Squibba had had a long evening delivering to the village, he was worn out. His last trip of the night was from the village kebab shop, Abrakebabra, but the order was odd, just 1 extra large pitta bread out to that old house on the edge of the village. Squibba took the 10 minute bike ride, leant his bike against the wall of the house and knocked. “It’s open” shouted the customer, so Squibba walked in.
Waiting for him, claws ready, was the Beta Wolf. A slice here, a slice there and the pitta was quickly full. A slice to the neck while Squibbas heart still beat provided the sauce. Squibba never had a chance.

    Squibba was good

Steve Leo Beleck got a call for some sprint training up at the old track near the forest. He arrived in plenty of time and had a few warm up laps. As the hirer walked towards him Steve became concerned. Not only did he not have any running gear on but he was very hairy. Too hairy in fact. The Alpha Wolf stopped 50 meters away and said “if you beat me to the woods you live, now run”. Now Steve was fast and could do the 200 meters to the woods in less than 25 seconds, but the Wolf did it in half that. Steve was sliced in half as he sprinted and the Alpha took his time feeding on the warm body.

    Steve Leo Beleck was good

I'm in and out of meetings all morning so Seer and Alpha please don't be concerned if I don't get back to you right away. Views and anonymous messages will be up as soon as is possible.

    Morning all.

F's in the chat for SLB and Squibba.

So we are down to 9 good and 3 evil?

  4. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

Well, the wolves have done us a favour to some extent - getting rid of two of yesterday's suspects (admittedly SLB was mostly only suspected by me as part of my tree shaking) but I am sure if Squibba was still alive, we were at risk of wasting today going after him as a village.

Lots of good characters dead now so we need an evil kill tonight or we're needing snookers. Need the Seer to step up now.

    In reality, timestamps are easy
Do no riddles or clues with me
Only had you listened to me daily
My village would be wolf free

My eye tells me the good are Ross and H
Obvious wolves are tricky and feeble
Go ahead villagers and hear the news
Oh no! Cassetti's Beard is evil!

    Cheers

Well that's a lie, I'm team good - hopefully the Seer can back this up later today if they view me.

Also, if we had listened daily how would the village be wolf free? Has the Seer ever viewed someone and called them out as evil yet?

  8. wfcmoog

Why would the seer choose CB to view? Any reason that he would be the first to fall under suspicion out of all the people on the unknown list?

    Can't see the logic myself

I was just about to post this, the poetic seer messages have so far only named people as good until today.

    Poetic message comparison:

    Day 1:
    Anonymous Message. Received at 12.30.

    Good afternoon kind villagers
I’d view you all if I could
But I looked at the varying in size man
And saw that he was good

    Beware the impatient wolf
    They messaged earlier you see
With the right choices made today
A successful lynching there might be

    All the best

    Day 2:
    Anonymous Message: Received 9.15

See the villagers all so humble
    Enrich your hearts, be free
    RIP to our friend Nisman
    Gruesome ever so the deed

    Maintaining Ross so good
The battle must be brought forth
Empowered with another good view today
    Oh my! It’s Horace_goes_up_north!

    Thanks for your time

Not only that, we DID listen to the poetic seer. It has named 2 people as good who we haven't lynched!

Morning all, RIP Squibba and SLB.

Nice early message but we need the second message for some clarity.

My gut instinct when only reading their 3 messages is that it isn't the seer.

But, the other messages named nisman as evil on Day 1 and we know he wasn't evil, nor was he the joker. He could have been a traitor as discussed but it would be very unlucky for us if he was.

Morning all. Unfortunately, it's been a bit of a bloodbath so far.

I do think we have an experienced Alpha and an inexperienced Beta.

The Alpha has given very little away so far and is playing the game well.
The Beta messed up by going for a suspected player (Squibba), which makes our lives a bit less confusing today.

We also know the Beta went for the Alpha on day 1, suggesting the Alpha was more likely to be active and "Good" seeming.

If CB does turn out to be evil, I'll be even more suspicious of Moog than I already am.

Actually, I realise it’s probably more sensible to wait for the second message before pointing fingers.

