It totally amazes me that people like this can call themselves a supporter of the "Club", the fact of the matter is Tommy Smith left under a bit of a cloud at the time but he had valid reasons as he saw them at the time and he was worthy of playing top flight football as his performances showed at the time, I for one, though dissappointed understood his reasons and though regretted we couldnt keep him wished him luck and wouldnt Boo him now for it, though might have at the time. Just edited your post to include the URL, so we can refer back to it one day soon. Much as I disagree with some stuff jobr posts over there I can see his point of view on the Tommy Smith subject. If, (and it's NEVER been proved), he did slag of the club then he needs to know we don't approve. However, all I've ever seen is quotes along the lines of "I'm joining a bigger club", (when he went to Sunderland), so I'm not convinced he ever said what it's claimed he did. Without proof then I welcome Tommy back and will cheer his name tomorrow along with the vast majority. If someone can prove he slagged us then I'll change my tune. Even Sunderland fans I've spoken too don't remember him giving us grief when he joined them.
To be honest the only place i ever saw any reference to the apparent slagging off he gave the club was on the official baords when he left the club, I never saw any reports in any official circles i.e the media (thats not to say there werent any) and i have always tended to treat alot of what is said on the clubs board with a pinch of salt. Its true he had some concerns over club affairs he made no secret of that but from my memory i understand that he left to further his career and because we couldnt offer him the wage that he felt he deserved at that time. I could be wrong in this and i will be the first to admit that if it is made evident that he did in fact slag us off... if he did i wouldnt like it one bit either, considering that i have loved watford FC since i was 6 years old and am now 40. I for one dont hold any malice toward the man and irrespective of that he is now a watford player again and we should all be behind him and not booing him, he wont be able to play to his full potential if he is harrased by his own teams fans and we need him to play at his best.
i think you will find that i am a supporter of the club and have been for over 30 years, so get off your high horse and @@@@ off, we are all entitled to our own opinions. The fact you closed your eyes to what Smith did and said, is your own business. next time you want to mouth off about me, grow some balls and do it in person. And to think people said these boards were different, yet the spineless / gutless minority clearly are still around.
To be fair the threads in this section always referred to the whole thread on the officials. I always asked people to cut and paste the first post in that thread and a link to it so we could get an idea before popping over to the officials and viewing it. Comments made were always referring to the whole thread, and only usually individually when the trolls were out, like Rookery_1982. I honestly don't think the comments made were directed personally at you, but all the posters who were saying they would boo him. Quite a few if I remember.
