Night fell over the village, the locals rejoiced that that they had got a target but soon hurried home.

Later on in the night, a creature made it's way to the house of steve harrow, the wolf was licking their lips with the thought of another tasty meal. As the wolf approached, they saw a man stood attentively at the gate. This was unwise, the wolf let out a roar but the man raised his silver sword, "Begone foul creature!".

The wolf was not going to allow the guardian to let them get hungry and cunningly made their way around to the back of the house. The wolf very quietly opened the door for not wanting to attract the attention of the guardian. As the wolf entered the house he saw another wolf looking back at them, the wolf nodded and left hungry.

I removed Cassetti's Beard as he didn't participate, vote or reply to my PM yesterday, I assume that he was otherwise occupied and isn't able to play on.

Well this will be a tricky one to explain but quite simply the wolf's perception of me and what I am are 2 different things.

I know it looks fishy but I am good.

We only seem to have one wolf - no other kill sought last night, by me or anyone else. Thanks to the guardian for trying to help but I was hoping the wolf would come for me, knowing they wouldn't kill me.

so Steve care to explain why a wolf was sat in your kitchen?

    looks pretty damn suspicious.

    What an interesting message.

On the one hand, we had a good night by lynching GD and no good player was killed.

On the other hand, we have a strange situation with steve harrow now...

If steve harrow is telling the truth, then I think we got a wolf in GD. Which means one of those pointing the finger elsewhere yesterday will have been our traitor.

As I said, the wolf's perception of me isn't correct. He or she saw another wolf but they were wrong. I was hoping they'd come to me as I knew they wouldn't eat me.

Remember, no kills last night and the seer saw me as good. If I was really a wolf as they had seen me, then someone else would have been eaten overnight.

Unfortunately, I don't have any idea who the wolf is - and are we still thinking there's a traitor?

    Good morning Villagers,

Some very good play yesterday to reveal GoingDown as an evil player.
Even better, we now have one clear target for tonight.

Monday I decided to view horace_goes_up_north and I confirmed he is good.
Yesterday I decided to view steve harrow and I confirmed he is good.
Today I decided to view HappyHornet24 and I can confirm she is evil.

There is no need for any wild speculation today.

Is it possible this message is from a wolf/messenger 2 from the previous rounds? Or is message #1 always from the same person/player-type each day?

A whirlwind day, culminating in a fantastic result last night.

It looks like there are still 2 wolves left. My initial thought is that a seer would view Steve, but let me have a think about that one.

    Good morning Villagers,

    Solid start to the game.
Everyone on team good made it through the night and we nailed GoingDown together.

On day one I decided to view horace_goes_up_north and I confirmed he is good.
Yesterday I decided to view steve harrow and I confirmed he is good.
Today I decided to view happyhornet24 and I can confirm she is good.

As expected, the wolf's message is now trying to mimic mine. However, there are clues within my now three messages that link them together.

If the voting is going the way of someone who isn't happyhornet24, don't give away all the clues you find as it will make it easier for the wolf to mimic the message tomorrow.

Let's work together to find these clues.

So hh24 was one of the players who I always think plays this game quite well. I do not think she would be bold enough to implicate herself in a message at this stage.

First step we need to find the clues in the message.

Steves situation is an interesting one, but I don’t think he is a wolf. I think he has a hidden role but is still essentially a good character.

Anonymous message #1 is definitely the wolf then, the writing style matches the wolf from the previous 2 days.

I also thought hh24 was good anyway.

    Agreed.

I would have liked the seer to have viewed Squibba as I am suspicious of him being the traitor.

I've read through most of yesterday's game. Personally, I think it is safe to assume that these players are not the traitor (although that doesn't mean they can't be our wolf):

    horace_goes_up_north
    hornetgags
    miked2006
    nornironhorn
    opti
    steve harrow
    wfcmoog

Horace and Steve were viewed as good. Hornetgags is the gunslinger.

