I'd have had the Norwich LB in there, the Greek fella.

    Harry Stottle is it?

Fits in well with their footballing philosophy.

If it was Watford v that team I would make us strong favourites.

Even if we had to play Lazaar as they had Masina ?

  5. ITK platypus

Oh absolutely not, we lose 5-0 in that case.

I was assuming an evil clone of Masina is created for the game who plays for TOTS. What becomes of the clone’s fate after the match I leave up to the EFL.

Giannoulis? He’s only played 15 games. (Masina has played 23). I think the team had enough Norwich as it was anyway.

Didn't Vydra get PotS in like February, and then didn't score for the rest of the regular season?

Yes - they gave one award to win and another to Zaha as they were nominated for both.

Nah mate, you've forgotten it's Archie Meadis. Big fan of the post-match communal bath.

Even a Luton fan on another site said Sierralta should have been in!

    Says it all...

Bet Foster would have got in had he played all season and kept the same record as Dan B has.

Not quite true - Vydra was nominated for both young player of the season and Championship player of the season and won the (senior) latter award, whilst Tom Ince, a year older than Vydra, had to make do with the young player award.

Zaha had won the same young player award the previous season.

I don't know if he would have kept the same record as Dan (though he certainly wouldn't have conceded too many), but anything close and he'd have got in lol, the Cycling GK is bigger than half the clubs in the Championship

Well seems fair at £5k per point, except when you realize the like of Success and Lazzaar are getting a few thousand out of it!

The story of legend. Whether or not it's actually true doesn't matter. I don't think it's actually true, or certainly not the cause of the relegation.

The cause for relegation was a lack of attention to defensive recruitment, VAR stitch ups, collective managers ganging up on us in vital games (Pep, Arteta, Bruce), poor head coaching choices, Covid, Geri injury. We had to try very hard to get relegated last season, but the perfect storm came together to ensure it happened.

    Don’t disagree. That’s why I said supposedly.

If it is true, then that definitely kick started the relegation. Why the heck would you want to play for a club that broke their promise and didn’t pay you what would have been agreed.

Anyway my comment was more tongue in cheek.

These awards are a joke. Try looking at the league table. Which team conceded 30 goals, finishing 2nd? Watford. Which team conceded 65 goals, finishing outside the playoffs? Cardiff.
You don't need to be a statistician to work out which team gets a centre back in the ToTS.

And Buendia winning player of the season, with Sarr not even nominated or in the ToTS, is even more ridiculous.

  27. LeedsOrn

    LeedsOrn Reservist

Buendia was easily the player of the season; his performances this season were head and shoulder above every other player in the league, including Sarr. Toney maybe the only one who comes close. Buendia's season this season is maybe in the top 2 or 3 individual seasons of all time in the Championship.

Sarr probably should have been in the TOTS though, although the way he has carried us hasn't always translated into goals or assists, which are the more rudimentary statistics on which the compilers of the TOTS rely. I think Sarr has the higher ceiling - he is more two footed and considerably stronger and faster than Buendia, whose game is dependent somewhat on his side dominating possession. But anyone who thinks that Sarr should have been POTs over Buendia needs to take off their yellow-tinted (Watford, not Norwich) glassess off.

Should have just shunted Buendia to attacking mid and put Sarr right wing, sorry Pukki, but nobody decent plays 4-4-2 these days

Not one team in the league wouldn't have Sarr in their starting 11. Would say the same for most of the EPL too.

  30. LeedsOrn

    LeedsOrn Reservist

Yeah that's fair. Or he could have come in for Danjuma. That said, I don't think a side with a midfield two of Mowatt and Olise would get too far, as good as they both are.

It all started with the hubristic pre-season that was arranged to prove we were ‘moving to the next level’. We were totally under-prepared as the performances against BHA & Spam proved & we never recovered. Most of the squad were not fit enough, physically or mentally.

  33. GarbeliaHornet

    GarbeliaHornet Academy Graduate

I was less implying that Buendia didn't deserve it, but rather that if he was Player of the Season, then that sets the bar of TOTS entry far below Sarr's skills. I would agree with the idea that Watford's best players were incompatible with the 4-4-2 though, that has been common knowledge since Xisco switched.
