Adrian Boothroyd will add to his Watford squad in January as he steels his players for a relegation battle. Since claiming promotion to the Premiership, Watford have mustered just one league win and are six points from safety. Boothroyd admits his target was more than just mere survival, but accepts the club are fighting for their top-flight future. He will try to strengthen his squad in the New Year, but is determined to pick up points before then, despite games against Liverpool and Arsenal in the next week. "Whenever you play matches, it's important you get points," Boothroyd told Sky Sports News. "We are under no illusions. We set our sights high here, but we now know that we are in a relegation battle. "When you are in a battle, you've got to have people willing to stand up and be counted, and people willing to fight. "We know we've got to make additions to the squad and we are going to do that. "As far as Christmas is concerned, where we are now it's about making sure we put some points on the board and we've got opportunities to do that in our next four games."
