Okaka s now scored an EPL goal every 220 mins on the pitch , to Deeneys goal every 290 . Take out Deeneys penalties which is onky fair when comparing strikers , and his ratios is 1 goals per 420 minutes played .

Deeney has clocked up more assists but then Okaka offers so much more to his game than Deeney .

Whether Okaka has the capacity to prosper in a role with more responsibility , we don't know but on current form I see Deeney as squad back up...... on 100k a week

This was a fantastic game for the neutral, but it was a missed opportunity for Watford to claim a little bit of credit from a woeful season, by letting it slip though na*ve defending once again.

All 4 goals were avoidable, and a competent side would have kept a clean sheet tonight. We just cannot do even the basic things correct. It's just incredible that we are so hopelessly open time and time again. It was very similar to the Southampton home match.

Chelsea gifted us one goal though, and Janmaat scored a good individual goal. Okaka's introduction was long overdue, and I think the team seletion of Niang and Capoue just did not work at all and should have been changed long before it was.

We only had 3 shots on target and they all went in, so it made for a good spectacle, but it doesn't fool me. This was a long way short from being Chelsea's first XI but we just threw the match away with basic incompetence. It was a game we should have got something from and taken advantage of the situation.

Mazzarri has to go. It's the first time I've taken this stance, but we're a complete mess of a team. Shambolic defensively and without a solid base, there is no hope of progress.

I enjoyed the game, in a keystone cops kind of way........but even though it was a crazy match and score line, I'm sure it did not impress the hierarchy too much.

It looks like Deeney and Success will be off next season as well.....neither get on with Wally.

You speak like we've gone down without fighting like Sunderland or Middlesborough! We stayed up, played unspectacular football and enjoyed a few belting wins against Man U, Arsenal and West Ham away. That's really all there is to it. Tonight was entertaining and we at least had a go.

    Season over.

Had a few beers tonight, and as I alluded to, missed the first two goals of the second half as Lord Doyley was amongst us.

Thought we played well today, against a side who, yes they made changes but still had a side out who were deemed good enough to be a part of a PL winning squad. As well as Hazard, Willian, Luiz, Azpilicueta and Kante. I believe 3 or 4 of those made team of the year, so hardly "D" team...

Didn't notice how people seem to be slaughtering capoue, maybe I need to rewatch it. Thought Mapps and Amrabat were our weak link as Chelsea cut through with every diagonal ball, meaning we were exposed a fair few times until switches were made, and even then it was 50-50.

I don't like this team. I really don't. I have previously given them **** for being bottleless gifs who give up at the slightest sign of hard work, however this wasn't the case tonight, they dug deep, worked hard, retained possession against a superior side, and created chances.

Was it perfect? No. Was it a lot better than what we've come to expect? Definitely.

Enjoy it, for what it was, being involved in an open game with the champions of England and not just sitting back like a championship side, but going for them like a premier league side should.

Hate players like Capoue, who clearly don't strive to be great, they just settle for mediocrity and a pay packet. It's becoming all too common in football and killing the game.

People might think Ronaldo is a ***** and it'd be hard to disagree but you cannot knock the mans dedication to being the best, the work ethic and discipline is unbelievable. Need more players with that kind of drive because football really is starting to lose it's soul at the top level.

As for the game, it was fun at least. Deeney must be off, that was a big middle finger from WM. Okaka done himself no harm. Don't want Niang. Amrabat could probably be alright without the defensive responsibility. Doccoure first name on the team sheet next season. Janmaat is class not sure how some don't see it. Starting to slowly love Holebas. Mapps limited but I'd take him over a Capoue any day.

Saw Janmaat blatantly ignore Mazzarri instructions at point which was quite funny.

Now outright conceded the most goals from corners this season. Think we're nearly in double figures!

Would take losing like that over what we've seen recently any day of the week.

    Walter Out.

