Ha! I don't normally read your comments anymore as you are so tediously repetitive and full of yourself i put you on ignore. But as you seemed to be posting closely behind me i figured you were responding to my posts & had a look.. and lo and behold i was right! "I know differently"? That's rich coming from someone who see's himself as some sort of oracle on every subject from interior walling to Watford fc to football groundsmanship and the meaning of life! PS As you know everything.. could you tell me the setting on here so you can't reply to any of my posts. Thanks in advance
Oh you've let me down there.. Just a load of nonsensical crap instead of your usual know it all response. Sorry you'll have to go back on ignore.
I know where you're coming from here, but the fact that hardly anything has been said about this just shows it's a non story. When I say hardly, I mean it relational terms. If it was really so bad, more news outlets, BBC sport, Sky Sports, my colleagues at work, other football forums etc. will all be talking about it. I don't think its people wearing their yellow tinted glasses when they say it's a non story, they are saying it's a non story because there is literally no evidence to say otherwise. Even the club have said Troy has done nothing wrong. That would be a massively bold statement to make from a football club if they were not certain that Troy was an innocent party in all of this.
They're saying it's a non story because they don't believe he did anything wrong. I'm saying it's a (tabloid) story because a famous footballer.. with a previous conviction.. has been somehow mixed up in a late night situation and has been filmed doing so. I'm not making assertions either way but to think of this as a 'non story' is a tad naive.
The Daily Mail have published an article seeming to give Deeney's view of the incident, though there are no direct quotes: Want your footballers to be 'normal'? Well, just ask Troy Deeney
Sums it up Scum people acting like scum, causing trouble for people who just want to have a normal night out. We've all seen it ourselves hundreds of times on a Saturday night anywhere in the country, I can only imagine it must be 100 times worse for someone deemed 'famous'
Article here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4238238/Want-footballers-normal-just-ask-Deeney.html I suggest one or two posters on here read it and maybe next time they won't be so quick to judge.
Good on Troy for not reacting, must've been a difficult week with all the shyte that was going around on tw@tter/social media following the incidient. Unfortunately going forward, he'll have to think twice about where he spends his nights out in future as there's some pretty scummy people out there that will no doubt see if they can get a reaction next time.
I think the fame thing is worse for footballers because of the rivalries. Where everyone knows Troy is a Brum fan it basically means half the people in Birmingham already hate him and there is always a small minority wanting to carry it to far. I'm surprised that the police are still looking at the incident a week on if, by all accounts, it was a non event
I'd be particularly interested to know what PhilippineOrn and Hornpete have to say after reading that article given their suggestions that it was Deeney and his supposed issues with aggression and alcohol that were to blame for the incident.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/ne...e_or_Jamie_Vardy/?ref=mr&lp=5#comments-anchor 100k a week!? Makes his early season form even more open for criticism. Shocked he's on 100k a week!
Teamtalk ran an article two weeks ago, listing Troy as on 50k. I don't believe he's on 100k whatsoever.
Not that I agree with the silly amounts but then how long do footballers stay at their peak earning power? Not long but meanwhile we have bankers and businessmen earning more than that each and every day - year in, year out until they eventually peg it but even that doesn't stop them. Such is their deviance they make sure their kids get to keep the bulk of their investment and so the circle continues. Time for another revolution methinks
I still think he did it. And he knows where Lord Lucan is and what happened to shergar. The point I'm putting across is that every Watford fan jumping in with the defence, did so with zero amount of factual evidence. Troys clearly involved in an incident but the thought he could have been at least partially culpable is sacrimount to blasphemy among some of you and its correct to ridicule you for it. I include whoever knew a mates sisters uncle who was there. Ridicule especially now - given youve taken the moral high ground on a flimsy column in the bible of truth, the daily mail.
Happy to reply. That article isn't the definitive report what happened that night. It`s not even clear it's Troy`s own account it reads more like a narrative. There isn't a single quoted word from Deeney. For the sake of argument, even if it is Troy`s own version it is just that. His version. There will be as many versions as people involved and every one of them will likely reduce their own blame. Until such time as the police make charges and any subsequent court conviction it's all meaningless speculation. `Most` people can go out of an evening and it not result in a 10 month prison stint or the police thrusting pepper spray in their face. One of the best definitions l heard of having an alcohol problem is not being able to guarantee how the evening will end. Alcohol affects people differently and although it's nobody's fault how it affects them they need to be responsible for recognising the effects. That said, I blamed Deeney not for his involvement but for putting himself in that situation to begin with. Given who he is and where he was is it so surprising an altercation took place regardless of blame? As I already said he is free to club all night every night if he wants its his life but there are ramifications for him personally and his career if trouble finds him when he is out drinking.
