The U18s lost 0-1 at home to Cardiff this afternoon with an 11th minute goal by Caleb Hughes the difference between the sides. Watford XI: Marriott (g/k), Andrews, Abbott, Lawal, Langston (C), Hall, Conteh, Hunter, Horsewood, Forde, Manning. Subs: Goulding (g/k), Trialist, Trialist, Muwonge, Thompson.
Hidden in the article about Murray's loan being terminated on the Official Website is this bit of info about Djibril Toure. Was wondering what was happening with him. "Additionally, the Hornets can confirm teenage striker Djibril Touré will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Charleroi SC. The promising 18-year-old joined Watford on January 1 from Ceffomig FC and will continue his development in the Belgian First Division A."
The U23s are at Weston-Super-Mare today, playing table-topping Bristol City with a 1pm k/o. It looks like City have shown why they're on such a good run - 8 wins from 12 - with this tactical ingenuity, really outside-the-box thinking, which looks to have completely stumped the Watford boys even before they've changed. So simple really. Just stick a sign in the penalty area saying 'PLEASE KEEP OUT OF GOAL MOUTH' and you're guaranteed to have a 'Watford 0' scoreline.
2-1 loss for the u23s. The clubs media team have completely ignored the game and Bristol City didn't give the Watford side out. Baptiste was in goal though, Stevenson played and Dom Hutchinson scored an equaliser in the 48th (49th?) minute. A penalty with roughly 15 minutes left won it for City.
Bristol City gave the wrong name for the scorer, it was in fact Henry Wise and not Hutchinson. Hutchinson did play though, as did Lo-Everton. They were on the pitch when the penalty was taken anyway! I love being alive at a time where information is so readily available.
I'd much rather hear how the U23s are doing than the first team at the moment. No idea why the club just ignore the fact that they exist sometimes. Oh wait, that must trickle down from the top. My bad.
@The Recluse Team was: Dante Baptiste, Max Statham, Toby Stevenson, Jack Burchell, Derek Agyakwa, Teddy Perkins, Henry Wise, Henry Ochieng, Dominic Hutchinson, JJ McKiernan & Sonny Blu Lo-Everton. Subs: Bayli Spencer-Adams, Rohan Luthra (trialist), Maurizio Pochettino, Shaqai Forde & Andrew Ljiwole (trialist).
Thank you! Sorry for the late reply DrewH, health is a bit ropey at the moment so taking things a bit slower for a while. No more rambling posts anyway Thanks again, it's much appreciated. I'll add those new names to an ever increasing list.
They're all on heavily incentive-based contracts (between £500-£1,000 a week give or take). Not a problem Recluse. Take it easy!
Thanks Drew. So a season's outlay on the U23's wages is around £600,000 sort of figure? Add on small amounts for signing on fees? Agent fees? In a couple of rare cases a small transfer fee? As a Championship club, you've got to be wanting one player each year to become a part of the first team squad for that money. And then of course their contract would get renegotiated anyway. You can see why clubs may drop this team. Just spend the money from wages on one squad player for the first team instead.
Currently winning 2-1 against Ipswich. Went 1-0 but pulled it back via a pen, then 2 mins later took the lead. Edit: Now HT, pochettino and Hutchinson with goals. Pochettino’s goal a stunner apparently.
Look after yourself. It's a **** time of year, so take a breath, take your time, and then "we go again" !
Yes. Hutchinson will then be doing an interview on talksport about how good he is at smashing them in. In all seriousness I have no idea about the pen.
Where is this coming from? On the official report from Monday's U23 game against Bristol it said: "Fellow new signing Mitchel Bergkamp is working his way back from a minor thigh problem and should re-join full training next week."
https://mobile.twitter.com/King_Of_Watford/status/1357679189206446083 Mind games. This guy knows everything. If he says he’s in the squad, then he’s probably not in the squad.
Apparently playing against Coventry is part of his rehabilitation. If it goes ok then he will re-join full training next week. Do keep up....
Definitely more reliable. The fact that a WFC legend in Moog follows me him, is more than enough credibility. Guy definitely has sauces sources inside the club.
Its not about followers it’s about who you know and I’m he is definitely connected to the club, probably on the board with the insight he offers.
