i think for me it has to be the nicky wright playoff final goal, due to its class and importance. but then agian im only young. what is yours?
recently it would have to be marlon's against west ham. for importance, jay demerit's versus leeds at cardiff
yeah but just generally the best goal u have ever seen. i admit the demerit goal was more important that wrights to me too, but wrights had more class.
The six greatest goals of recent time were the 3 against Palarse in the samis and the 3 gloriuos goals against dirty Leeds in the final. All are still a bur to me , all i can remeber was the jumping , screaming and the exhileration of knowing we were "back in the league where we belong"
you're gonna have to help me on this one. i can't remember his name 1)i think it was the year we last got promoted(whilst in div 1). 2)it was definatley versus bristol city. 3) i think his second name was johnston. 4) he caught it on the volley- it was a rocket! any ideas?
Quite like Cooks winner away to Millwall the other year - game of the 'pink shirted man'. Or Glass's winner against Burnley in FA Cup.
Ronny Ronny Ronnys at home to Blackpool, sublime chip over the keeper after a mazy dribble, must of been around '96?
Ronnie's goal against Blackpool was superb! I have a few: Taffy away at the sc*m Johno's brace at Bristol City Mooney's at home to Bristol Rovers Palmer's at home to PNE Gravelaine's at home to Saints (first one) Wooter at home to Norwich Mooney's lob at home to WBA Helguson's winner at Stoke (not pretty but vital)
not sure of best but 1 I will always remember was Paul Furlong where he brought the ball down on his chest and knee only about 2 yards from goal but in a crowded box before banging it in. He was so obviously better than everyone else at that moment. It was at the Vic Rd end.
1. Allan Smart Play-Off Final 1999, because of the importance of it (and Nicky Wrights is a blur in my mind!!!) 2. Jonno V. Man Utd at Old Trafford last time we were in the Prem, I was sat in the Man U end and started cheering and nearly got started on by some skin head manc... So many goals, not enought time... :-(
1 John Barnes v Brum away(i think..was sooo long ago)...Long boot from Sherwood, barnesy took it down beat 2 players and curled it (banana style) in the top right corner. It also got goal of the season in 84 2 Nicky wrights overhead at Wembley v Bolton 99
Number One: Nick Wrights Goal at Wembley, thanks to Youtube I can now watch it over and over… Number Two: Richard Johnson against Wolves 94/95 Number Three: Marlon King against Cardiff last season (away), really got the ball rolling
I was there. 1/4 final of the FA cup I think. Right in front of where the Watford were standing. I remember the Brum mamager saying it was a fluke because the ball bobbled before he hit it.
Keeper was badly positioned at the time, any other keeper would of had that easily! Ashley's goal against Zaragoza King's against Norwich home Hendo's against the scum Young's against coventry away??? (i think) Jay jay from the usa at cardiff Young's v palarse HH's against gillngham a couple seasons back and against chelski! and stoke Mooney had a few chopra's scored a few good'uns too (not neccessarily the best goals but most important and stick in my memory) and many many many more
Barry Endean, Leicester, 1970, 1-0 down 5 mins to go. Pen from Eddy, 1-1. last minute through ball, 2-1. I was 15, we all went mental.
With the game against Sheff Utd under the lights coming up, Gavin Mahon's goal against Derby (when Simpson came to sit in the rookery) was fantastic. Gavin Mahon passed it back to Doyley (i think) then ran past Heidar, Doyley chipped it up to Heidar, who flicked it on to Gav, who controlled it on his chest then fired it across the goalkeeper into the far bottom corner. Fantastic because we were all so pumped up at the time, and it made Gavin Mahon look like he played for Brazil!
cant remember the game but Nordin Wooter's slinky in to the oppo's half then a stike into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box!!!! about the only good thing he did though
johnson at Carlisle 97, good 1 at gillinham the same sesion to but my favorite goals have to be kennadys at luton in 97/98 i think it was 2 in the space of a few minites
oh yeah that wooter goal was sheer class, about the only thing he done but anyhow a superb run and finish.
John Barnes goal against Birmingham in Fa Cup 1984, superb class! Made those two Brum players look like tailors dummies before bending that sweet dipping shot with the outside of his boot over Cotons head! Les Taylor goal, same game, 35 yard screamer! Sweet shot! And the fact that it was a rare Les Taylor goal made it even more special!
