I reckon that all professional footballers, or any other people for that matter who earn £10k a week or more should donate a weeks salary to help others who are in REAL HARDSHIP because of the Coronavirus. They should all probably be able to do that without any hardship to themselves, other than maybe missing out on a luxury or two at the most. So come on guys get your hands in your pockets and help out those who are in REAL NEED! As for the multi millionaires and billionaires they should be donating at least a MILLION each. CAN YOU HERE ME MR BRANSON AND YOUR ILK
How many people would you hope to help out with this? How would you determine who qualifies as being in "real hardship because of the coronavirus"? How much would you want them to each get?
Funny how you picked BRANSON (who is a ****) but not MOGG, ODEY, DYSON, MARTIN or any of the other BREXITERS looking to make a FAST BUCK out of Britain's DISTRESS! Edit. Not you Willis. (replied to wrong POST) Directed at Laughing Gravy of the Daily Express.
Is that you, Jeremy Corbyn? Give the hard-earned wealth of others to people with less, just because they have less?
One of the countries, Belgium I think, sent out a cheque for cash to every household EXCEPT for the top 30% income. They should do something like that here rather than sending 'furloghed' Richie Riches £2500 per month. Also, even Trump is now talking about paying danger money to key workers. The thanks and rainbows and applause are all very nice, but we are still only earning £300 per week and it is not enough. . All four working Kremlins are key workers needed in the battle it turns out: Me (carer) Cifriana (school cleaner) Aethelred (supermarket) Lilly (paramedic student) So if our contribution is so key, how come we can't get the car serviced or have the youngest go on cub trips, or have food that isn't white label basix, or turn the heating on or a thousand other things.
Aren’t schools shut so school cleaners are not needed? Or are we talking about the need to cater for kids of key workers? Genuine question by the way.
School's still open for key worker's kids, so the cleaning still has to be done at the end of each day.
Some suggestion that us key workers might be given medals - The Order of the British Bedpan (underclass). For us carers - Knight Commander of the Night-soil bucket (with oak leaves). For the cleaners - Conspicuous Broom-based Gallantry Cross For the supermarketeers - Officer of the Order of the Palette Truck (First Class)
Graham Potter has also taken a cut. I do hope we don't follow the Spurs route but not heard we've done anything yet
The Pozzos seem to look after our staff well so hopefully that will continue. Non playing staff I mean !
Now the cricketers have donates money they really will be under pressure! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/52160991
Probably but think the PR damage has been done - maybe more by the club and PFA than player themselves. Maybe that point needed to come out earlier? Ofcouse some would have hammered them anyway regardless of what they had done. Even if the players had given 2 months worth away people probably might have complained they still get paid for the other 10 months!
Correct, on another forum I am on someone linked an article stating United players were donating 30% of a months salary to support the local NHS and communities and ‘ranted’ it was only the equivalent of one weeks pay!
I think that, if the season isn't completed in some form of normality, there may be several clubs in dire financial straits, including our own. And players unions worrying about a pay reduction, may become incidental.
Pretty much the whole of the DM and Telegraphs comments page! Mind you on the former a celeb just breaths and people complain.
That is a given the way football finances are managed these days. When there is a 'holy grail' of the money rich Premier League clubs will spend over their means to get there and once in to stay there. It is a barely sustainable strategy that clubs just about get by on because of the PL cash.
FA have given a stark warning for the future of clubs. http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/apr/07/greg-clarke-speech-to-fa-council-070420
Well according to SSN as of this morning the players have set up their own charity to help out with C-19 crisis. Now when are the PL club owners and other billionaires, such as MR BRANSON going to do their bit
Troy Deeney helped set it all up. Good on him. Seems like it was an idea mooted some ago. Might have saved all the bad PR and questions..
Really surprised no one has posted this link https://www.football365.com/news/feature-premier-league-player-wage-cut-matt-hancock Interview with an anonymous player who gives all his money to charity because he thinks footballers are over paid. Spoiler. Doesn't like Hancock.
