Imagine if you could be him for a day though.

I'd just spend it in front of a mirror stroking my beautiful *****.

Capoue, Hughes, Cleverley, they can all play in that position of needed can't they? He's a solid but unspectacular pro, if we end up in a position where he needs to start with any sort of regularly then we're in big big trouble. As has been mentioned already despite what could only be described as an injury crisis last year, he still hardly played and this year we've significantly strengthend our midfield. Keeping him is like having a spring clean and clear out, but deciding to keep the three old batteries and €2.73 in coins from your last years holiday that you found at the bottom of your kitchen draw 'just in case you need them'

After that game (4-3 vs Bolton) I wanted his babies. In a brotherly way obviously

No none of them can. All 3 are attacking minded midfielders

He had the highest rates of pass success, tackles won and one of the highest of interceptions under QSF. Walter didn't fancy him because he didn't run enough Kilometres per game ( v Capoue ), plus he had various non football related matters that meant he wasn't available last year.

Have to Disagree, Doucoure is just as attack minded as Capoue and I think you will find that against Liverpool he spent quite a lot of the game up the field.

Capoue gets a lot of stick on here but is still one of our best players on his day, and I think that under Silva he is more likely to have his day then he was under Twatzarri.

Cleverley is also very disciplined as we saw against Liverpool, he played in the 10 but spent a lot of time tracking back, he easily has what it takes to fill in here.

Hughes however I do agree, too small, too weak and definitely too attack minded, we will not see him in the holding position.

b-b-b-but watson runs around a lot and tries dead hard, so he must be worth keeping!

I largely agree with your assessment. Doucoure just as attacking as Capoue. I see Silva rotating these two occasionally. The former has the superior 'engine' and think it will be better for Capoue as well as always have had doubts about his stamina. Cleverley is our midfield destroyer and hod-carrier - like Hogg, Eustace, Behrami and Watson - an unglamorous role but absolutely essential in most teams. You are right about Hughes. He is the most lightweight but can cover the most attacking advanced midfield/ number 10 role if Zarate/ Pereyra not available. All these players can score, are great dribblers and crucially can thread a pass through to the strikers. Finally, Chalobah is our playmaker and more than just a holding midfielder, occasionally getting into advanced positions to score. The best thing of all is that Doucoure and Chalobah have very quickly formed a great flexible partnership where they seem to be on the same wavelength covering for each other. I just luv how are midfield is developing at present.

Happy bunny and Goldenorn like this.
