Providing he is here come 1st September:

    He plays left mid
    He plays left back
    He'll play on the wing
    And he'll overlap
First he joined us on loan
    Now he calls Watford home
    It's Daniel Pudil
    It's Daniel Pudiiiil
    Wooooahoohoh...

To the tune of Dirty Old Town

I posted this in another topic

Anyways, me being a bored person at work, I experiment with chants.

I came up with this one for my club the Wanderer's, but I don't think I'll push it to be used. You blokes might like it since the inspiration of the song came from Elton John's Crocodile Rock, and I believe he's had a significant and positive influence and role on your club.

    Just replace Wanderer's with Watford.

Don't mind my stupid voice, I ain't a pro singer for a reason.

As a customisation of the "Mighty RBB" chant:

"We're from the Vic in West Watford
Home of the mighty Golden Boys
    We will follow you
And always be by your side
    C'mon c'mon you Horns
    C'mon c'mon you Horns
    C'mon c'mon c'mon you mighty Horns"

and, to the same tune as "Argentina sera campion":

    "Watford will be victorious
    Watford will be victorious
    We'll always support you
    And never desert you
    So Watford will be victorious"

In the top suggestion, I decided to put "mighty Horns" rather than "Golden Boys" in the last 3 lines as I think it scans & carries better.

In the 2nd suggestion, I've chosen "victorious" because it scans properly & using "champions" is unlikely to be true for longer than next season....!

All comments, suggested improvements etc welcomed.

I haven't read through all the threads about this so not sure if this has been mentioned but....

That CPFC chant really got stuck in my head after we played them which was a nightmare, I tried substituting double u fc and Watford fc but they never really worked. I have finally got rid of the CPFC bit by singing 1881, sounds great, easy to sing and says who we, the fans, are.

It's been brought up by a lot of people - you're not the only one that got it stuck in their head. :)

Not sure why you feel Watford FC doesn't work; CPFC is four syllables, so is Watford FC. 1881 is five. Watford FC fits far better, and is in fact perfect.

    Hi Arakel,

You're right of course. I actually have no idea why 1881 works better for me or how it managed to oust CPFC from my head but it did. Maybe because it feels a little bit less of a rip off using something other than the team name and more personal to us.

I'll sing whatever everyone else is singing anyway!

This thread would work better if people posted comments about how much they like suggestions so we can work out if it's worth trying out a particular chant...like Arakel has done above.

I think the Battochio chant might work if he stays & starts more games!

Not sure about Linslade's Pudil suggestion as I'm struggling to picture how it would sound, but others may have a view.

If we don't get feedback, we'll end up with so many suggested chants we'll not try out anything more adventurous than our current pretty mundane collection.

Fair enough - although most chants are ripped off anyway. :D

The "CPFC" song is a bloody annoyingly catchy chant though. Definitely one we should try.

You think Palace didn't do the same? Just like "We Love You", which started in Germany (St Pauli I think). They introduced it to England and then made CPFC their own and are often credited with creating the song but I don't think that is the case.

No harm in using a good idea but making it personal is better.

Anyone else a fan of the Dale Cavese?

I've been to Aldershot with a friend of mine and they can keep that going for 10-20 minutes a lot of the time.

    Real catchy.

Surely some bright young thing can come up with words around Lola by The Kinks but replacing it with Zola?

Original, catchy, short and he is worthy!

Here's my personal favourite chants which I think will work.....

    1) Gianfranco's, yellow and black army, Gianfranco's, yellow and black army, etc

    2) The ''Who do we sing for chant''

    3) The ''Just can't get enough' tune. Der der der der der der der etc with ''Watford F C'' or ''Franco Zola'' or ''Almen Abdi'' at the end!

    4) Hopefully if we're on a promotion charge.... EI EI EI OOOO, up the football league we go, when we get promotion, this is what we sing, we are Watford, we are Watford, Zola is our King.

Also the idea of all doing a ''ohhhhhhh'' on the 18th and 81st minute then bellowing out our fave song once the minute is up is brilliant!

Numbers 1-3 above I really like as they are very simple and can keep going for a long time rather than whimpering out after one verse.

I really like the "Take me home Gianfranco" idea - I think it would sound really good, the words are easy, and to the best of my knowledge it's unique to us.

Agreed. I would love to hear the whole of the Rookery singing this.

Yes; I don't recall who came up with it (it wasn't me), but it was as follows:

    Take me home, Gianfranco
    To the place I belong
    Vicarage Road
    Herfordshire
    Take me home, Gianfranco

    (Repeat as desired)

It's good but wouldn't be unique. Man Utd fans have sung it for a few years. Nothing wrong with it though.

    Like the song chaps,

Just my opinion but only alteration I would make would be to change the word ''Hertfordshire'' to the line ''To see the Hornets'

    In no particular order....

    1) Who do we sing for ? We sing for Watford

    2) Yellow

    3) Dale Cavese

    4) (On the 18th and 81st Minute, home AND away)

    Take me home, Gianfranco
    To the place I belong
    Vicarage Road
    Hertfordshire
    Take me home, Gianfranco

    5) Hoist up the watford flag

So far not a bad 5, happy to replace a couple for better ideas. ?

I really can't get the Palace 'glad all over' chant out of my head 3 weeks since the final. Watford need a chant that they play and the fans can sing along too at the beginning of the game and potentially when we score, and at the final whistle. Just a thought which when watching on youtube looked really good at selhurst park when the whole ground sings together. Just finding that song which is catchy, as personally I think yellow is. Poor choice of song; too slow and as proven at Wembley nobody wants to join in

Wouldn't necessarily say replace, but in addition to, I would add the CPFC song (Watford FC instead). So simple, bloody annoyingly catchy.

Can I recommend another song, it's a song we would be using if Melbourne Victory didn't use it. It's called Ajax Tifosi. It's the song in this video after Dale Cavese (about 2:45) in.

    Watford FC (x4 clap)
We Do Love You (4x clap)
    The 1881 (4x clap)
Has A Song For You (4x clap)

The other RBB song ("Streets of Watford"/"cmon you mighty horns") would work well to get everyone singing and on their feet and it is repetitive which we don't have many off. Possibly more likely to be sustained than Dale Cavese, which I quite like but has been tried before and didn't catch on.

"Just Can't Get Enough" is another that could have a place in time.

Just putting it out there, we do Dale Cavese with trumpets and all ;)

Not the best example of it to how we were doing compared to the latter stages of the season
