Anyone know much about Chris Perry and whether he is good enough for what we need?

    From wikipedia
Christopher Perry (born April 26, 1973 in Carshalton, London) is an English football player who currently plays for West Bromwich Albion as a defender.

In 1991 Perry started his career at Wimbledon F.C., the team he supported as a boy, and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 1999, at which time he was possibly touted for England success.

When teammate Sol Campbell moved to Arsenal, Perry became a first choice member of the team from the 2001-02 season, until he lost his place in the team thanks to an injury (in January 2003, he incurred a herniated disc). Three months later and upon his return he found himself amongst up and coming stars such as Ledley King and Anthony Gardner, and joined Charlton Athletic in September 2003.

Having impressed, his move was made permanent in November 2003, in a Charlton side sitting in fourth place. Since this time he has featured frequently in the league, but not nearly as often in other competitions. On July 4, 2006 he joined West Bromwich Albion on a two year deal, after being released by Charlton. He was released because he rejected the opportunity of a one-year contract offer from Charlton on reduced terms of £3,000 a week less than his previous salary.

    Why would we sign him.

Would he be better than Danny or Jay?

He'd just be brought in as back up. Would he settle for that at this stage in his career?

Well, he sounds like another Malky. So maybe Malky's moving to Norwich and Perry's coming in as backup. Possibly lured by the possibility of a coaching role at a later stage?

I’d be disappointed if we paid money for Perry, would not be a good deal IMO, although I am aware beggars can’t be choosers! (I guess he does have Prem experience).

I’m sure we are only being linked with him because we were supposedly after him in the summer. He chose the Baggies and now he’s fallen out with their manager he wants out.

Somebody on Glory Horns says we will sign him and Anthony Gardener which would really surprise me as we hardly need defenders unless the club are thinking of letting MacKay go and god forbid maybe accept an offer for Shittu or Jay?

I think both MMac and Carlisle will both leave (retire). Meaning we'll have no cover.
