    THIS.

I’d say it’s very unlikely that even most of the players don’t know how much one another is on. It’s not exactly a good way of creating a strong morale amongst them. It certainly wouldn’t be common knowledge.

Deeney may well be in an amount getting towards why is being said - but I’d bet a fair bit that it will be made up of all sorts of clauses and bonuses. His weekly wage to be 100k just is nowhere near justifiable enough to be true.

Yes I typed that but deleted it as I'm not sure they have even had the credit of being called a smartarse !

Lets hope a large element is based on goals scored excl penalties.

There is a mistake above that some of you have repeated in the figures.

Deeney isn't on 100k, he is on 100 kfc drumsticks a week.
The catering team buy about 10 bargain buckets on Monday put 30 pieces or so out on a platter next to the pitch and just top them up when they run low; you should see the pile of bones at the half way line.

His release clause is a Nandos black card and a private fry chef

100kfc drumsticks a week works out at fewer than 14.5 drumsticks per day. Can't see Deeney surviving on that. Unless he gets a zinger tower burger and some popcorn chicken with each one. And fries and gravy.

And me. In all seriousness he's not on 100k and won't be at any point in the future, but he's certainly not on the 2k they appear to be staying for Pugh...

That report on players salaries is pants. First of all it refers to the beginning of last season. Second it has Ake on 10k per week after a 20 million transfer from Chelsea to the Muffins. He would have got more in Chelsea reserves. We know Chalobah was put on a 30k per week contract after he went back to Chelsea after his second loan to us some years ago. Defoe on 65k per week - RUBBISH. There is a misplaced assumption by media and fans that because they have a small stadium Bournemouth have no money. As for Deeney my guess he is on about 70k per week after two contract extensions.

It was widely reported that Defoe was on 65k-70k when he signed for Bournemouth. And he hasn’t signed any new contracts beyond the crazy 3yr deal he signed when he arrived there. Although that website is 90% pure guesswork, that sounds accurate to me.

When you get an England International with 57 caps and 20 goals together with over 200 goals a good proportion being in the Premier League, on a free transfer, you can afford to give him a good wage.

  13. Burnsy

It’s not the wage that I think is crazy. 3 years on those wages for a player his age is...especially for a Bournemouth side who can never be certain they won’t be relegated and have his wage hanging around them in the league below.

The press reports suggest they gave him over £9m as a signing on fee. Then there's whatever they paid his agent. There's no such thing as a free transfer at this level.

I tend to agree with you, but is it any crazier than us giving Deeney a five year contract on £100k per week?

  16. Burnsy

    Burnsy First Team

Yes. Because Deeney is unlikely to be on 100k a week. And he’s 6 years younger. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have Deeney on (let’s say) £60k a week for 5 years but I don’t think the two examples are the same.

Not saying the Observer get's everything right, far from it, but nevertheless I think your estimate of Deeney's wage is on the low side.

Why did whoever it was just delete their comment two posts above about how they look like an angry star trek captain whenever they see another cheese related post?!

I'd gone to the effort of fixing their post for them. :(

Heard whispers that Spurs are very very interested and he'll be the top target to replace Dembele if/when he leaves. Question is wether Spurs will pay what we want.

It may depend on whether they can get Milinkovic-Savic. They’re one of about forty clubs linked.

Regarding Spurs - isn't Levy the last minute deadline king? Presumably to pay less from those needing to sell.

If Spurs are thinking of signing him, I can't see this tactic working with Gino - receiving a large transfer fee (no way would he mug Gino off) but with zero time to reinvest and leaving us a quality player short is something I don't believe the club would entertain.

Still got my fingers crossed Doucoure will announce news of the contract extension he's signed crossed-fingers-emoji.png

I was asked by a Spurs season ticket holder at work if Doucoure would be a good signing for them. I said he would be a good squad player but not an automatic first choice. Hopefully murmuring disquiet about signing him among their fans may filter through and put them off putting in a bid. Arsenal signed Torreira for £26.5 m. I doubt spurs would consider Doucoure worth more than that. That sort of sum might be considered too good to turn down.

    Wages.
    Defoe £104k per week
    Ake £100k per week

The poor start that Bournemouth made last season was rumoured to be due to player unrest.
The wages offered to Ake, Defoe and Afobe were way above the rest of the squad.
This unsettled the players and a meeting was held. Several long standing players were offered better deals..
