Absolutely no way could we play the scum with those 2 on the pitch. They’d get hammered all over the pitch.

Given that Giraldi said ‘we will see’ about a January transfer for Masina, I wonder if it’s known that he wants to go back home.

Maybe he is just more suited to Italian football. Never really seems to have adapted to PL football.

If we can get what we paid for him I would probably take it as he doesnt remotely suit Ivic's style of play.

Despite a torrid end to the season, he had a good spell under Pearson where he showed improvement and gives us an alternative, more defensive option at left back as well as cover for Wilmot on that side of CB.

I'd have serious doubts on whether he has the mental strength to cut it in the long term, but given how high energy the wing backs appear to be in Ivic's system we can't afford not to have a backup able to fill in or do a job shoring up that side in a more defensive role if we have a tight lead.

Also if he goes feels like bringing in a more natural wingback would be difficult and costly at this point so imagine him to be around for the season.

Think you read it on here so don't worry. People frequently suggest Deeney as a centre back.

Did some digging and it was actually AL in his most recent Athletic piece who said he may be considered for the central role. Madness.

Is that mis-formation by the other Adam then saying he will be out till February?

Not just him. Ivic said at yesterday’s press conference that he believed Masina would be out until then. Puzzling but if he’s back training on the pitch, with a ball (as opposed to just doing gym work) then surely he’s not too far off

I found it interesting that Ivic said yesterday that Masina can play on the left of a back 3 or at left-back. I'm sure many on here will be quick to point out that they have been saying this for months.

How long ago did we see pics of Deulofeu with a ball at his feet out of interest? (Admittedly he came back quicker than expected, as soon as he left us!)

Is this just a social media op to try and keep the baying mob happy knowing that our left-back situation is not good?

Masina working with a ball on his Instagram, passing and running. I'm no medical expert but surely he can't still be 3 months off if he's doing that? Maybe he's due back a little sooner, hence why we haven't seen a free agent LB arrive?

In my outsider's opinion, I suspect he wants out and has no intention of playing for us again. Maybe he has a move already agreed in principle and it will all be agreed in January?

    I see!

Anyway, yes, very strange if he's back training with a ball yet the club is saying he won't be back until February. Doesn't add up at all. Fishy.

In the absence of a bona fide left back we seem to be doing alright down that side, but it's good that Masina is nearing a return, Kiko has played a lot of football of late...

He'll be like a new left back.I just hope him playing doesn't mean JN gets ousted as RB.

Damn. Putting all our eggs in the Masina basket is even more desperate than the time we kept wishing Will Hoskins would get a run of games, and somehow overcome his total lack of application or ability to score goals.

Well we're not putting all our eggs in the Masina basket, are we? I mean Masina is the only out and out left-back at the club, but Kiko can play there if required

Masina was referred to earlier in the thread as our last hope.

That’s enough eggs in one basket for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make any more appearances for us. He was going to be sold in the summer before his injury, and Ivic says it will still be a few weeks until he's ready to play, and that takes us to the January window again.

We could already have a replacement lined up for when he's sold back to Italy.
  26. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

    Hogg-DEENEY!!! Reservist

Yep, I think I said that elsewhere, the talk of a February return did seem fishy to me, and while the club seem to be saying he'll return this month, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we did move him on. Even with Kiko filling in, we could do with a genuine left-back and I'm sure Masina would be fine at this level, but if we do sell him, I wonder how much money we could get for Masina, and what we could use that on?
  27. Don't worry. Will save our season, just as Pedro did last term.
  28. Anything less than £30m (£40m to Everton) and Gino is embarrassing himself again.

Local newspaper here in Turku Finland has a story of foreign players being operated and looked after by finnish doctors. There is picture of Adam and a local fysiotherapist working to get him back to condition. I only saw a short internet story and not a hole writing. There was no talk of eggs or baskets though.

He's no Femenia but he did well in the build up to the penalty on Tuesday. He also ended up in the box a couple of times vs Bristol City so hopefully he keeps getting forward and one falls for him.

I believe he holds his defensive position more offering Kiko the chance to move forward more. Hughes or one of the others simply know to shuffle over to the right more giving a more solid base.
Stats show we're more solid with him in the team.

Disappointed at the lack of appreciation for his pretend tackle as Ched Evans was about to shoot the other night. Proper playground tactics but seemed to work as Evans had a right old moan afterwards.