That was the sort of performance we've screaming for for nearly 3 months now. The players were given a bit of a license to go and see what they can do. I'd rather lose 4-3 every week than 1/2 nil and leave bored out of my mind wondering what the excuse will be for players not turning up. I only hope Walt sees how much of a difference it makes to the fans and allows the team to play properly on Sunday.

Niang isnt a target man and his movement wasn't very good today. Amrabat is simply awful and reminds me of Doyley running up and down the wing.
Capoue is a passenger 90% of the time but has the ability to come good which is frustrating to say the least.
Our discipline is shameful, but on a plus side we might be forced to play 4 at the back against City purely through injuries and suspensions.
Was Success injured or just dropped from the squad? Need to get rid of Mazzarri before he upsets the whole dressing room

I'm a big fan of janmaat and think we need more players like him in the squad. Berghuis for example
Doucoure is a class above the rest of our side. Great player.
Okaka looks a nuisence for defenders. Very unorthodox which I'm beginning to quite like.

  22. Totally agree with your comments about Amrabat. Anyone who says his first half of the season was poor is having a rather large Giraffe.

Since he came back though, he has lacked confidence to go down the outside, and he has turned into Jurado++, cutting in and predominantly playing sideways or backwards with the odd decent ball going forward. He virtually never goes down the outside now, staying much deeper, but before his injury he frequently got up to the box or touch line to cut the ball in with some very decent balls.

Whether it is a about confidence, or being instructed to cut from deeper rather than go wide and long I don't know; but earlier in the season he was not just beating several men regularly, but making space for Janmaat or Pereyra, whoever was fit at the time, and playing a killer ball in to them, who then provided the assists or goal that Amrabatt gets no credit for from fans who watch stats rather than matches.

There are Amrabat YouTube highlight videos for the games first half of the season, including the Liverpool game when they tonked us, where he regularly gave defenses of all ilks a torrid time. He would have been dangerous if Troy and Iggy were on their game.

Sorry if I appear miserable and a grump bucket but the bottom line is we lost. Again. Yes we scored three and showed some fight and it was way more entertaining than usual, but at the end of the night we lost.

As a Watford supoorter, I hate that.

I enjoyed the match. Amrabat a shadow of his pre injury self. Either he has been told to do another job or he is no fully fit. Slows down attacks, loses the ball to often. interesting watching him v Kennedy. Once we weathered the first ten minutes and Holebas had taken his mandatory yellow for the team, we grew into the match. The John Terry goal was poorly defended so it was great that he provided the asssist for Capoue. Despite him being responsible for losing the ball that led to their winner, I thought in the second half Capoue and Janmat combined will. Okaka came on and suddenly we had a player upfront who keep possession. Our defensive frailties are obviously exaggerated by the loss of so many defenders, but I would not want to add a worn out John Terry to our squad, he looked well past it. Not sure why the half a dozen children started the Walter out chant as it was one of our best away performances, and I suspect if we had need that point tonight we would have seen additional substitutions to stiffen the team with fresh legs after the equaliser. The seasons done, and unfortunately Walter is going to sign off with six straight defeats on his record.

I enjoyed that game more than most this season but hated the line up, the defending was still comical, we seemed to give the ball away a lot, didn't look fluid going forward using the Bat as an outlet, Capoue looked his normal meh self and I feel Walt and Deeney can't be in a club together

I fear that this coach is not getting the best out of the players and, if retained, will take us down next season
I fear that some of these players have become too powerful and unmotivated and will take us down next season regardless of who is in charge

Sort of feels that a huge upheaval is needed in the summer which, I fear, may take us down

Thoroughly entertaining match and thought we played very well overall, certainly food for thought for the recruitment team over the Summer. Once again, zonal marking at corners just doesn't work, go back to man marking and we'll concede a lot less. Capoue really isn't a holding midfielder, much better in that advanced role. Niang starting up front just went to show how badly we need to purchase some strikers over the Summer, Okaka always looks great when he comes off the bench but then when he starts he's quite average, perhaps better as an impact player. We really didn't miss Deeney last night and we seemed to play better with Deeney/Okaka up front, perhaps because WM changed his tactics from hoof to pass which always helps.

