I agree. Not sure why some people think we have ready made replacements for Doucoure and are indifferent to Pozzo cashing in. We are really going to struggle next year if we fail to replace him and persist with this formation.
I agree Gray's movement is half decent, the forward with the best movement is Success but he tends to drift away from the goal rather than towards it.
Perhaps the best movement but almost completely lacking in ball control, finishing and, seemingly, balance.
True although he is not as bad as some make him out to be. All three of those attributes he can work on and he still does have time on his side.
Yes - he should be strong and powerful enough to hold onto the ball and hold off defenders rather than looking to fall over at the first sign of a touch as Derek Payne says. Probably would have been more useful than Gerry D or even Sema though! Mind you anyone would have been...
No, no and no, although Merson has probably said it, if you count the words being in a different order, with other words interspersed and not meaning it anyway. Shankly and Clough would have known it, but I've never seen them acknowledged as having said it.
I’d convinced myself it was Shankly, primarily by saying it in his accent. In my head, of course. I’m now saying it in a GT accent.
Whilst I agree with you, why should we take away those wins? Would you take away the wins if they were scattered through the season? It is doing a slight disservice to Gracia to dismiss them as we had a bright start last season. Not having a pop, I just think we should judge a season as a whole.
As a team I think we are a fraction over a point a match average. We've been consistently this since promotion. The vast majority of the season has seen us pick up 22 points from 21 games, which is pretty much the team we are. I think that paints are much more accurate picture. We've always started a season well, gaining a much larger percentage of points than at any other stage of a season. This is probably because players are injury free and fresh. I've always felt the nice weather has an impact as well. I think that helps this club a lot more than other teams, for some reason. I think it's fair to say we are a 1 point a match team, with the added boost of a good start to the season. Where you can see a big improvement is the goal difference. To be only -1 at this stage of the season, is a big step up for us. So that tells me we are competitive in a the vast majority of games. Only Bournemouth have managed to consistently breach our defence this season.
Maybe it's time you looked for a nice comfy job indoors. IBB. Prime Minister, perhaps? With your encyclopaedic knowledge of Yes Minister, you'd be head and shoulders above any other candidate.
Perfectly reasonable guesses. However, you must say it in French and don't think 'footballer'. I believe neither Shankly (I think) nor Taylor would have let it overly worry them as an approach though, would they?
Curiosity got the better of me. Would never have guessed the answer although, as an avid viewer of "The Good Place", maybe I should have. (an additional clue there; hope that's ok Forza)
I think, on balance, standing in the freezing cold watching yesterday's 0-0 was more fun than reading some of the hysterical post match comments from the usual miserable b@stards on this thread
Quite. I can't see Will Hughes or Britos shoved up front being any worse. Just ditch the lot of them and let the rest of the squad take turns up front
Imagine if we’d registerd a deserved loss! The comments would be doubly bad yet you would still have got to clap like a seal at the team at the end.
I think you need to look at where we are now. Are we a top 7 side just having dropped off and looking to push back up, or are we on the decline, after s flattering start, Those early wins all count, for league position, of course, but of assessing how good we actually are, don't deceive yourself. We're bang average with major, obvious flaws which continue to go unremedied
Nope. This is going wider than I anticipated. Although, as HH24 has suggested, it's (I think) just not someone you would expect.
As are everyone from 8th downwards. Our 3 best players are either out of form or injured yet we’re still picking up points.
Bingo! Jean-Paul Sartre was apparently a football fan. Who'd have thought? There is stuff on the internet connecting him with Stade St-Germain, but I'm not taking that bit seriously - if you read it you will see why. 5 points.
