I think this is a possibility. Man Utd take Ashley as a swap deal for Ben and throw in Alan Smith or some other or pay £2-3 million as well. If Ash is rated as such a great prospect and now PLAYED for under 21's and held his own in the premiership any thing less than 5 million valuation would be an injustice. Manure pay Stoke 3 million with all the add ons if Ben plays for England - so us geting Ben and £2 million for Ash could be deemed to be fair. I know Ben is loved by nearly if not all WFC fans and I would think that they would love to have him as our full time keeper and be our player. Would you then accept the above deal as a fan or would you rather keep Ash? Fair shout but I think it may be more like a straight swap with a loan of Smith or Rossi till the end of the season as a sweetner. SAF knows that we are pretty desperate abnd I would rate Ben at £3M
SAF won't sell the next potential long term England keeper. If by some form of breakdown the deal was a goer I would swap Ashley for Ben plus £2million cash or a n other to the value.
He can't, RICHARD LEE is our player I suppose it all depends on what the top managers think of Ashleys potential; can play on the wing can score goals can take free kicks can take corners ( sort off) can beat a player or two on a run Still young age and playing for England under 21's Ash has just as much going for him if not more than Ben.
I think Ashley is more likely to join arsenal though. Lee is a good keeper and he would be an even better one if he could work on his kicking.
GG - Richy's kicking has improved 100 fold this season - however whther it is ben or rich kicking out to the wings - macca, hammer and ash are moe than likely not going to win a header. we need to throw or roll the ball out = part of our failings is not keeping the ball long enough. Darius is getting slated by fans -but so much of the balls to him are indeed balls.
It has improved a bit, though his kicking was off against sheffield. I only think our long ball style works if we have King because Henderson literally wins nothing in the air or if he does there is no one to flick it to. Now because he's not here we simply cannot keep the ball.
This style of football requires someone to play off Henderson, as King did brilliantly last season. This season Darius is trying but we can't link anything together.
GG and Evasive - agree, Darius is unlucky this season as he has to do it all alone and it is unfair to be critical when it doesn't work. He gets no real support but then gets blamed for things not working. We need DH in the box and we need our wingers to get good crosses into the box that he can head in etc. Which means we need someone to control midfield from an attacking perspective - which is what I thought damien Fancis was brought in for, but again hasn't really shown the quality required yet. We really miss Marlon in the team. We therefore need a player who can control the ball, hold it up and pass out to the wings - HH used to be able to do this pretty well IMO.
i agree with that. surely ashley is worth more than than ben. i doubt man utd would swap that + do u really think we should swap ashley for ben and pay 2/3 million.i would have thought it be the other way around. maybe they pay us a million or give us smith or rossi on loan until end of season.
I can't see Man Utd letting go of Ben at all. Unless they feel Van Der Saar and possibly Howard are good enough players for their long-term, I don't think SAF would have bought Foster on impulse, he must have a long-term plan for him, I wouldn't accept those terms to deal anyway, we need Ash