Really entertaining game which is the only thing I was really hoping for before the match why can’t more end of season matches be like that rather than cagey 0-0s etc!?

Woeful woeful defending, there is simply no excuse for conceding 3 from corners. No matter what injuries we have every player on the pitch should know their job at a corner and stay solid at them but ultimately the blame has to lay at the coaches feet as it wasn’t a one off where we had a bad day at the office defending set pieces it’s been over the season.

Felt for Gomes, don’t think there’s an awful lot he could have done today, don’t really remember thinking he could have come for one of the corners or anything but I could be wrong.

Prodl was as good as a defender in a side conceding 4 can be, kept us top of the ill-discipline table.

Marriappa struggled first half particularly but didn’t have much protection against Hazard.

Holebas did ok got his standard booking, looked reluctant to cross when we just had Niang on understandably.

Capoue is the most infuriating player but at least he’s had the very useful knack of popping up with a few goals this season which does help and the fact he was alert to Terry’s mistake showed an instinct not many have this season.

Behrami was ok didn’t do much of note that I remember.

Ducoure was one of our best player again, a real engine who needs to be built around.

Cleverley was decent but a bit lost for periods of the game I thought good assist.

Janmaat I have always really loved, I’d be happy for him to just be seen as a winger next season and used defensively is need be, great goal and looked a lot less awkward on the left than he has previously, hope he can stay fit more next season.

Amrabat someone who looked lively and brave the first half of the season has offered nothing for me, he just seems to lack so much football intelligence, runs down blind alleys, holds on to the ball too long, doesn’t just keep the ball with simple passes is he sees nothing. When he did roll it back to Clev we scored from his cross. He gets caught out defensively so often which is part of the territory playing a wing back position but he too often just doesn’t offer enough either way. I defended him earlier in the season but for a primarily attacking player to have so little direct input going forward both Janmaat and Holebas have chipped in with a few goals it’s just not good enough and I’d say time to move him on.

Niang Don’t really know what to make of his performance, definitely doesn’t look comfortable as a lone central forward and he drifted wide etc but again he barely had any service for large part of the game and started doing similar things to Troy when he gets isolated. Think he is best as a front 3.

Okaka did well when on and made life difficult for them and took his goal well.

As for Maz.. left the changes too late as always, wasn’t brave enough in going for it against a relatively inexperienced but of course very talented Chelsea side. I just don’t understand him, gets worked up on the sideline but no one takes a blind bit of notice whereas when Conte does it you can see the players taking energy from it and lifting themselves. I saw an article where he said he was angry with the ref that there was a foul before the Chelsea winner, which is just a joke. You can’t blame anyone else for conceding so many from corners. The side again lost their discipline when we conceded the winner which to me shows a poor mentality throughout the side, glad they showed some fight and passion but you need to be smart with it. He needs to go, he is a dark dark cloud over the club and he seems to be dividing the side and pushing players he doesn’t like out, his use of Deeney and lack of use of Success is just bizarre or an ideal time to play a few of the youngsters from the bench at least.

City game will be a laugh with a patched together defence and their attack, can’t wait!

Great game with every player putting in a real shift (except Capoue). Kennedy showed why Walt didn't want him. Is it too late for Janmaat to be entered in to Goal of the Season? Chelsea catering very good - cold beer (not over-priced), prompt and polite service - added to what was all in all a very enjoyable evening. Would we take John Terry next season? He might be able to provide the leadership we are so clearly lacking on the pitch

If we're going to defend zonally, it might be worth making one of those zones at the edge of the box so the opposition can't just float a ball over to be volleyed like they did half a dozen times last night. Just a thought.
