I actually felt bad for Klitchko when that uppercut connected. I was cheering for our boy, but there was something a little sad, for a moment, to see one of the sports' greatest ever heavyweights and one of the few in recent years who was an ambassador for the game, completely crumpled, but AJ is a worthy successor.

I'd rather Klitchko faced Fury and completely bossed him ending Fury and showing the previous win up for what it was. I don't believe AJ has anything to prove or gain with Fury and should be looking at Wilder.

Looking closer you can see that Troy has a tattoo tribute to the beautiful and talented Mylene Klass on his hand.

Not a big boxing fan but watched this last night.

What a fight. Thought Klitschko had him at one point. Joshua done extremely well to get over the line; a true freak of nature. I can see him dominating for a long time to come now.

Incredible fight. Full credit to both of them. AJ showed what a class act his is and is going to be for years to come.

I didn't see the punch that Klitchko caught AJ with in the 5th, after he had been felled himself. It shows what a great champion Klitchko is, to be knocked down, get up have his opponent more or less out on his feet and then to knock him down again in the 6th. That straight right of his is lethal.

I hope Klitchko gets one more good win and then calls it a day. A great champion and it would be a shame for him to finish on a defeat.

When Joshua went down I thought it was game over, then he got up on those wobbly Frank Bruno legs and I knew it was over. Why didn't Klitchko finish him, he was completely out on his feet? Whatever the reason, (and I fully admit to knowing jack sh*t about boxing), AJ's comeback was a class act. Where I was watching it, when that uppercut happened the atmosphere was 2nd only to the Leicester moment. Beautiful.

Amazing fight and Without doubt one of the best sporting events I’ve seen for a long time. So often these big hyped events don’t live up to expectation but that was the perfect fight, ups and downs, went one way then the other and ultimately a changing of the guard.

Klitchklo is a complete machine and a warrior, how he kept getting up I have no idea and that right he put Joshua down with would have ended most you feel. The utmost respect for him and although he could probably beat most of the heavyweights around still I do hope he calls it a day there rather than fighting on. He’s nothing else to prove (apart from maybe to himself) and to end on one of the fights of the decade in front of 90k at Wembley isn’t a bad way to bow out despite the result.
I think if they met again Joshua would finish it a lot more clinically.

As for Joshua, his technique is far from perfect and he gets hit too much but boy that makes for an exciting and nerve wrecking watch. His heart and desire to win this was so impressive, he was out on his feet after knocking Klitchko down and for the following few rounds after he was put down. He managed to keep himself out of trouble and ultimately do the business which was fantastic in a fight which didn’t deserve to go to Judges scorecard controversy.

Next for AJ I’d either like to see a Whyte rematch or a Wilder/Ortiz type fight. I think Parker is probably more dangerous than Wilder at this point in time and Fury as big a fight as that would be is some way off fighting so you can’t factor him in yet though I wouldn’t be surprised if we are back at Wembley for that in the next 2 years.

Overall a great night which was very much needed for boxing, everything from the respectful build up to the fight itself and the way in which both competitors handled themselves after.

Boxing wins and hopefully we see more events like this soon oh and Eddie Hearn wins, his bank account really wins!
