What’s his wage for 6 months? Probably £2m. I’d reckon it’s doable for a Championship club going full tilt for promotion.
They're doing that new age thing where you manifest something positive into being by talking it into existence
Just as Amrabat was an integral part of Silva's squad for 2018-19 (which he stated a couple of days after Gino had loaned Nordin out for the season).
TBH I don't think Pearson is going to say "yes, he's a goner" As we have already seen the bloke doesn't give much away or give the media cheap quotes to add to speculation.
That's one goal scored in January for Dirty Leeds. Just waiting for them to buckle under the strain before offering mega money for our own goal scoring machine Andre Gray.
Phil Hay (The Athletic) when asked about any Leeds approach for Andre: There’s been contact there. Watford said no initially but there’s more willingness to deal there now.
Looks like this is gonna happen. It's a no brainer for Leeds - less than 4m (inc wages) for the whole loan deal plus an option to buy. 4m is nothing when they are so near yet so far from promotion. Gray has one of the best all time Champo strike rates.
Sir Nige II did say he deserved more game time, just not for us apparently! Good luck Andre, I wish you all the best at Leeds and hope you are happy there for several years.
I know people are whooping over this, but I'd be a bit surprised if he goes and we don't bring in a replacement. I know he's a dud technically in the Premier League, but he does have the happy knack of shinning/slicing in goals or his mess-ups lead to goals. If he goes without replacement, that reduces our options from the bench, and he has proved he can be useful when coming on late in games. Ok, he's not going to play out wide for us, but he's probably the next choice behind Deeney. Of course Welbeck would be if he remained fit, but you cannot rely on his fitness. In our position we need all the bodies we can get. It would be much better to move him on (or not) in the summer, once we know which league we're actually going to be playing in. As I've said many times in the past, if we do go down, he'd be an excellent player for us. It's short sighted to bin him off now.
Perhaps Dalby is ready, or Pedro looks decent, or we have a loan or buy transfer target of our own in mind? I mean give me a loaned Giroud type player over Gray all day long.
He cannot get a game for a lowly Belgian team. Indeed, from asking someone I know who is employed in the clubs offices, he keeps leaving Belgium and ‘hiding’ out in Madrid. There is no way he is even ready to be considered for our squad. If Gray is being allowed to go, I can only assume it is because the club has (misguided) faith that Welbeck will stay fit. Otherwise, they must bring in a replacement before he’s allowed to go.
As low an opinion of Gray I have as a footballer, I am inclined to agree with all this. I certainly do not have the blind faith to place in Pedro or the slightly laughable prospect of one of our youth players like Dalby filling the (still far smaller than it should be) gap.
Greatest day in our modern history if this is to be confirmed, the end to a dark chapter in the history of Watford FC, please please please let it be true. If confirmed I'll be throwing an Andre Gray leaving party.
Wow the Northern monkeys are getting very excited about the prospect of having Gray shoot them to promotion. I'm already feeling sorry for them. Not.
Most recent links I seen for him (AP) was Corinthians in Brazil. Clearly not seen as ready for our first team.
