The club have announced on Twitter that Mullins is in charge on Wednesday. Which hopefully suggests they are negotiating for someone better than the names SSN are suggesting. Or someone who can’t just simply jump on a plane and move to England in hours.

 

It's probably for the best that a new manager's first game isn't leicester away, given the season they're having.

It was catastrophic having QSF face man city away so soon. Surprised our genius owners didnt realise a frightful beating early on would derail his return. It's almost as if they are making it all up as they go along.

 

After Leicester, it's Palace at home, Liverpool away, United at home, Sheff UTD away, Villa at home, followed by Wolves, Bournemouth, Spurs, Villa, Everton, Brighton.

That's not a bad run of games to come into if you're a new manager (Liverpool aside obviously).

I think Watford take a strange pride in the speed in which they appoint a new coach. It's like an advert to say, we know what we're doing, we are so well organised.

The fact we've not announced the new coach can be taken either way. There clearly is a problem and it could be talks with their first choice have broken down.....or maybe they've change their mind. Maybe Papa Pozzo has got involved.

It seems clear, QSF not working out has caught them on the hop.

 

I don't think he would be a good choice for Mgr/Head Coach but I'd love to see Zola as offensive coach (if there is such a role)

Don't do it. I went to Southampton with hope and came away full of despair. I now expect us to announce Basset as our new manager and that we will lose every game for the rest of the season. it's just easier like that

 

Finally the SSN doughnut at the training ground has reported we are no longer interested in Hughton or Clement. He confirmed that Mullins will be in charge against Leicester, and a new appointment could be announced Wednesday or even Thursday. Certainly not going to be today.

It's a strange one, seeing as Clement, Hughton and Fat Sam are not in the running, these are the top three on OddsChecker. Clearly no one knows who it is going to be, even the clever money.

 

I suppose not surprising that it is "strange" Since Dyche and arrival of Pozzos have we ever appointed anyone tipped by medaia (or any of us)?

Fat Sam, but just till the end of the season would not be a bad shout. I know he is not that popular, but he has done the big rescue act for other teams.

He refused the Everton job when they offered it short term. He only accepted when they gave him a deal for 18 months. No way does he accept the job on a short-term basis with us. If Gino wants him, he will want a longer deal which I doubt we would offer.

I think no one knows who it is, so one reasonably large bet would likely disrupt the market quite a bit.

I did not hear the programme myself on Talk Sport, but apparently Fat Sam hinted he would be interested in our job and would be happy with a short term contract?

 

Our chance of getting a decent manager came and went over the summer. If they believed that Gracia wasn’t the guy anymore following the cup final humbling, they needed to get rid. I’m confident that we’d have been able to attract a decent level of candidates on the back of a cup final and relatively strong league season.

Having missed that chance, I’m also confident that with a bit of work, we’d have been able to find a strong candidate to replace Javi after only 4 games.

Now though, we’re absolutely scraping the barrel because nobody with any real ambition is likely to take this job, knowing that we’re relegated and it’s a squad full of spineless *****.

The only hope we have is that we give some younger guy a chance to come in, with the expectation that this season is simply about weeding out the high levels of deadwood and putting in place a philosophy/culture ready for next season and an assault on the Championship.
