Lee Cook (what ever happened to him) scored the winner I think. Anyway as for today's game - when will Janmaat get injured?
That was such a harsh sending off, there was no malice in that at all. Just before their goal Richarlison was pulled down from behind but it was ignored. How many games do the refs insist on ruining every season?
We never get any decisions in Lancashire - bloody county wants burning to the ground - I hate the place and its fans.
Zeegelaar sending off I'm not sure we can have too many complaints about. We should definitely have been given a pen for the Richarlison foul Janmaat could also have given away a pen though.
Because it was Richarlison being fouled perhaps.. Maybe the officials have a negative reputation of him after the Arsenal stuff?
To be fair They looked as good as us and it wasn’t their fault the ref was a blind tosser Janmaat was everywhere , Gomes class as always , very very disappointing
Malice or intent or any other word describing the mentality of the tackler don't come into the equation when deciding serious foul play. If the referee thinks there is excessive force or an opponent is endanger it's a red card. For me it was an orange card tackle. We've all seen them given either way. The thing that grates is the lack of consistency.
We would have won that with 11 men. Burnley are a very unremarkable team. Deeney & Gray are both as ineffective as each other. Mariappa was well off it today, constantly making mistakes. Carrillo reminds me a lot of Anya, picks up the ball with pace and directness but has no intelligence on what to do with it. That was Stoke all over again.
Football this season is quickly turning me into a psychopath. I want to rip both Probert and Atkinson's faces off with my farkin teeth. Oh, and stick a fat machete in Son Hueng Min's stupid little annoying face
Was not a sending off referee ruined the game Carrillo should have won a penalty, from the angle I was watching Richarlison got to the ball first for the second cant be to sure on that one though. 11 vs 11 we would have won that Burnley were crap!
It's always the same at Burnley or Preston. We never seem to win in the part of the country. It's weird. Not only that, we always play crap, no matter how good our team is playing beforehand. We always get shafted when Lee Probert is officiating. Another premediated display from him. No doubt he'll have a laugh about it in 10 years time when he's out in Shanghai and decides to come clean, just like Clattenberg. Football is sometimes unpredictable, apart from when we play this type of game.......when the outcome is always predictable.
Didn't deserve anything from that. We were down to ten men from the first whistle as Deeney is just a complete passenger and has been for 18 months! Pereyra bottled everything, was delighted when he went off! Carrillo tried, Richarlison was poor, Gray didn't even touch the ball in the 12 minutes he was on - Kabasele clumsy, Holebas wasteful, Janmaat best outfield player, Mariappa was poor (no idea how Silva didn't play Prodl), Cleverly and Doucoure both far too slow in possession and wasteful. We got what we deserved. F**k all. Yes, Probert is a cheating c**t, but we knew that years ago after THAT Bournemouth game when he sent Angella off (wrongly) after 27 seconds - Yes, we should have had a penalty for foul on Richardson JUST before their goal, but that aside we deserved F**K all! Only positive out of today, Zaha SHOULD be banned for diving (shock).
Nah, replay shows defender got the ball before Richarlison, who then flopped enthusiastically to the floor with little contact. Not a pen.
Awful decision that ruined the game early on. There will not be many softer reds all season. We should have probably on the balance of things had a penalty too. Not that this was Burnley's fault - I'd be ******* myself laughing if a Burnley player was sent off in similar circumstances. A goal down meant a very likely a repeat of Stoke - a routine 1-0 win for them. With 10 men, that was basically inevitable. Silva has ambitions of Europe but when you're bringing on players of the calibre of Holebas and Grey, you have next to no chance of making any impact whatsoever. The latter is starting to make Ellington look like decent value for money. Carillo was decent in the first hour. Gomes and Cleverley were also OK. Kabasele, probably our best player over the last month, couldn't deal with their combination of strength and ability to fall over at the slightest touch, and gave them needless fouls all game. Let's move on quickly as we have a couple of very winnable games coming up. I cannot wait until the 1st of January, when we can actually bring a remotely dangerous striker into the club.
