with anaemia, after his radiotherapy.
My sister in law has tested positive, despite both of them having had their jabs a week or two ago.
My sister in law's car packed up yesterday too.
Hopefully that's the three out the way.

Ok so rules from March 8th.
Going by previous rules if someone is in a support bubble it's considered a household. I'm in a support bubble with my parents. Does this now mean we can meet socially outside with one other person from March 8th?

Perhaps for travel the option to use 1/ a vaccine certificate or 2/ a clear CV19 test taken 48 hours before travel.

Yes. The destruction of hope for future generations is such a laughing matter. Maybe it is when you've benefitted wholly from it.

A man from that scene who has come through Yewtree and Covid! They should build black boxes out of his skin.

I'm not normally one to defend the Tory government but - is there anything to stop (say) Easyjet or the Greek government demanding proof of vaccination even if the UK government decides against using vaccine certificates?

Presumably they would charge a, highly reasonable, fee of £9.99 for 'examining' your certificate.

I don't think anyone's suggesting you have to show your 'I've been jabbed' papers every time you nip out for a newspaper or a packet of polos. If the certificate is just required for foreign travel, I don't see what the big deal is. There are plenty of countries around the world where proof of vaccination against local lurgies is already required and nobody makes a fuss about that

No, but there has been some suggestion that you would need proof to go to the pub, go to the theatre etc. Personally I doubt the Tories would tolerate this but we will see.

Like many I won't be contemplating boarding an aircraft this year, but if I were to sit in a metal tube for a few hours with 150 other people I'd like to think that as well as wearing masks the crew and other adult passengers were vaccinated.

Got my vaccine jab no.1 booked in for tomorrow. Received a text, followed the link and booked a time of my choosing, very efficient. No idea which one I'm getting.

Expect all forum interaction after tomorrow to be in favour of Bill Gates.

Lady Lloyd and I had our first jabs on Monday, so as soon as we get the booster we're outa here!

My wife felt lousy about ten hours after hers. Flu-type symptoms. Lasted about 24 hours. Apparently if you've had covid you're more likely to suffer like this. My wife thinks she had the virus about this time last year, she wasn't properly tested though so as far as I'm concerned that doesn't count. I reckon I've had Covid loads of times in the past year but unlike her I don't make a fuss

  25. Just got a message that one of my accountancy clients sadly passed away yesterday from Covid. He was taken to hospital on 16th January. As that was nearly 40 days ago, does that mean he won't be counted as >28 days?

  26. sydney_horn

    sydney_horn Squad Player

I assume not. Unless he was tested in the last 28 days then I don't think his death will be in the stats.

Conversely there must be some people that die from other causes after having been tested covid positive within 28 days and they will be counted as deaths from covid.

I guess the stats cannot be seen as absolute numbers but are more useful as an indicator of which way infections and related deaths are trending.

  27. UEA_Hornet

No but he will be counted on the other tally if his death certificate says Covid was the cause.

The summer music festivals seem confident all will be well as they have announced they are going ahead.

I imagine this being more of an issue when the a small number of people who cannot have the vaccine for disability/ medical reasons are annoyed that they're the only ones not allowed on holiday, and therefore claim it is discriminatory on medical grounds.

A slightly more fair test would be to also factor in population density, plus the number of clinically vulnerable in the population to begin with. I'd genuinely be interested in whether our rate of death per person from flu is also higher than the rest of those countries.

But yes, the point that we have done pretty awfully up to this point remains.
