I love the guy to death but he really needs to wake up and stop being so stupid! It will be a miracle if we stay up, let alone qualify for frigging Europe!!

But an incorrect one I'm afraid. From the Premier League website:

"European Places are also available for English teams in the Inter-Toto Cup and via the Fair Play League, where the highest placed team in the Fair Play League that hasn't qualified for Europe by other means is entered into a UEFA draw. If a team is drawn out of the hat they enter the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Cup"

The Inter-Toto Cup is by application only and is traditionally awarded to the highest placed applicant who hasn't qualified for Europe via the league. The Fair Play league simply sees the top team put into a draw with the winners of most of the other European fair play leagues and two spots in the UEFA Cup Qualifying Round are up for grabs. When you think around 28 teams are in that draw (including the likes of Slovenia and Czech Republic) you can see how unlikely it to win even if you are in the hat. In fact last year England didn't even get an entry into the draw because of Jens Lehmann's red card in the Champions League Final against Barca.

Finally, I'm not even sure we are top of the Fair Play league anymore - the last update from the PL was at the start of Oct and since then we've had Chris Powell's sending off and a few yellows as well.

 

Aidy has great vision and wisdom, but I can't understand why he doesn't say Champions League. I find hin too negative these days, sets his sights too low.

Expensive, but it'll be worth it on the last day of the season! As I said before I can imagine it'll be the higlight of the season - even more so than getting into Europe ;D
