sorry if you lot dont want to here this and i dont mind if it gets closed i just want to show what relpy i got from the city when i email them about the other night

    Dear Mr Collins

    Thank you for your e-mail.

Persistent standing is not allowed at football matches in all seater stadiums,
it is a government directive and and puts the Club in breach of their Safety
Certificate. A number of Watford fans were warned on a number of times but chose
to ignore the warnings. In those circumstances then failing to adhere to stewards
instructions can only lead to an ejection which is what happened.

In the next block to the away fans stewards were actively engaged sitting down
home supporters, it is something that occurs at every home game so I cannot
accept that home fans were persistently standing.

You were treated no differently than any other supporters who visit our stadium.
We try to sit supporters down and start from the first few rows.

Some of the Watford fans who were ejected had been asked several times to sit
down and had become abusive to the stewards, I am not sure what you would expect
    the stewards to do...ignore it?
    I
Most of the Watford supporters were generally well behaved as we expected them
to be but you must understand that if you are asked to sit down then you should
comply, all Premiership Clubs have been given directives by the Football
Authorities to sit supporters down and I fear if you continue to ignore stewards
requests at other grounds then you may miss some further games.

Fair enough if all you wanna do is show others the response to expect. As I said in another thread a couple of days ago it's not necessarily the stewarding on one particular night that needs investigating, it's the whole damn system. Even in this thread we've already seen a prime example of inconsistency (Keiran standing 2nd half, no fuss. Others standing for two minutes, out the door).

yep, i stood for 90 minutes, about 6 rows back from where the lads who got chucked out were sitting, and didnt get asked to sit once

The main group to get thrown out were in the middle 6 or 7 rows back.

How many were thrown out from the back?

I was at the back, 2nd row down , I stood for the whole game and did not get asked to sit down once, a steward did actually speak to me to ask me to put my cigarette out but didn't say anythjing else to me or the others standing around us.

I didn't even see anyone else get thrown out.

Keiran, it's because they're youngsters mate! If they were a group of middle aged 18 stone skin heads they wouldn't have given them the same treatment! I stood for the entire game one row behind these lads that got thrown out and was asked once to sit down...i did sit down and then when the steward ****ed off i stood back up again and wasn't asked after that!

The city fans were standing for the entire match to the left of us and weren't asked once to sit down by their stewards!

Disgraceful behaviour from City stewards, they were totally out of order!

Coll123, we absolutely DO want stuff like this posted here, and a d4mn fine argument about it afterwards. The only reason the other thread was closed was due to it going completely off topic and turning into a chav chat.

    Thanks for posting it.

Same here, I stood for the full 90 minutes (so did the poor old boys next to me) and I was on the lower tier about 6 rows up from the lads who got chucked out, and there was a skinhead bloke near me who didn't get asked once to sit down,
but the young guy who did get chucked out was getting far too lippy

The point made earlier was right though, see 90 minutes sat down, or listen outside after travelling for 4-5 hours, seeing 2 minutes (getting wet) and then having to travel down again for another 4-5 hours?

It's just kids with no respect...

You're probably right Nick, but there's something to be said for being a bit shrewd around stewards. Even if it's only by doing what you did - sitting down when told til the guy's back was turned - it's all about massaging the ego of the steward. Then you can do what you want. I can't help but feel maybe these youngsters are a bit too quick to mouth off and if they've each got 1/2 a can of Carling in them they're probably a bit too lairy as well.

Actually Coll123 I'd be interested in seeing what you sent City in the first place if you would be so kind to post it?

The letter of reply is completely flawed and without substance.

If they checked the CCTV footage you would see clearly that they changed policy second half.

Suddenly for the whole 45 mins stewards were along the perimeter facing us. The stewards who were deployed behind the goal down the middle had turned 45 degrees to be facing us as opposed to facing the back of the stand and watching both sets of supporters.

They even tried sitting the stewards down to set an example at one point too.

maybe you should have written something a bit different. You kind of went in on the offensive, and when dealing with things like this, you need to go a bit softly

Do you notice how the stewards at northern clubs are heavy handed, whilst at Pompey this season you could have a laugh with the stewards and they'd let you stand up, sing, swear etc! I got asked to calm down by one steward after the penalty was given which was fair enough because my language/actions were aggresive towards the opposition fans! If that had been at a northern club i probably would have been thrown out!

10/10 for the stewarding at Pompey...it was spot on and made for an enjoyable atmosphere...and also at Charlton aswell!

Man City's stewarding along with Sheffield Utd's is some of the worse i've encountered!

True, it's easier to turn the other cheek...and it's not worth travelling all that way to miss most of the game...to be honest i don't think the lads were being abusive towards the stewards, i was only one row behind them and they were only arguing their point about their fans standing up and trying to provoke them!

It's a lesson learnt for them!

Coll, next time rather than pick an empty row to sit in with your mates just sit in with the vocal crowd and act like they do...if they chuck you out then you have every right to complain because it's victimisation!

If you don't want to do that then just sit down when you're told to then stand up again when they've turned around...that's what i did and they didn't bat an eye lid!