Mike and I let the campaign to vote for GD. Opti and Moog also voted for GD when the voting was incredibly tight. A traitor could've swung the vote.

lowerrous also voted for GD when the scores were tight but was keen to divert attention to Squibba and grrwood at one point. Noticeably though, he was most eager to have the voting finished before the inactive players returned, at which point GD was leading in votes so I think he is unlikely to be the traitor.

Grrwood voted for himself which is always suspicious, but at the time he voted we still thought CB would vote. This meant he could have voted for one of the other players on 3 votes and given CB a chance to make it a tie. If I was the traitor and saw a wolf possibly going to be lynched, that is what I would do.

That leaves HH24 and Squibba. Hard to know for sure at this point but I think message 2 today looks more like the seer's messages on the previous days which would rule out HH24.

It was Squibba who suggested Otter wouldn't pick GD as a wolf in his first game despite this happening before in other games. He also said he believed Wolves would create a theory to create hysteria which pointed the finger at miked2006 and away from GD.

I genuinely don't understand it. I have gone back to see whether the messages naming Steve_harrow as good, could have come from the Wolf, but they can't have, because on day 2, the other message was naming LR as evil. None of the messages today name LR as evil, therefore we can deduce that was the wolf and therefore the message naming SH as good, was the SEER.

I've just thought of something whilst typing this out, what if Steve_Harrow started out as good but was "activated" as a wolf or contracted the virus on day 2?

I can't see any explanation other than that Steve is a wolf, based on that write up.

@Otter I'm assuming CB was good? Or are you not going to say?

So we now know (almost for certain) that:
    - There are two wolves left
    - They now know each other.

    My thoughts:

I'm very confused about the write up. If the guardian was out the front of the house, how could two wolves get in? If Steve was good and two wolves were in the house with him, why would they not attack him?

I'm going to assume for now that the guardian is protecting Steve, who is upstairs and it isn't a new role/ rule (an evil that is viewed as Good by the seer would be ridiculously overpowered).

Given there are probably two wolves left, there is the possibility that GD was actually a traitor. If so, has he said anything suspicious to anyone that could reveal a wolf?

  20. lowerrous

    lowerrous Squad Player

I said yesterday that I thought GD wasn't the main wolf but that it didn't rule out him still possibly being evil - which is why I was happy to still vote for him but thought that we'd need to look elsewhere to get the main wolf.

I agree with you that message 2 looks more like the seer's message on the previous days and I'm pretty sure message 1 is from the same wolf as the previous days, so I'm fine with ruling out HH24 (even though they foolishly voted for me).

Based on their writing styles and general lack of/types of engagement, I'm still suspicious of Squibba and Grrwood.

Cassetti's Beard was just a villager, everything else I have posted today is for you to work out for yourselves.

Edit: I should have said just a good player, but I've posted it, so it's too late.

Steve has explained that his character is viewed as a wolf by wolves when they come to visit. As you say moog, the seer seemed to view him as good.

I assume it is just a new character. Perhaps his role allows him to transform to a wolf for one night only and he used it last night? He did say he hoped they'd visit.

I think that GD was our alpha wolf and he is now dead.

So we do not know for certain that there are two wolves left and that they know each other. Two wolves were not in the house with Steve as he has explained he is viewed as a wolf by wolves. Otter only referenced one wolf leaving.

I think we should leave Steve alone for today and if there are two kills tonight then revisit him.

Well I can't be the traitor as I was (along with Miked) the person who was wanting us to lynch GD.

I'm as likely to be the wolf/other wolf as much as anyone in the game excluding Hornetgags, Horace and potentially Steve.

  27. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

Yes. You are probably a wolf along with Steve_harrow. That leaves the possibility of a 3rd wolf, as I believe we already had 2 and Steve seems to have turned/succumbed to the virus.

GD was most likely a traitor, given there was no revelation of him being a wolf, after being lynched, merely EVIL

    To clarify:

On Day 1 it was me who suggested we lynch cthulhu as he was going to be killed anyway. Wouldn't an evil player want us to lynch someone else as we knew Cthulhu was getting killed either way?

On Day 2 it was myself and Miked who suggested we go for GoingDown, who was confirmed to be evil.