Morning all. First of all, thank you to the Beta Wolf for doing us a favour. I agree with moog that, otherwise, we would have wasted a day with Squibba under the microscope.
Need to wait for the second message but the message we’ve received today makes little sense - how would we have rid the village of wolves if we’d listened to the previous messages? We lynched the only player named evil in a message - and they were good. And this Wolf/Seer is claiming their previous views were two good players. Also, why view Cassetti’s Beard? There are a couple of players on my radar (not saying at the moment who, especially as we have no Guardian), but Cassetti wasn’t one of them. As far as I’m aware, he hasn’t come under much suspicion generally so why would the Seer view him? As I say, let’s wait for the second message, but this one doesn’t sit right with me.

Oh, and RIP Squibba and SLB

I'm really trying to avoid doing too much work today so please let's have an active day in the village.

Hmmm overall a pretty bad night for us. Two more good players down and we haven’t even managed to land a blow on team evil.

    Interesting view of CB though.

Another 2 good gone which isn't ideal but the Squibba one is a surprise. Shame for him but it could have been worse. Who did Squibba point the ginger at perhaps?

We have been a bit unlucky as much as anything. Contrast this to the last game where team good had some real fortune.

As always need that second message.

Squibba is going to be really cross to discover he's been killed, when he wakes up at about 3.30 this afternoon.

    Friends

We have had a bad run of luck so far and our luck has not changed with today’s viewing .

I viewed Moog and he is Good .

In retrospect I should have viewed Cassettis Beard in an attempt to disprove the wolf’s post this morning, (although he still may prove to be incorrect as he may not know for sure who is fellow Evils are.)

Let me explain why I chose Moog .

1- He has been arguing very strongly that Nisman was not the tinker and that Day 1 Message 1 was the wolf. As the Seer I know that he is incorrect here. Nisman was the Tinker.
2- My suspicions were further aroused when yesterday at 4.56pm Opti posted "Moog who are you voting for chief "
    a) Ive never heard Opti use vernacular like 'chief '. Seemed out of character.
    b) He didnt ask anyone else who they were voting for, just Moog, despite no previous direct communication between each other.
    c) We know from Day 2 that the beta knows who the alpha is, and so Opti calling Moog 'chief' sounded to me like it was the beta informing the alpha who he was.

Ok, so I was wrong, but in the face of little evidence and a lot of confusion, I made a mistake.

I will now explain my cryptic message from Day 1 which will not only confirm who is posting which messages but that I am indeed the Seer.

The "If numbers are letters and letters are numbers" clue is based upon theory that each letter of the alphabet is numbered numerically in relation to its position ie A=1, B=2,C= 3 etc.
If you look at my first message, the 19th letter is S, and S is the 19th letter in the alphabet.
S stands for Seer of course.
Difficult to guess in one clue I know, but the idea was to reveal more clues as game went on. The next clue was to be 'the truth lies just before the first brief '.
If you look at my first message you see the 19th letter S was just before the first brief or comma.
These are standard cryptic crossword techniques that I though some may pick up on.

However , due to the strength of voices complaining about the lack of clarity I changed my approach. Again this shows that I am indeed the Seer, as I am responding to what my fellow villagers want.

The Seers primary purpose is surely to be clear as to who he has viewed. Remember, the Wolf in Day 1 was not clear about who he viewed. What reason would he choose to be ambigious other than to try and replicate my style.

Hopefully we can have a good day and tomorrow I can pick an Evil in my viewing.

    Your servant and friend, Seer.

PS - I will no longer post at 11.009 as I think it is now pretty clear who is posting which messages

    nornironhorn Administrator Staff Member

A point of note (having played Seer in the last game), 'cryptic clues' like the ones mentioned above are only useful when the wolf is trying to mimic the seer's style.

So, putting S as a clue that the message is from the seer would be just as easy for the wolf to do.

In my opinion, we can pretty much ignore the 'clues' in the above as they would only be useful in matching messages each day (which we can easily do at this point anyway).

In addition, surely the seer could still keep in the 19th letter being S clue and make their clues much less cryptic? And if the wolf begins to mimic the seer's style then we would have had a genuine clue within the messages remaining..

  35. Morning all. **** for team good but I would totally have gone for squibba today so the wolf saved me that!

I also got a bit worried Moog was swaying us from voting Squibba as a possible traitor but the fact squibba was good rules that theory out too.
