Would love Chalobah back though not sure what level he's at now but experience over in Italy and being part of a title winning side cannot hurt you'd think! Even more so would love Ake back though there are strong rumours Bournmouth are close to getting Ake permanently for £20m!

 

Have to agree with your assessment. Both Ake and Chalobah are now in and around Chelsea first team. The Muffins were desperate to get Ake and failed. He is worth at least 20 million and Chalobah at least 15, with potential for more if he does well Tuesday. Zola got the best out of Chalobah from one so young. With Doucoure and others do we really need him now? On serious money at 50k+ plus per week. We tried I think to loan him a second time when on 35k per week and that fell through. Sometimes one should be grateful for what we had and move on. coyhs!

 

Sky are now reporting that we are interested in Chalobah. Would like to see him back.

We have been looking for someone to play the Chalobah role for 4 years. Chalobah could finally be the answer!

 

If we landed Chalobah it would really confirm the Pozzo’s have changed focus in the market because he won’t be a cheaper deal like they managed with Hughes.

Would like it to happen, would also think it would mean Capoue/Watson/Suarez/Behrami being shipped out. Wonder if the Chalobah links are true if it’ll be as well as someone like Lemina or instead of.

Would be very happy if he did return though!

 

I still think back to Chalobah's performances for Watford as being pretty amazing. He showed such maturity as the main playmaker for one so young. Zola put alot of trust in him and we were not disappointed. Still trying to follow the flight of the ball when he scored against Leicester. If we are in for Nat does it mean the end of our pursuit of Allan or Lemina? Might just be another wind-up. Ar' well will become clear from tomorrow onwards. coyhs!

 

I'm sure we will inquire, but how keen we are is anyone's guess. "Sky Sources" are usually ok for Watford I think, as they are often Adam Levental.

Lemina, Capoue, Chalobah, Doucoure, and to an extent Cleverly, all seem very similar players to me. I'm not sure how that would work out.

 

Why not? He only has a year left on his contract with Chelsea. If he decides not to sign a new one this summer then they are going to have to sell him or lose him on a free/tribunal next summer.

Envisage this would be instead of Lemina. It's still a massive yes from me. Was outrageously talented when only 17 for us and looked mature in his Chelsea cameos.

Not bothered about the price, just get it done! Chalobah could at least say "I want to play for Watford" instead of the usual "I want to play in the Premier League".

I believe he plays with Hughes in one of the England youth teams, and I wonder if that might have anything to do with Hughes deciding to join us? Likewise Hughes joining us might have influenced Chalobah to consider rejoining us?

Has he progressed since he left us? He was excellent in 2012/13 but since then has had underwhelming loans at Forest, Burnley, Boro, Napoli and Reading! This season he didn't go out on loan and made one league start for Chelsea in the dead rubber against us.

Would love him to come back and play for us, and Southgate seems to be pressuring him to get out and play some football but I would be very concerned by his five loan spells since leaving us.

Yeah, indeed, the answer is no, he hasn't at all. He's played about 5 games in the last 2 seasons, and put in a series of mostly anonymous performances in the u21 Euros, with the possible exception of the semi final. He wouldn't even get in our starting XI as it stands; this would be an extremely disappointing resolution to the Allan/Lemina saga.

Saw him in March / April and told him to come back to Watford. He didn't seem overly impressed!

 

I think this would be very good business. We didn't even put in a 25 man squad last season due to lack of home grown talent over 21. Was amazing for us on loan and still has time on his hands to get back to his best by playing regularly. Price may be an issue as can't see Chelsea letting him go for cheap due to the price they just got for Ake. It's divs like Bournemouth paying over the odds for players that make prices of players go through the roof year on year

None of this is right.

 

If this happens I think we'll get a much better price than Bournemouth got for Ake as the situations behind the sale are different. Ake was much more important to Chelsea than Chalobah and will now need replacing.

Chelsea look set to sign Bakayoko meaning they'll have Kante, Matic, Fabregas, Bakayoko all competing for 2 starting spots with Loctus-Cheek arguably ahead of him too. Chalobah isn't gonna get a looking unless there's a serious injury situation.

Alternatively Chelsea play 3 CB's. Cahill, Luiz and Azpilcuetta. They've just lost Terry and are supposedly hoping to loan out Zouma, which would've left Ake as pretty much their only back up option.

 

Chalobah is also going into the last year of his contract and is less established in the PL. If we payed more than 15million with a buy-back I think we'd have gotten a bad deal to be honest.

 

Bad news! We haven't even signed him yet!

He played a collective 159 league minutes last season, and made 5 league appearances for Napoli the season before, for a grand total of 31 minutes. He was mostly poor at the Euros. I suppose whether he'd get in the starting XI is a matter of personal belief, though I'd be surprised if you're actually claiming he would.
