His agent has confirmed we want him but he is happy to stay at Napoli. However if Napoli decide to sell him, his agent makes it sound like we would be his next destination. At least (that is what I am hoping) that's how I read it.

I suspect this will be this year's annual Napoli deal. Pozzo's and De Laurentiis have a great relationship and usually move players around for the mutual benefit of all clubs. If Napoli want Meret and Widmer, Gino will make sure we get an otherwise unrealistic target out of the deal. A midfield of Doucoure, Allan and Pereyra would be genuinely as good as anything in the league outside of the top 6.

 

God I would love to get Allan in our midfield. I think he is a fantastic player, behrami x3

 

Has a Portuguese passport so won't need a work permit (well, not for a couple of years, anyway...).

Agree with you Miserable Old Git - We shouldn't be signing players where we need to twist their arm (with ludicrous sums of money) - they will never be committed - Just sign players that want to come to us not those who will think they are better than us. I have no problem with Allan thinking that - Napoli in Champs league to Watford 17th in Prem is a big step down and he probably could get a bigger team if he wanted to move

We don't actually know either suggestion: whether we are trying to get him here at all or that he doesn't want to come here at all. The very sparse information we have on the subject comes from one or two very vague and translated sources. So I don't think we need to get worried about us 'wasting our time'; if we are pursing him in any way, it will be because there is some indication it is a possibility, and if he doesn't want to come at all/Napoli don't want to get rid, then assorted Pozzi won't be wasting their time in the first place.

 

I can't see it happening, but then again I felt the same way about both Pereyra and Niang initially. However if by some master stroke the Pozzo's can convince him to come id be very happy as I think technically he's a level above the rest of our squad, apart from Pereyra. It would be a huge statement of intent if it happens.

A midfield 3 of Pereyra, Doucoure, Allan would be unreal for a club like us and could do the business against teams in and around us. Doucoure, Cleverley or even Allan are capable of playing a deeper role against the bigger teams in the league, but we would still need a more natural DM as well. Maybe Agbo would be given a chance? Add in Capoue and that's some decent midfield options.

I'd love to think this was possible, but will probably see an article in few days saying there's no chance of it happening.
