Arsenal fan overheard in pub

I heard an Arsenal fan saying words to this effect tonight...

I was tempted to put my two pennies worth in, but I didn't. He put it very nicely.

if even opposition fans are talking this way about us says alot about some of our great fans who have already consigned us to relegation

 

Well that is good to hear, but for every one of those, there are 9 who think the opposite.

 

the 9 are ones who go on what the media say and assume long ball = boring and going dwon.

 

Otherwise known as opposition fans that don't go to the matches...but think they know everything about football

 

WP - its easy for other teams fans to say that - we have been brilliant this year - but quite simply we have an understrength squad, we have 11 points containing one win. Opposition fans do get the wrong impressions if they don't watch their team against us. Apart from Chelsea away and sheff utd hme we have played well, Arsenal away we got a bit of a mauling, but in itself we still played well and created chances. A chelsea fan who's an aquaintance of mine is so patronising about us not going down, it is annoying. You quoted "says alot about some of our great fans who have already consigned us to relegation" - I think that is out of order - the great fans still go week in week out and will what ever division we are in.

Being a decent team, is not being a GOOD team. I would love to stay up, but as much as I was often criticised for telling everyone every week we were going up last season ( that started on the pre season tour and I was riduculed) - this seasons start means statistically we are going down and a bigger miracle than last seasons promotion or the prior years survival is requird and I would suggest that our luck is balncing out. .

There is always a glimmer of hope as that is what fuels the passsion at the games to cheer the team on to victory, but i have resigned this season as one of relegation. I do not see that as a bad thing. A bonus season in the premeirship before our 5 year plan is complete. A great learning experience for all concerned at the club.

I have seen many a wfc relegation season and have been so pee'd off by them, this one is not relevant and does not make me angry or annoyed.

had that on hols in germany - guy at bar saw my wfc badge and sarted on about how ab is the same as gt and how he doesn't watch football anymore as our 'style'' is ruining the game - just let him rant then had another beer.

i was never saying that we are goin to stay up. or even frankly that we deserve to(tho i think we do) luck has not gone our way this year its true and as new year rolls around were sitting bottom of the table. we have played well and if a few decisions had gone our way maybe we wudnt even be having this conversation but i wasn't making a point about any of these things.

i was talking about the fans who come on here and go well were goin down b***h about the players and the management and the chairman its those type of people i was talking about not the fans who myself being one believe we've come up too early that we wont stay up and that we shud just enjoy the season those fans are still hoping to be proved wrong they are still staying positive and enjoying the time we have got in this league that is what i meant.

thing is we will not stay up because of our performnaces what will kep us up is points on the board. i would rather us play bad against arsenal but play good against wigan and fulham and pick up 6 points rather than playing good against arsenal getting nothing then playing poor against wigan and fulham and leave thexmas period with 0 points gained

 

You just hope adam, that good performances can be carried forward.