Today I am suggesting we take a look at Squibba who was trying to persuade us not to vote for GD yesterday.

  29. wfcmoog

If my scenario is correct - you are a wolf and GD is a traitor - you wouldn't have know GD was evil when you were lynching him.

OK - I've just gone back and read the rules and they utterly do not allow for my theory of Steve_Harrow being the carrier, as if he were, the Guardian, the wolf and Steve would all have died.

I just don't understand it now.

    The rules, as a reminder:

    • In this game someone will be a virus-carrier, that person will not know it. If you are assigned the role of "Villager" there is a chance it's you, other roles will mean you are not a carrier.
    • The carrier will change the dynamic of the game, so from good's perspective if the SEER views the carrier, they will die, if the guardian or the harlot chooses to visit the carrier, they will also die. From evil's perspective, if a wolf chooses the carrier, the wolf and the carrier will die.
    • The carrier can only be eliminated in three ways, (1) a wolf gets them, (2) they are lynched, (3) they are shot dead.
    • For team evil to win they just need to equal the number of good villagers remaining.
    • For team good to win, they need to eliminate the wolves AND the carrier.
    • If after the final wolf is eliminated the carrier is still alive, the remaining villagers will have one chance to lynch one more player. If they fail to get the carrier, everyone dies and it will be a draw.
    • If the SEER dies having viewed the carrier, if I assign a back up I will inform them who the seer attempted to view.
    • This of course means that if incredibly unlucky, the seer may die on the first morning.
I have put some extra thought in how to balance this game, hopefully it pans out well like the last time I ran one.

If we already had 2, what was the second wolf doing last night if I was a wolf and visiting Steve who is also a wolf? In addition, why didn't Steve leave his house to go for a kill last night if he was a wolf?

The previous night, at the end of day 1:

Diamond was a wolf but we know he died.
One wolf visited Hornetgags but didn't kill him.
Another wolf visited Daft Row and killed him.

After that night, we know 2 wolves remained and a traitor (as no evil player had been lynched yet).

Last night, we had a wolf visit Steve's house. That is a fact. This accounts for one of the wolves from the previous night. This wolf killed either Daft Row or visited Hornetgags.

So last night, where was the other wolf?

In my opinion GoingDown was the other wolf and is no longer killing people as we have lynched him.

This leaves one wolf (who visited Steve) and a traitor. We don't know for sure the situation with Steve but we will know if only one kill is made tonight.

Morning all. Just catching up after a lovely long walk with the dogs to our local farm shop - where I bought eggs and milk, so very successful.
I am a bog standard villager - no special role. I’m guessing the wolf has named me as evil because I was one of the people who didn’t vote for GD yesterday, so knew I’d be one of those in the spotlight today. Fair play to those who led the campaign against GD. Honestly, I’m much too cautious to be so ballsy without any evidence and had you all earmarked as possible members of Team Evil so apologies for getting it so wrong.
Going Down was evil which means we either have
    - 1 wolf and 1 traitor left or
    - 2 wolves and no traitor left
Do those who led the voting against him yesterday think he was the Alpha wolf? Hence the unusual messages, not naming anyone on the first day (it was his first game)? If so, and we now only have 1 wolf left, that would back up the theory that Steve Harrow may be a special character who is mistakenly seen as a wolf if a wolf tries to kill him. And he has been viewed as “good” by the Seer.
Because I know now categorically which messages are from the Seer, I’m going to see if I can spot these clues. I know when I was Seer I tried to do the same, but no one spotted them. If I find them, I obviously won’t spell them out here.

  35. nornironhorn

    nornironhorn Administrator Staff Member

I think we can safely say he was a wolf as we seem to have one less wolf visit than we should have last night. In which we should be able to get the traitor today as they will have been trying to get us to vote for someone else yesterday.

I felt he was potentially the Alpha due to the inexperienced style of the alpha's message. Today's message is completely different in style to the previous two days and I think that is a new wolf doing what the Alpha should have done from the start and copying the seer's style.
