They've no hope of getting 14 clubs to agree to that so it's basically a dead duck. I'm sympathetic to their point though as it's basically right.

Yep. I'd love to know what the viewing figures are for our matches abroad. Especially last seasons. I reckon some weeks they had a worldwide audience of zero (apart from the handful of nerds off here watching on their laptop).

They're right insofar as it's them that people abroad pay to see.

They're wrong in that the most attractive feature of our league is that there's real competition, and the makeweights don't curl up and die when playing the top two.

Apart from us losing 6-0 at home like one of Messi's La Liga punchbags.

  6. As occasional (ahem) streamers can't we all consider ourselves overseas viewers? In which case we don't log in to watch the big 6, so their whole argument falls over.

Have an issue with this when it comes to the likes of Chelsea and Man City. They have brought their success far mor than the others so who the hell are they? If I somehow became a billionaire and spent the next 5 years turning Watford into Paris St Germain can we get even more greedy? Incidentally, English clubs in Europe being ****, Leicester winning the league, a new Sky contract and only now are they kicking up a stink? It’s because we’re 6th isn’t it? It’s always us.

NBC sports has already set up a system here were only a few games arenshown for free (big teams) if you want to watch the rest you must buy their gold package. Watford have been on free tv once this year. Last season everything was free.

Spot on. The Premier League is doing so well precisely because the also-rans aren't absolutely dominated by the top teams every game. Stop spreading the TV money around and it'll morph into something akin to La Liga or the Scottish Premier league: dominated by a couple of teams. The appeal of that kind of league fades fast.

They need to do what F1 is trying to do in reducing budgets. Easiest way to arrange that is shift TV revenues to lower leagues or make teams spend it on academies.

The top six do receive more from Sky due to league places money, but this isn't enough they actually want some of the " Rent " money as well, would be fairer if the prize money and ALL payments were halved, then reduce wages and transfer fees, the excess can be filtered down through the leagues.

When I watch the goals programme for league one and two in many of the clips they show stands half or nearly empty, the lower league clubs need help to compete, the top 6 don't!

Top 6: "Show of hands. Who wants less money?"

    Everyone else: "..........."

The figures are ridiculous already. We (13 televised games) received £102.7m from TV last year, finishing one place above relegation.

Aston Villa (16 televised games) weren't so fortunate. They received £6.9m from TV. Yes, there's parachute payments of £40m for the first year but really teams need to be promoted first season back.

We will lose a big, big club very soon at this rate. Relegation is a death sentence with these figures. Share the wealth. Over half the national team comes from Football League academies.

There won't be because it would go completely wrong for all involved.

Fans outside of those clubs wouldn't pay/subscribe to anything. I watch other teams now because they are on the TV which is included in the package I have. A super league for sure would have its own separate channel which would cost an arm and a leg, which I wouldn't pay for. I doubt most others would pay for it as well.

I have zero interest in any other team outside of Watfor apart from Spurs because that's who my dad has supported his whole life and I always want to see them do well.

The Super league would have an international following for sure but unless you are a fan of Man Utd and co, no Englishman is tuning in and paying to watch them on TV which will cost extra.

If they do ever try, it will last a split second before they want to reverse everything. If they do, then any team that leaves to join the Super League, once it fails and they come back, they should be made to join the lowest pro league possible and work there way back up the leagues.

What I don't get is why Tottenham are part of the 'big 6'. I understand the global appeal of the other 5 and have seen it reflected in fans abroad.

Haven't remotely seen that in Tottenham.

I'm quite disappointed that Watford have apparently been 'tempted' by this proposal of an unequal share of revenue. I've often argued with friends that the members of the Premier League (and other top European leagues for that matter) do not understand the real meaning of the term 'League'. It should mean that the members work together for the benefit of all. In the US the sports organisations like the NFL and Major League Baseball work to try and ensure the competitiveness of the sport year on year. This manifests itself in things like centralised marketing of merchandise, equal TV revenues and the draft system which attempts to equalise the strength of playing squads so they don't get a 'big six'. Therefore the only competition between teams is literally on the pitch.
The problem with this model for our football is that the Americans effectively have a closed system within their country with no promotion and relegation, whereas our clubs are either in danger of losing their status or are competing with similar sized clubs in other countries. The result is that the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc, want to beat Barcelona etc to the signing of top players and the only way they think they can do this is to offer them more and more money, hence the demand for a bigger and bigger slice of the cake.
However, if the Premier League's attractiveness to international broadcasters is truly down to its depth of competitiveness then surely the American model would confirm its dominance over other leagues because it would be equally likely to be won by a Leicester, Burnley or Watford as a Man United. Then the top players would want to play here anyway because it would be the richest league.

If nothing else our stance can only be testament to Gino's ambition as I'm sure no "lower" PL team would touch it.

I don’t really get what the fuss is about.

The league quite rightly already rewards success through domestic takings. Why wouldn’t they also do it for international income?

Teams that finish higher should get a higher proportion of the overall takings. It makes every match matter and rewards success over failure.

Why should a team that has a poor season and finishes 17th get the same amount of money as one which has an excellent season and finishes 8th?

If we continue our fine start to the season, we could get an extra 5/ 10/ 15/ 20 million pounds more than lower midtable clubs that survive in the league (we could bring in more than clubs with higher gate receipts, prior sponsorships etc.) and that will make a huge difference to breaking down inequalities formed through outdated/historic reasons.

If you want to be able to out-compete clubs which have been in the league for years, then this is the right course of action.

I like the fact tact it's incremental, everything else they've suggested has always put the big six on a pedestal. The only thing I'd be wary of is of promoted clubs being advantaged but looking at past history I can't see that promotion prizes would be great enough to do that.

I think the one they discussed last week was the Scudamore compromise deal. I'm pretty sure the opening gambit from the Top 6 clubs was much more tilted in their favour with less link to actual performance.

There won't be any coming back. It will be a closed shop. As that celebrated statesman Berlusconi once put it, it makes no economic sense for A.C. Milan not to be competing at the highest level.

People who don't go to matches but like watching stars on TV will go for it, but there will be enough talent left over for a more competitive national Prem, real football for real fans.
