It's so odd that so many fans want Pereyra dropped for this game. The objective of football is to score goals and he is scoring goals at the moment. He is pretty much the only player in our whole squad I would back in a 1 on 1 situation. Yes, he can improve in other areas but being in a little run of scoring form should not be overlooked for a team that scores as few as we do.

I'm also not against bringing Hughes in for Chalobah. I don't think Chalobah has been as imperious as others think he has been over the last few games and you're always using a substitute if you start him which could be used elsewhere. When Hughes was playing a deeper role we were in decent form.

Did think it wasn’t the sort of thing in tune with the rest of this forum!

anyway, lose or draw, I’ll be back to give an honest view of the game if anyone cares :)

Great away day, Brighton. A few years back we were in the pub beforehand having a few jars and were having such a terrific time we didn't bother getting up and going to the match. Why spoil a good time with football?

(We won 1-0 if I remember rightly).

He's decent in front of goal & should play ahead of Pussetto. Issue is he doesn't have any kind of work rate and goes missing in vital stages of the game. I think he'd be a decent impact player off the bench. If Sarr is fit then he must start ahead of RP.

I wouldn't say it is odd. Yes he scores a few goals and is technically good but too often he is not involved in games, we are clearly a better team when we are able to counter attack at pace and Maxi does not have the pace required for this, for me Pereyra is not a winger he is better as a number 10. It isn't like he is banging them in anyhow he has scored 3 goals in the league this season from the top of my head these games were Arsenal, Bournemouth, Everton.

I would rather Hughes starts I think Will was playing terrifically before his injury.

watford fans have always idolised players with no technical ability but who run around a lot, and clap them at the end.

It's just another item on the vast list of things that make us tinpot.

Hilarious. Such incisive use of the English language, delivered with acerbic wit.

Rather not risk Sarr for this. Make sure he is fully fit for the other matches and make the rest of the squad realize it is not a one man show.

Sussex By The Sea is a terrific old march but hopefully we can take three invaluable points tomorrow after throwing them away in the last three games. If we don't we are slowly edging closer to the trap door.

One of my favourite football songs - even better than Watford FC, Watford FC - but the traditional words about reaping and sowing are dire.

Do I watch this tomorrow, or go to a wine bar where they are selling their house red wine at £13 a litre? They do play smooth 80s jazz though, which although funny, is bad.

I think maybe when Chalobah Doucoure and Capoo were on the pitch at the same time no one was beating us. However I have a feeling Hughes will get the nod tomorrow if fully fit.

It's kind of pathetic how much being back in genuine trouble affects your overall mood. I had a general depressive ache hanging around in the back of my mind for most the week, and it was only when I really engaged in reflective zen self-assessment and some amateur mechanics that I realised it was the malaise of the mire that we've managed to put ourselves back in. Those halcyon days of multiple fist pumps post-match and non-embarrassment about being a public Watford fan seem a long time ago now.

Apparently we need to score at least four to guarantee a win against teams that agree to remove one of their players for a quarter of the game, so if, as we might expect given the circumstances, The Seagulls protest that idea and un-sportingly leave all players they are entitled to out on the pitch, I would suggest we may need to revise our projections to, perhaps, six?

Godspeed lads, and don't forget we'll need to make sure it's 4 by the half, as you never score as many in the second as the first!

I’m not usually one to be particularly impacted by the result on any given weekend. I enjoy it when we win, but I rarely have any issue putting a bad result behind me.

That’s not been the case since Everton. I’ve hardly been able to bring myself to check the forum this last week, or find any enthusiasm for football or any kind since last week.

It felt like a proper hammer blow. If we don’t pick up a positive result today, I don’t know how we come back from it. Given our current predicament, I’ll define a positive result as either a win, or rescuing a draw after going behind.

This is the lineup I would go for:
    formation_2_8_2020_ 11_55_18 AM.png
My bench would be : Gomes, Cathcart, Holebas, Cleverley, Hughes, Sarr (if he's unavailable then Penaranda) , Pussetto.
I wouldn't risk putting Sarr in the starting eleven for this game and if he's not even fit enough for the bench I would give Penaranda a chance. Pereyra keeps his place in the starting eleven for me, because he's world-class when not lazy. I also don't think he had such a bad game against Everton.
As for the result, I have a good feeling about this game and I think we'll win it (2-1, Deulofeu and Pereyra with the goals).

Well I’ve thank fully finished work in time to tune in and watch again from afar.

Important to get a result as a defeat going into this winter break will be hard to recover from, I think mentally for the team and to put that bit more pressure on the teams playing next weekend a win here’s a bigger 3 points than muff away.

I’d play the same team that started last week unless Sarr is fit. Gomes Cleverley Hughes peneranda Pussetto holebas Sarr/Pereyra on the bench

As for the mood I’ll be in if we lose I really don’t want to be there as I’ve been horrible to live with recently and my family needs a nice happy mr fox or I could end up getting booted out.

The Watford youth have arrived in Brighton, obviously pissed up on their train journey down and acting like a bunch of ****s. What an embarrassment.
