[NOT HAPPENING] Ben Gibson

Burnley have rejected a second bid from Watford for Gibson (SSN). So that's all folks. No incoming transfer business today.

 

That was at 11.06 per the date stamp. There's stiltons of time.

 

Hopefully Gibson will now kick up a fuss, hand in a transfer request and make the journey down here.

 

Excellent stuff from the club and the recruitment team.

 

I feel like this news is pretty much the end of our season.

Gibson would have changed everything.

“Ben Gibson is frustrated with a lack of game-time but the only way Burnley will do business today is if they can get in a replacement. But it appears at the moment, Gibson will remain a Burnley player. A loan deal has been rejected from Watford with Burnley saying it fell well below their valuation.”

Gibson update online when our website updates, but with just under five hours before the transfer window closes, Watford pursuit of the 27-year-old remains the only live deal at Turf Moor, in or out - ball in Hornets' court

 

As I thought would be the case, the sticking point seems to be Burnley wanting a guarantee we sign him, either now or at the end of the loan. For me, I'd just walk away from this, as clearly Burnley do not rate him at all and are worried once we get him on loan we'd not be interested either and the secret is out. Right from the start there were too many red flags so hopefully time will run out on this one and we don't get stitched up by Burnley again.

GIBSON WATFORD UPDATE

Burnley and Watford remain 'poles apart' on a potential loan deal to bring Ben Gibson to Vicarage Road, with four and a half hours left of the January Transfer Window.

 

I'm conflicted, but ultimately we should have been aiming for better and I'm certain if we do sign him, that's our defensive improvements for the next 5 windows.

The club have learned nothing from their experience of making Dawson their only signing in the summer and are once again trying to buy a makeshift defender who may or may not be OK.
