    ...but true.

  2. ZZ. It is unfair of you to judge people on your own standards because you set an impossible bench mark for our players to even aspire to. I'm not saying you were not the player you describe, but even Watfords greatest over acheiver, Tommy Mooney, would struggle to reflect the effort and dedication you showed throughout your footballing career.

Why do you go all hyperbole? No one has wanted or expected our players to be "consistently brilliant" every week. We just expect them to be be able to do what players, many of whom are internationals, are expected to do on a consistent basis when being paid £30k to £50k a week, or approx £5k A DAY. Pass to our own players, tackle, sweat a bit, take a few chances, block shots instead of turning their backs, and stop making basic errors too often - and starting fit and healthy from the first day of the season.

It isn't to much to ask. And is it too much to ask Walter to get a good battling performance out of his team more often than not?

It is no fluke that Troy's improvement has coincided with him slimming down - is it too much to expect our Captain to be fit by Day 1 of the season?

It is the type of performance that bothers many of us. If we had been pegged back by two good late goals late last night, we all would have been extremely disappointed, but I very much doubt if there would have been much condemnation of Walter or the players, as we could not have expected more effort. I certainly would have been full of praise at their overall performance. Yes, the brilliance of Niangs goal was there and a "brilliant" performance, in my view, by Doucoure, but I wouldn't expect them to do the same on every game.

I also reckon that 80% of your posts since the game have been having a go at your fellow supporters - precious little about the actual football
... and that from someone who told a poster who said we could beat WBA he was "being ridiculous". Gloating is bad enough, but gloating when you have no right to gloat, is a bit pathetic.

Hopefully, this new Watford continues, win lose or draw.

What I'd really like to know is who would have won the battle of the ageing Italian Stallions had it come to serious fisticuffs in the dugout last night?

De Toff looks a bit like a 70s nightclub bouncer. If he's really the goalkeeping coach, I bet he tells them what to do rather than showing them. Imagine the dent it'd leave in the pitch when that lump landed from a diving leap.

I reckon Wally would be quick on his feet and land a couple of jabs on De Toff's chin before the big man even had time to react. Depends whether that'd be enough to finish him off, or whether they'd just bounce off him.

Wally would have to hope those were enough, because thanks to the Superkings, I don't reckon he'd have the puff to throw many more punches.

Unfortunately we never got to find out thanks to that little sneak Amrabat who jumped in like a weasel and did the "Come on guys! We've all had a few Hypertonic sports drinks" thing.

I disagree... but fair play for disagreeing in a respectful manner. Something that is rare on these forums these days.

I'd love to know how people are so sure of Troy Deeney's waist size.

    ****ing weirdos.

Well, he was as big as a house, now he's just as fat as a terraced house, rather than a ranch

Haha, is TD your love child or something? You go all aggressive if anyone dare suggest he is anything other than perfect in every way.

It is true there has been plenty of reasonable critiques of Wally on here. However it is also true some posters go after him with a lot of bile. I think the opening post was probably at the latter group as opposed to everyone.
