Back of a *** packet stuff but I think muff have got an easier run in than Boro. We need Boro to win tomorrow for the two of us to form a little breakaway at the top, leaving muff and boro to scrap it out for 2nd place later in the run-in.

Goes without saying we'll slaughter Ips*ite.

True, but imagine, just imagine if you will - Boro win, Forest win, We win.

    1. 5 points clear of 3rd.

    2. A minimum of 7 points clear of 4th.

    3. Just 21 points to go.

It's all a dream of course. The spoon isn't real.

Thought a lot about this. Really want to win the league but firstly must secure promotion. We can do the former once we confirm the latter. Therefore, Boro win all the way.

Win our game. Providing we keep doing that it doesn't matter what anybody else does

Yes of course, but realistically we're likely to drop some points between now and the end of the season. If you look at muff's run in they seem less likely to drop as many points, and IMO remain a bigger threat to us than boro.

    Edit:
    * don't mean this thread to turn into a rivals run-in thread, so back on track re Muff v Boro .... C'mon boro.

True but given that in all probability we won't win every game between now & the end of the season, as much as we'd like to, how the other teams do is important.

Been reminding everybody iv'e met today of this dream outcome. If this happens I think we've got 1 foot in the premier league!

It's got to be boro win. As said above, secure 2nd, then worry about winning it.

Question: If you're Joka, do you let the players watch this game or not to keep their minds on their own match?

I wouldn't personally, as I feel the players need as much time possible to focus on and prepare for their own matches without any distractions close to kick-off, but then I'm sure Slav knows far better than any of us what's the best approach. If he thinks that with us due to play Boro fairly shortly, we need to work out how to get a result against a promotion rival by watching tomorrow's match, then who are we to argue? (But like I said, probably best to delay viewing until after we've done the business against Ipswich - touch wood!)

You don't know which teams are going to go on a great run and which are going to collapse.

I'd rather they both drew and dropped points, and we pulled away from them both.

Definitely a Boro win. An undeserved 1-0 courtesy of a 90+8 min dodgy penalty would do nicely.

    Also a Forest win.

Probably not watch it but nigh on impossible to keep the score from them so use it - whatever it is - to additionally fire them up for their match.

This is also true and certainly we all want our rivals to lose but we can't do anything about other results. Concentrate on the only teams results we can affect. Our own

Yes, but by the same token, our rivals are all dropping points too. We're in the box seat and we have the power now. They can all just try and match us and hope we slip up.

Glad to be us at this moment.

Could do with Bournemouth's GD taking a hit over the next few games.

Don't want to sound cocky but with our 'easier' games, it would be great if we could get another 5-0 or 7-2 in there.

Going for a draw. Maximum points dropped. Boro are closest right now but we don't know who will be the top two in a while.

A couple of weeks ago we would have wanted derby to beat boro or Bournemouth, but now its good they dropped points.

We should really be sticking 20 past Millwall imho

We really don't know who our closest rivals will be on the run in despite relative ease of remaining fixtures etc. If we win today there will have been a 14 point shift between ourselves and Derby in six matches. Bizarre eh? And entirely unpredictable. So let's take a Muff v Boro draw and four dropped points.

I doubt if our team will all be sat around the telly up until 50 mins before our k.o. Wouldn't there be other pre-match routines that would have kicked in before then? They will of course know the score before we start and I bet the Joka knows best how to use that to our advantage.

The pessimism on this board is frustrating. We are riding the biggest crest in living memory for many of the teenagers here and you can't see beyond 20 past Millwall? :dismay:

Ritchie goes down very easily to win a free kick. From the free kick a save is forced from Konstantopoulos as Calum Wilson dives in the box. Bournemouth starting as they mean to go on.

Why do so many people want Middlesbrough to win? A draw is perfect. Rather be four clear of Bournemouth and two clear of Boro than five clear of Bournemouth and level with Boro.

Because securing the autos is more important than worrying about who comes first or second? 5 points from 3rd is better than 4?