Time for Silva to go. He's not won since Everton stopped fluttering their eyelashes at him. He's clearly lost the will. Performance today was below par. Rich needs a rest. Deeney needs putting in a fat camp. Gray needs putting to sleep. We have far too many players injured. What the hell is going on? The injury list is growing, not reducing. Gino needs to take a top down view of this as the fact this has persisted for more than a season now means its something that no responsible club owner should be anything but alarmed by. Too many injuries and recovery times are taking longer and longer. Something very serious is up. On the match - a forgettable day. Not a lot we can say as the ref defined the game on his own. Everyone else was simply a support actor. The Ref wanted the game to go a certain way and so it did. Nothing we could really do to change that, short of some heroics, which we're just not up to at the moment and certainly not vs. burnley who are smarter and tougher than us.
I’m conerned now Palarse are going to meet a Watford side feeling sorry and down. Not an easy stomping ground for us overall and they have belief they can get something no doubt. keeping 11 men on the pitch and not having a **** in charge would help. To be honest they did have the ball in the net twice more for offside but we really need to play better than this from now on. We seem to start games well but if we concede or don’t score first then we play too conservative or have nothing going forward which is a massive problem atm. yes decisions seem to always go against us and it’s really frustrating to lose that since overall we probably deserved a point. Silva needs to install Sone confidence in this team as the Xmas games come thick and fast. Overall bitterly disappointed by being kicked in the privates by the red AGAIN but we must beat palace now to claw back some space.
Bit of a rubbish performance today really. We probably looked the brighter of the two teams with 11 men but Burnley aren't exactly a bundle of attacking verve and energy at the best of times. The red card was the red card. up for debate but shouldn't have been terminal. The goal they scored though was just plain poor defending by us. Holebas was a straight swap for Zeegelaar so there's no reason at all for us to be out of shape or run ragged. Arfield had the freedom of the box to score the simplest of tap ins once Janmaat was dummied. I liked the effort in the second half but any threat we posed to them was from set pieces really. Carillo had a decent shout for a penalty but really it was one where only a replay made it clear so without VAR it's not surprise not to get it. It's funny how teams like Burnley get a reputation for being honest, hard-working, industrious etc. They cheat just as much as us. A couple of terrific dives from them brought by Proberk. And a lot of the fouls were won by their negative play rather than our players being particularly aggressive. Clever backing in, stopping while running at full pelt and the like. We fell for it nearly every time, that's the annoying bit. I thought Gomes was our MOTM. Two really excellent saves kept us in it. What's the criticism for Gray for today? Other than a ball over the top which he made an intelligent run for but was always likely to be second best to he never had a sniff. The other 4 or 5 balls played to him were about 8ft up. That's never his game. We'll lose on Tuesday.
After watching many replays I'd have to say it was a red. He went in to that tackle looking out of control and dangerous, and that's what the refs look for. Pen wasn't a pen, their disallowed goal was offside. Despite the ref looking sh*te he actually got the decisions right IMO. There was a point in the first half when I said to my mate "how can Burnley be 7th"? After that they showed why, pretty good team to be fair with some big injuries.
Decided to go Christmas shopping instead of watch a stream for this one. Thank god I did. Seems like Deeney just has to go now. Will he ever score from open play again? Slowly getting bored of Pereyra and his stop start career. Can’t comment on anything else without watching some highlights.
Just reading through the BBC live text from this afternoon, Kevin Kilbane says it wasn't a red but I've not seen it yet, however I'm guessing that is he went in with 2 feet it's probably not worth appealing. Looking ahead to Tuesday, it seems that Zaha did indeed dive today and will probably be banned.
Eh? He was subbed directly after the red card to allow Holebas to come on and shore up the defence in a tactical change. He wasn't injured.
The red was slightly soft but we'd expect it if it was the other way around. Penalty shout for Richarlison looked like it could be given but it was probably 50/50. The disappointment came with our reaction to the red. We threw the toys out of the pram and there was no leadership to regroup and make it til half time. To concede in that fashion with players like Doucoure not even bothering to try and assist his defence shows a distinct lack of character in the team. I then thought we got our tactics all wrong. Burnley are not a great side and we went long far too early. Deeney doesn't help matters of course as when he is in the team we seem to do this from minute one. We should have carried on with the ball on the floor before going long. Cleverley of old was back, playing those lofted balls round the corner from the kick-off. Also agree that Richarlison looks like he could do with a rest. Janmaat had a decent game as did Gomes - we need to drop Mariappa for Palace.
Better team until sending off, Deeney was getting very little and running a lost cause, Cleverly was very wasteful, Doucoure won't want to watch that again either. Gomes kept us in it. Credit to Dyche he's performing miracles with that lot. Probers made some horrendous mistakes today not just against us.
