He went because he was paid too much and Aidy wanted to free up the budget. I didn't agree at the time (and still think Bryn is a great player), but am big enough to say that Aidy is a better manager than me ;)

I agree, he was a fantastastic player, same as Helgi, we have been most fortunate with our Icelandic signings, safe to say we were fortunate enough to have signed 2 of the best 3 icelandics that any club signed... Shame we had to let him go.

As Scalexman said it was partly his wage and that Aidy had seen him very much similar to Mahon.
I think we miss him and would have preferred him to stay as I actually think Ray was the problem not Bryn and look how he played for Reading since. Aidy would have got more out of him for sure than Lewington ever would have done.
On the plus side Aidy also rated Bang and Tiggi highly and he loves Dom as a person who he thinks is a down to earth honest guy who does a lot of the dog work for little recognition.

Aidy is twice the manager Lewington was, in every way, he can spot potential and bring it out of the players, his man management skills are second to none in my book.
Given the money and the time i think we have in him a manager of SAF qualities that we could keep for many a year.

Not so sure we will keep him for many a year.

It must be hard living away from his Mrs and kids a lot of the time.

I asked him about that once and he said the main reason for not all moving down lock stock was that the children were settled at school, i just replied he had reverted to type (Yorkshire) and was put off by the House prices down here.

Would be a shame to lose him... i think he is the best manager we have had since GT.

    Don't disagree with that.

Yep, I would rate Aidy in the top 4 managers with Graham Taylor, Ken Furphy and Harry Kent (who I obviously don't remember).

I don't think you should be too hard on Ray. He guided the club through the hardest period the club has ever had, especially when you consider that we were in the 2nd Division (The Championship) and up against a number of rich clubs.

I agree that Aidy seems to get more from players, but that is down to his fantastic talent rather than Rays lack of it. Aidy is the right man for now, Lewington was the right man for then.

Let's face it, Lewington has been our 4th best manager in the last 40 years!

Apparently Brynjar is still technically a Watford player and has spent the last 11 years rehabilitating from muscle imbalance. Hope to see him back in the team soon, god knows we need him!

I’d forgotten all about Dom Blizzard. What a strange footballer he was, but weirdly effective for a short period of time. Anybody know where he is now?

Might be worth bumping a Dom Blizzard thread from 11 years ago to find out?
