Bless you. I think CHI will be nowhere near, but due to the NFC North being the NFC North it could be a post-season embarrassment.

Bills to win it for Wilson, you heard it here first!

Nah even I doubt it. Although with everything surrounding the franchise with the changing of the owners etc, plus the longest playoff drought in NFL history, I wouldn't be surprised if something barmy like us winning the Superbowl this year were to happen.

    Let's play some FOOTBAAAAAWWWWWLLLL

Managed to pick up tickets for the Lions game at Wembley today. Still hoping the Bucs win it, as I do every year and then give up in week 6.

Have some faith man. ;) Like every year the Bears will be in the mix until late and then ***** it up at the last opportunity.

Schedule doesn't look that bad (although 6 of 1st 9 away from home, so a good start could set up a playoff run) . A new season, therefore I am confident da Bears and their "improved" offense will win the NFC North and then meekly rollover at home to some underdog in the playoffs. However this for me would be an achievement and something I'd gladly take at this point.

Regardless of the hype around the offense I still think the defense lacks the tools to be a real contender, despite the free agency additions. Jay and friends might well put up 20+ points every game but I haven't seen anything to convince me that the front four can get the pressure needed to help out a still average linebackers & secondary.

I appreciate the 2014 NFL is very different place even from 5 years ago but I still subscribe to the belief that offense wins you games but defense wins you championships. Seattle proved that very point in 2013 and particularly in the SB.

Given that defense is apparently a thing of the past I'm looking forward to more fireworks from the likes of Manning, Brees, Brady and others to keep Red Zone busy.

A question for you NFLers can a team with talent like Atlanta be as bad again in 2014 . I say no and I think they'll be a team to watch.
Are the Texans in for another brutal year despite the world's best ever pass rush. With Fitzpatrick starting it could get ugly. Mallet to be starting by week 3 .

Only a few more hours to go. The NFL - the perfect antidote to X Factor and Strictly .

Completely agree. Something major needs doing, maybe it is on the coaching staff. Get Urlacher and "Da Coach" in to shape them up.

In other news, Hawks still looking good.

Texans are probably going to be dreadful, but it will be worth it if they get themselves into a position to draft Mariota or Winston. Fitzpatrick won't last any longer than week 8 in my book, likely because they are 0-8 and want to have a proper look at Mallet before going all in on a QB in the draft.

I've just started coaching junior high football, so I'll be watching with my coaches hat on.

Since I've now bingewatched all of Hard Knocks, I have to say I would love to become a coach. Alas, not this side of the pond.

I'm loving it. There is a lot more emphasis on my coaching duties than teaching duties. They take away teaching responsibilities so we can go away and plan plays/formations etc. I definitely watch the games from a different perspective now Practice first period and after school, then Friday we scout for the High School team.

The Bills aren't exactly known for their prowess on the road !! Offense not helped by losing key skill players and two from the OL. The defence has gone backwards if that was possible.

Some strange results tonight but picking winners week 1 of the NFL might as well be done with a pin and a blindfold.

Great win for the dolphins. As soon as the cut out the turnovers they looked a good team. Hopefully play offs this year!

Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhhh baby. #billsmafia. As we say, we don't jump on the wagons, we circle them. We're not that bad NW. It's that same attitude from the Fins fans that made that win against them last season to stop them going to the playoffs just that bit sweeter.

As one of the commentators said, we showed some proper mental resolve there to win at Soldiers Field, a tough place for anyone to go to. When Manuel threw that interception I thought it was the start of the downfall for him like last season, but Fred Jackson pulled it out of the locker!

Btw we also had a few key injuries. Kiko Alonso (probably the best rookie linebacker of last season in the NFL) is out for 6 months and to top things off, Rivers (another linebacker) went off injured during the game. The amount of space Forte was getting was amazing- we couldn't handle him. But I will gladly take a gritty win at Chicago especially when the Pats lost as well. We're doing it for Ralph!

