That aged well.
Sacked 6 months later...
"Debt - the club has no debt. If things went west tomorrow, the club is in no jeopardy. Scott’s words"
Don’t things go south?
Indeed-i thought he might have said East (to Udinese) !
CRO now says Scott is a director of Hornets Investment Ltd wef a week ago so now he knows the full picture of the debt they have which has been on lent to the club.
Couldn't buy Capoue into Valencia though could he
Mr. Duxberry, your leadership of the club seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train.
Why are you so successful?
Runaway as in "out of control".
This is on tonight at 7pm on the clubs YouTube channel...
I sadly have plans with the other half tonight - is anyone able to document the questions and answers on here for those who can’t watch it?
Hopefully they can record it and keep on the site if it’s not too secretive!
I won't. I don't believe a word that they say so why would I listen?
They've lined up some Junior Hornets apparently to ask the really tough questions apparently.
Surely there's no chance they allow any actual questions about the mismanagement from last season? Some insight into the process behind the timing of Pearson's sacking, for example. The lack of decent recruitment in January, given our situation. Had they given up on staying up, and didn't want to add excessively to our wage bill?
I'd guess they'll use tonight to maybe give a small insight into the reality of our financial situation, and dispel a few myths and misconceptions.
It's going to turn out that over £10m of the 'other expenses' in the accounts has been spent on private investigators trying to identify and hunt down the forum bed wetters.
Just for fun .... someone should say ..... "I take it the new stadium plans in Bushy are on ice?"
Do you mean ready for if and when we play Palace and Zaha again?!
You appear to the outside world to be a COG. However, we do not know what the day-to-day at the club is actually like, and you may therefore secretly be a Bedwetter.
Could you please clear up this issue once and for all?
I think it's actually a fair question to ask whether the club are still planning to move to a new stadium.
It's obvious it wont be right now, but has the relegation and Covid put an end to it, even if we gain promotion this season?
As far as I'm aware, no one from the club has ever gone on record about it.
You should. I fully believe that Gino and the team will have no prior knowledge or visibility of any of the questions being asked tonight.
I only once went to a fans' forum, that was when Boothroyd was in charge. From what I gather any decent questions are drowned out by the full strip w*****r types asking pointless questions just to be seen to be there.
I guarantee someone will say something like: "Thanks for the last 5 years in the Premier League, it's a shame about relegation. Do you think we will go up again?"
Would be good to hear whether they, if they could go back in time, would still sack Pearson.
And why they'd bring back the most technically inept manager in our lifetime, who nearly got us relegated the first time around, and only didn't because Ighalo was on stupidly good form.
Oh and why they thought we had enough firepower last season?
Actually, it might be simpler to ask... So, last season?
I genuinely would have loved to ask:
'Last time we held him this event was in February 2019. You were asked about CB recruitment and the fact another window had just passed where you failed to add a quality CB. You recognised then that the need for defensive quality was pressing. Another 18 months passed and we were relegated after only adding Craig Dawson, who has now been loaned out of the club. Why were the club so reluctant to address this issue until it costs us a place in the PL?'
Sadly the fact this is being done online means the club will pick and choose the questions and have a limit of control over matters. And sadly a lot of fans will ask questions that they know won't get a straight answer but will ask it anyway. Questions regarding Pearson's sacking etc...while it would be nice for the club to be open about it, it's a waste of a question because you guarantee they won't divulge info.
Questions really need top be constructed well and in a manner that means they cannot fail to give an informative answer.
Quite harsh. Finished 13th with QSF and never went lower than 15th, even with our yearly post-xmas slump. Totally agree it made very little sense to bring him back though.
I also hope someone asks about Filippo Giraldi's current status, what his role was last season and if the club accept his involvement so close to first team matters was problematic.
Thanks for the great question Burnsy. I assume by 'CB' you mean cheeseburger? If so, we've been working hard on our hospitality range and I'm pleased to confirm tonight the new grill restaurant will be open as soon as we can let fans in. And yes, it's true Craig Dawson liked a quality CB, just like our talismanic captain. Top question. Thank you.
His tactic was all out defence, and then to bring Anya on at the 60 minute mark. It worked because Ighalo was on absolute fire and everything he touched turned to gold. If Ighalo started that season playing the way he spent most of his career, we'd have been relegated. Once he reverted to the mean, we faded into relegation level form but luckily Ighalo had already done enough to overcome the type of manager who plays 5 at the back when we're losing.
It was incredibly predictable therefore that getting QSF back, without this striker on ridiculous form, would be a train wreck.
I'd have chosen Walt over him in a second. I'd even have Beppe back over him. Neither would have done worse with the (albeit limited) squad they had at their disposal.
I'll try and do that.
Out of curiosity, is there anything positive in your eyes about the Pozzos? I'm not the greatest fan of them but they've done (and are doing) both positive and negative things
I think they are liars who hold Watford fans in contempt and who do not place the welfare of our club and our team at the top of their priorities.
Of course they've done stuff which has been to our benefit but overall I think they are scum.
Don't underestimate the value of Prodl and Britos both being in their prime.
See I look at a word like that and think that's over-the-top (or at the very least purposefully evocative). I partly agree with you- the club is more likely seen as a cog in their scouting network machine (I'll with-hold opinion on whether this network is good or not, it's irrelevant to my point). I also had a little discussion with some Italian non-Udinese fans who see Udinese as exactly this and a nothing club. They've been very poor with the team and recruitment for it.
However, I don't think they've neglected the welfare of the club given their actions and I think it's excessive to say they hold us in contempt. They've lied about things, no doubt about that.
I'm just a showing Pashun
Pashtun? We need one of them in the club
The GT statue, community work, renaming of stands, AYP (however shambolic they may have been, they're not commonplace), and the work with the NHS just doesn't correlate with the view of Pozzo treating the club with contempt, and as some sort of cash cow. A very good owner overall, with several flaws.
It's provocative. It gets people going.
Will try note down what I can for those who can't make it! Between us it should all be covered.
It's a shame we don't ball so hard
