Missed opportunity to end your post with "it all turns out SORT of ok in the end"!

Easy mistake to make and you've clarified something for me -
I also tried to buy someone in a window once but she kept saying "no buyback, no buyback" which really put me off.
She wasn't English or under 21 though.

Just watched it. Lovely bloke. Great vibes from the interview. He's ready to step on and could be a great player. Obviously Hughes was a factor in his coming as well as Troy.

I remember how much he loved Chelsea when he was here before, and loved talking Chelsea with Zola. But he's left them now. He had such great memories with us and wants more. Welcome home Nat.

It's refreshing that we have Hughes who did not chase instant fame and the money of EPL and Chalobah desperate to establish himself at the top. I remember when we wanted him back on loan after he had a new contract of 35k a week but he chose elsewhere. Some of the WFC fans were less than complimentary. I can see now that Chalobah is well-focused on his long term career aims but has not compromised his integrity in the process. Excited now that Silva is a guy who can focus on both each player to give of their best and develop but also the collective chemistry and blend between them. Not one to rely on coaching manuals exclusively the TLC of players will be paramount. I reckon a prickly character like Holebas will be handled intelligently. Silva appears to be one who will show respect to all and this will pay dividends when it comes back the other way. Even Berghuis appears happy because I think he realises that if he does not go back to Holland he will be treated fairly and given opportunities. Really positive about how we appear to be moving forward at present. COYHS

The signings that we have made, combined with what I am hoping is a good coach make me optamustic for the season, suddenly I feel more comfortable going into the new season with the players we have. I'd still like some striking and defensive options but with a positive manager projecting confidence to the players we might just do alright

I still think we desperately need another attacking option, more so than more defenders.

Unless we ae hoping Success stays fit I wouldn't not want to rely on Okaka and Deeney for goals..

I agree that we still need to fill some positions but Gino is not just throwing resources at the squad. This is fine tuning based on planning ahead. Don't think Silva is a coach coming in demanding necessarily this player or that player. If Capoue is staying I reckon he will realise this guy needs to be more consistent and his stamina in games maximised. I think Capoue is technically is as good as anyone at Spurs but he can't play high press or intensity week in Week out. Expect Silva to get 5 per cent or more at least out of Capoue but will use him carefully and rest him at times. I reckon end of last season for those players not crocked, others would have been close to burn out. They dug deep away at Chelsea but otherwise it was a bit of a car crash. I am optimistic that Silva will be much more controlled in his approach and this dhould bring improvement on and off the pitch. COYHS

Nope, he wanted to come back here but Chelsea insisted we pay the majority/all of the wages on his new contract and we said no.

Yes. A good signal that gave both parties a solid platform until he became a passenger and his career was derailed.

Lovely shout out to the forum from the Guardian today.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/jul/16/nathaniel-chalobah-chelsea-tiemoue-bakayoko

'Within half an hour a group of Watford fans on an internet forum had proved, using the grain of wood in a table, the shade of magnolia on the wall, a tiny section of visible armrest and an old and apparently unrelated club video, that Hall and thus Chalobah himself was at their team’s training ground, a process that was at least as entertaining to watch as the majority of the Hornets’ games last season and certainly involved more creativity. At 11pm, the cat now being some distance from the bag, the player’s transfer was officially confirmed.'

I'd say the mistakes made in terms of recruitment, both managerial and playing staff, over the last 12-18 months is a bigger factor in our refreshed strategy this Summer. Sure, planning ahead is always going to be important but it's the mistakes we've made since getting Promoted that's the driving factor at the moment.

I'm wasting as much energy as I can in order to create as much carbon in the atmosphere as I can. If my theory works, it should speed up global warming exponentially, thus permanently making the sun shine in the UK and providing more than enough energy for Capoue's hand-held sola panels. He'll play each game as if it were the start or end of the season even through winter. Of course if my plan fails we'll all just choke and football don't matter much anyway.

That video alone has made him my favorite signing so far. Not only is he a decent singer, but he is already creating a friendly atmosphere within the team which is definitely going to help with morale in games. Unlike last season where it seemed really toxic, the team looks really happy together (currently); look at the smile on Berghuis!!! All this and Deeney ain't even there - maybe he is part to blame for the toxicity in the changing room last season?