Haha, nisman; I hope you enjoyed the game. I had a feeling watching the game it would be Bills in OT. I hope my comments about the "unacceptable performance" were not taken as insulting. Bills deserved it on the day, by an absolute country mile!

Oh yeah I did. I was quite nervous as well because we always have the capability of throwing it away. As soon as we lost the toss as well I thought it was game over. We needed this win badly and EJ needed a good performance, which he done.

I'm not offended one bit- as a Bills fan I expect the kind of underestimation of the Bills from other fans. The media always hates us and portrays us in a bad light. It's pretty much the Watford of the NFL. EJ gave the offensive team a rallying speech that ESPN reported on here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11484604/ej-manuel-pregame-speech-fired-buffalo-bills-win-chicago-bears. The important quote here is "He was just letting us know that it was pretty much us against the world, that we were the underdogs," running back Anthony Dixon said. "I know they had [the Bears] picked [as the] favorite. He was just saying that we [are] all we got. Basically we [are] all we need. We know we can win. We know we can compete against the best teams."

Everyone Buffalo has pretty much got the underdog mentality now, players and fans alike which is good. Like I said, the Fins fans last year underestimated us and moaned like mad when they lost. Heck, even the Chicago TE Martellus Bennett just referred to our defensive tackle Kyle Williams, who made an interception on Cutler a "fat guy (who) got a pick". We're just used to this kinda stuff now

Someone might want to tell the Cowboys' defence that they have to turn up to a game next Sunday. Seems like they forgot this week.

I know the Cowboys defence gets a lot of bad press but to be fair the offence put them in some pretty bad positions. 21 out of 28 SF points came off turnovers. I'd say it's the offence that needs to up its game. Romo looked very rusty and at this rate will give Cutler a run for his money in the battle for INT king.

    Woah.

I was trying to stay up for the Bears game, but fell asleep so I've recorded it. I'm about one and a half dreadful minutes in before I think "I'll just see how bad this gets"...

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! CUTLER IS HERE!

p.s. for the 9ers first score - how do officials miss the delay of game?!

  32. NW Orn

I was thinking about staying up but the prospect of a Bears whooping followed by bleary eyedness for a couple of days made me think better of it. Reading the game book it looks like it got worse until the last two minutes of the 1st half. SF seemed to do a good job of turning the ball over only for the Bears offense to do squat with it.

I also recorded it so will fast forward to the last 15 and just ignore the first 45 like it didn't happen.

I'm more than happy to take the W but if they leave it until the 4th quarter too many times they will get burnt.

Shame the Jets couldn't hold on to their massive lead against Green Bay . Chargers looked good and the Bills at 2-0 wow sign15:

Haha, you have to watch the first half just for the millions of penalties. So frustrating to watch. Same, a win on the road to SF on opening day of their new stadium, and Jay's numbers - very pleasing. But you're right about 4th quarter comebacks, although I think the offense grew into the game, it cannot always be relied upon to finish strong. All about keeping the wheels on now.

As an aside, I wouldn't say that all is ok with Jay now, but if he can play like that for, say; twelve weeks I will be happy.

Weekly Bills summary coming up aha. This last week has pretty much been the second (if not the best week) ever for Bills fans. Sunday was the first game back at the Ralph Wilson Stadium this season as well as the first game at the Ralph since Ralph Wilson passed away. This was also the first game at the Ralph since its renovation and the first game that former star QB Jim Kelly came back to the Ralph since his cancer went into remission. To further add to things, on Wednesday/Thursday, Terry Pegula (who also own Buffalo Sabres, the NHL team) bought the Bills after Jon Bon Jovi pulled out of the race. JBJ (the *****) wanted to move the franchise to Toronto, to which obviously every Bills fan hated; since Terry's wife is from Buffalo, they have guaranteed us that the Bills are staying in Buffalo.

To top things all off, we beat the moaning Dolphins 29-10 and are now top of our division. The #billsmafia don't jump on those wagons, we circle them!