Just for that I hope he goes and gets right lashed up this weekend ... and who are you to start telling people how to lead their lives? He's a grown man FFS
Were you dropped on the head as a baby? As I already said he is free to club all night every night if he wants its his life
Where do you think that article has come from? The level of detail and the way it's written, it's obviously from either Troy or one of his closest friends (with my guess being on the former). It's one side of a story, it may be true or it may not but it's certainly not irrefutable proof that he's done nothing wrong. Don't forget that in his recent interview with Darren Campbell, Troy explained the 2012 incident by saying that he saw his brother getting hit and went to help him, he felt someone grab his leg so he kicked them in the head as he was worried that they might have a knife because a lot of people carry knives where he's from. Contrast that with the what the judge said when he sentenced Deeney: Let's hope he hasn't done anything wrong this time but until the police conclude their investigation, I wouldn't rely on an article that only reflects Troy's version. He's been economical with the truth in the past so I'd take anything coming out of his camp with a dose of scepticism until it's independently backed up.
I seem to have missed the bit where the judge said Troy did not have his leg grabbed? What does "to a greater or lesser degree" actually mean and which bit refers to Troy? When it comes to conjecture and inference you really take the biscuit .... do you work for the Daily Mail by any chance?
Brilliant. You read a Daily Mail article and think that exonerates Deeney. Couple of posts later, you make a comment about the Daily Mail being unreliable. :sign15:
All that article does is tie in with what's already been said but without the exaggerations and innuendo previously reported. Even the first article said Troy did nothing wrong but that's just not good enough for you.
Spot on As I said earlier in the thread, even the original accuser (who has since asked the club for money) didn't bother to pretend Troy himself did anything wrong That's how you know it's a nothing story. Even the original sensationalised account didn't accuse Troy of anything substantial
It's clearly Troy's own words put into a column by the journalist and will be backed up by the CCTV in the club. You're being extremely naive if you think that Watford FC or his representatives would allow him to do this if he wasn't 100% in the clear or was guilty of any wrongdoing. And it's extremely unfair to claim he has an alcohol problem because other people choose to assault him because he's famous; that's just classic victim blaming. Him being in a public place doesn't make him fair game for being attacked or make him culpable for such. I also think it's unfair to bring up stuff that he did five years ago (and owned up to immediately) as a stick to beat him with when it clearly has very little to do with this incident.
The DM article, however supportive, says his advisers warned him not to go out in Birmingham. Whatever the truth of what went on, you have to question his judgement.
This is a decent read and sums up the entitlement that some people feel they have to act the c**t just because someone is famous. Also addresses the ridiculousness of this idea that Deeney was 'asking for trouble' for leaving his house on a Saturday night. http://www.football365.com/news/troy-deeney-celebrities-and-the-you-owe-us-culture
I honestly think you are reading what you want to read into people's comments and responses on here. Has anybody actually said he was 'asking for trouble'? Plenty questioning his judgement but they are not the same thing. Neither have l seen any actual blame placed on him here for the incident. None of us were there so at best all that has been said was let the police do their job. The very first thing l noted from your football365 article is drink was a factor for the trouble for the comedian fellow. He (as well as Troy) could have been totally sober but when surrounded by a club or pub full of drinking people it only takes one person who is an agressive drunk to cause a problem. I used Beckham as an earlier example but I am sure there are plenty of other footballers and stars in general that avoid situations that have the potential to blow up in their face. Celebrities are aware everybody carries a camera in their pocket and any and every nose pick in public will be available the next day to the world. For the last time it's his life and he is free to live it as he wishes but he does it knowing the possible consequences that come with being in the public arena in the 21st century.
I wasn't so much talking about the comments on here, where for the most part people have been fairly reasoned (including yourself), more the comment sections of newspaper sites and on Twitter where people have been suggesting exactly that. I really don't understand your point about alcohol though. Are you saying that people who are well known should avoid places where alcohol is served? Or that if they go to such a place and some moron gets aggressive then it is their own fault for putting themselves in that situation in the first place?
I`m not saying they should do anything. I don`t honestly care what any of them do. Just, if it was me, I would weigh up the pros and cons of situations like this more if I were in the public eye. Life is full of compromises, for them as much as you and I.
I just find it hilarious how the daily mail had two articles on the situation one stating that Troy was in the wrong etc etc and another saying how what happened to Troy is the reason footballers can't appear more 'normal'. Stating that Troy didn't throw any punches and was sober. The media just try to grasp onto his past when he has done so much to change his image.
That's been a common tactic on this board of late. Deliberately misconstrue what people are saying so you can get irate and take the moral high-ground. I'm sure it puts others off expressing an opinion as it does me.. and maybe explains why the board has been unusually quiet. *Of course by this i mean Troy is guilty and should be locked up for life!*
I can link you to the tweets and newspaper comments where people have said exactly what I described if you'd like?
