I still can't figure out why there was no FA Cup final last year. I mean, we went to all the effort and excitement of getting to the final and then it inexplicably never happens and is never heard from again. I guess we should let sleeping dogs lie though rather than ask why.

Hilarious! The biggest pile of hysterical guff on this thread so far. Full of totally unsubstantiated presumptions whipped up by the rumour mill.

This has to be a great opportunity to cut our losses on Gray and sack him without compensation of any kind for gross misconduct.

We’d have to subsidise his wages if we sell him? Nobody would pay him 70k per week. So sell him for £8m, pay 20k a week maybe till end of contract? Yeah we should still make money.

Yes it takes a while for exponential growth to kick in. A German study just found 81% of non infected people have some T cell immunity to covid. They assume its due to having caught other types of coronavirus. That could explain why deaths are going down in Sweden without a lockdown. One Nobel prize winning epidemiologist claims deaths fall once you get to between 500 and 1000 deaths per million. Hopefully this theory, the death rate dropping in Sweden and the German research are good signs. If not then the world is in for a helluva lot more pain unfortunately.

Funny thing is, I can actually imagine Leeds buying Gray if they get promoted. Even West Brom would take him.

I was going to suggest that maybe we should put him on the TM and force him to accept a wage cut if someone came in for him with a lower wage offer, and we could possibly do that by threatening to just cut our loses and sack him if he did not comply. However I thought that might be a bit of a convolution, therefore I suggested we should just sack him :D

If we sacked him he’d be in a position to ask for a higher wage from a new club!

You and Burns might be glad to know (outrageous presumption on my part, that I don’t come on these Forums much anymore.

Happy to reply to each point you put in order to ridicule me in private but not on here as it’s monitored by the club and a public forum.

Yes, I’m only a fan. So are most others and while I’m happy to have a reasoned well mannered conversation at any match or somewhere when the Covid thing is over.

Grays actions were arrogant and without thought for the “group” as Nigel Pearson puts it. Players speak in retrospect that they expect and will take fines for breaching club conduct codes. That’s why I stand by removing Gray and Quina from the group. I’ve headed up or been part teams of people and sometimes you have to take such action for the benefit of the silent majority.

I know/ have spoken to parents of players in the Watford set up this season and before. Two of whom are BAME. I don’t have to and I won’t say more on here to identify who they are as it’s not helpful just to satisfy you or defend myself against your hysterical put down of my opinion.

You put downs are typical of what now happens on this forum to stop people posting.

Ridicule and insult anyone who has different information, a different opinion or view of the event, especially if it doesn’t suit your narrative.

One recollection I will give you without naming who it is on a public forum was a conversation during the Pozzo era with the father of a BAME Watford youth player who was very concerned that a certain clique of players in his year were distracting him from his potential achievement by their considerable pressure on the son to go out clubbing and having late nights doing God knows what. Not all the squad or the coaches approved of such conduct so they kept it quiet but you’d be naive to think that peer pressure isn’t there, even in the first team.

It gives the Gray haters the opportunity to come on and do the usual brainless tripe comments as per usual. All very predictable. He's apologised and the club will deal with him and the other players regarding their futures in due course. End of.

You called him ‘toxic’ and stated he should be sacked. Yet you’re taking the moral high ground because someone suggested that was pretty ridiculous?

You’ve taken offence at someone on here giving you ‘put-downs’ and stated you’d like to indulge in something well-mannered - but it’s okay for you to put down Gray and not be well-mannered in calling someone you don’t know toxic?

I don't think I've hidden the fact that I really dislike Gray, nothing has changed except he has confirmed what a idiot he is.

I don't know him and he may be a lovely bloke but I cannot see past his previous homophobic (punished) and racist (not addressed) tweets, the complete waste of money he was as a record transfer, his inability to play football and previous connections with the scùm.

Not a these things are his fault.

I'll now add having ******* party against national restrictions during a pandemic. I would think anyone who did this was an idiot it just happens to be him, again. Quina you are also a prat for going.

    This is his fault.

That he has scored a few important goals is a poor argument, I would hope if we had spent the same on somebody else that they would have scored at least as many if not more.

Apologies when you are told you have to don't mean much to me.

Has he changed, who knows, but I wouldn't want a 'reformed' fraudster managing my finances or paedophile babysitting my children.

I also dislike Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn, I've never met them either.

I don't hate Gray and haven't really commented on this. I think he's been a disappointment for sure, but he trys hard, has good movement and is always available for selection. However, what he did was utterly idiotic, and an apology only mitigates that to some degree. Deeney has made a huge media issue about not wanting to play due to his son's previous condition and now Gray does this in the middle of a relegation battle? I think he deserves heavy criticism for what he has done. Saying "he has apologised. End. Of" simply doesn't cut it in my view. I find his behavior an extreme disappointment.

Whilst today’s comments don’t explicitly clear it up, I’d say they point more towards Chalobah being present at the party than they do some theory about Chalobah and Quina living together.

Personally I think the fans should do as the club has done and draw a line under it, at least until the end of the season.

  28. The Recluse

    The Recluse Reservist

Earlier in the thread I presumed Chalobah hadn't been present at Grays house because the club put out a statement saying they were aware of 2 players contravening lockdown protocols (https://www.watfordfc.com/news/club-statement-lockdown-protocols).

It seems odd he hasn't apologised publicly if he was there, seeing as the other 2 have.
And it's not like the club to put out poorly worded statements or press releases which can be called into question at a later date - that just never happens.

According to the Daily Mail, U23 player Kane Crichlow was also at Grays get together and 'faced the same sanctions as Gray, Quina & Chalobah' this week.

That'll be the same Crichlow who, as I've already mentioned in this thread, Chalobah took under his wing when the youngster broke his ankle and had him move in with him & his girlfriend to help with his rehabilitation.

And yet the club put out a statement saying they were 'aware of social media posts which suggest two players contravened Government lockdown protocols'.

Bit of a strange thing for the Mail to report now though.

Again unprofessional and stupidity but I guess he wasn't going to play.

If this is true, in a twisty crazy way it could provide room for an explanation of Chalobah not attending but still having to be quarantined and yet never addressing it/making any kind of public apology. The plot thickens...

André Gray's girlfriend verbally abused and reduced to tears by male stranger in Sunningdale Waitrose, whilst stocking up on nibbles, party poppers and little cheesy biscuits.

Doesn't say it was WFC or football related, but I shouldn't be surprised. Who would hate on her for her tuneful and melodic popular music?

Still, the Waitrose staff are very good. As you'd expect in that part of Berkshire. Cooed and fussed over her and sent her home with a free bunch of flowers and a case of those little stubby french beer bottles for André (probably).

Is it? Bloody hell. Could I ask (if you know):

1). why? What are they hoping to learn?

2). Who has the enviable job of doing this monitoring?

3). Does anything happen as a result of the monitoring? Do they go and tap Pearson on the shoulder and say "well the consensus is, you want to be playing wellbeck and sarr a bit wider, drop pererya and bring in João Pedro"

    4) Are all other avenues of possible hornet dissent also monitored, such as Farcebook, Twatter and Insta-me-tickety-whatsapp?
